Appreciate the hard work and the upload however the fascia and unit install looks horrible for a Merc. You can install that unit through the back of the fascia you don't need the trim at all and it will look better. You can use the bracket from the old headunit . I bought 3 fascia units and the Metra fits best for me. Once again thanks for the upload and please don't take my personal opinion to personally. Every day it's a school day so..... Have a great day guys and keep up the good work 💪
Really great video, especially loved the bit on aligning the radio in the cage. Inspired my husband and son to install a Sony unit in my sons 2009 Audi A3. Everything went like clockwork until it came to sliding in the cage, but after 30 mins of trying it just didn’t fit - seems to be about 2 mm too narrow for the cage. Very disappointing finish to an otherwise excellent afternoon installing, and still not sure what to do. Guess that’s why you pay the professionals
Tracy Cameron How did you go getting it to fit? Do you mean sliding the cage into the Facia? It might be tight but it will 100% fit. You might have to manipulate it every so slightly to make it fit and it might seem that it’s too big but it does fit :)
I was banging my head why am I missing the Orange connector on my quadlock. Thanks for sharing the details regarding the 810 Sound System factory amp option. Helped me!
There are Android units that look way better, AFAIC, in the sense that they blend in well with the rest of the interior. They can use the space that is wasted by the fascia to the left and right for physical buttons and dials and feature a slightly bigger screen because they don't use controls on the bottom as the Sony unit does. Great installation work, but the result is lacking due to the choice of head unit, IMHO.
Great video, thanks. I bought a different fascia (Ai by PAC MBK102C) but it's a total piece of cr@p. Doesn't fit (way too wide) and had to cut off all the mounting holes. But used the same CHMC1C adapter, and a universal patch lead, steering wheel controls work.

Hi. Great Video. I have a 2005 C180K W203 coupe with an Audio 20 head unit - not Harmon or Bose. I happened to have an older but brand new Eonon G2216 from a few yaers ago - never installed it. It has all and the extras incl SWC support so I do't know if it will need CANBUS or not? I'm just building up the courage to tackle this so I'm doing some research. So, do you know if the existing quadlock connector in the video will be the same on my car and will my model have the optic fibre cable? Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks. Ray
Hi Nice video However I hve a question which might not make alot of sense but hopefully you will understand my question. I'm trying to get my Sony XAV-AX1000 installed into my Mercedes CLK200 2006 which is costing me £99, which should included some of the small equipment needed. However I received a phone call from them letting me know, I actaully have to buy something (can't remember what he said) but it was something he said I need to have for any bluetooth stereo to work in my car, without it, I wouldn't be able to use any. The price of this item though was quoted £240 which just sounds a bit insane considering the actual stereo cost £270. So if you know what he's talking about, any info would be much appreciated.
@@TheFittingBay ah ok sounds familiar Is the fibre optic amp necessary for Bluetooth stereos to work or can I still install them with it? I’m not good with cars and don’t want them to just make things up to up sell...
I have a quick question please, the dimensions of my head unit is 258x120x240 was that dimensions of the fascia you installed or was the top length 260? Appreciate any advice as want my cd unit ripped out to install a Bluetooth unit

Nice job! However i would like to ask something. Didn't use 'fiber optic decoder' stuff? And if you didn't, how the heck you've managed to get sound out of that head unit? :) Since, in forums or sites, people ALWAYS say that, if the car has factory Bose or HK sound system and want to replace the factory headunit with Android or any other branded unit, 'fiber optic decoder' must be used.. I'm a bit confused after watching your video.. Can you help me out with that? Thanks.. :)
hello! So this car did NOT have the fibre optics OEM amp. Just ran of the head unit as you can see speaker wires in the quad lock connector. If your car has fibre optics - merc used 2 systems the “basic” fibre optic system and the HK system. You can get retention modules from connects2 for the “basic” merc system. The HK is much harder. If you have the HK or have any other questions let me know I can point you in the right direction :)
Sony (or any other brand) come with the correct power plug but only goes to bare wires - to save you connecting them the step 2 ISO makes it 100% plug and play :)
