Dan Hamilton lived a few streets away in our little town in Washington. He used to bully my brother in high school. 😀 My brother remembers "Danny" as a football player, but according to the yearbook his only extracurricular was choir. I played bass with Dan Hamilton in one of the later versions of the band. He was quite the nice guy and an amazing vocalist. They were signed to Playboy Records, which was created by Hugh Hefner, as a venue for his then girlfriend Barbie Benton. They broke up and Hefner dissolved the record company, leaving all of their contracted artists to twist in the wind. Hamilton Joe Frank and Reynolds, was one of those unfortunate acts. This is one of those songs that only Dan Hamilton could have pulled off to the maximum desired effect among listeners. He had the winning formula - the right voice, a catchy hook and a memorable melody. Add to this his rock star rugged looks, personality and virtuoso musicianship and you have close to perfection as can be. Even after so many years that Dan released this song (early 70s), it still generates airplay worldwide. I cannot see any of today's songs having the same impact and longevity.
He was a complete and perfect musician. And yet, so underrated. Dan taught us that being discreet and humble in the world of music is a path to oblivion, but he also taught us that true music can withstand the test of time and become an eternal work of art. Perhaps the world doesn't know how to appreciate Danny as he deserves and confuses him with mere cmediatic of the era, but his music is the true art and will never be forgotten.
I'm 72 and it blows my mind that the oldest member of this group is 10 years older than I almost to the day and is now EIGHTY TWO. Dan was only 3 years younger than I, so he was about 24 when he recorded this and I loved it when it came out and I love it today. Such a shame he died so young; great voice, great songwriter. The whole group was eye candy too.
It can never be Debbie sadly ..... as a group they disbanded 43 years ago, and then Dan died ..... the two remaining members then went their separate ways.
I have always loved this song but never saw the band's pictures. I just stumbled across this video by accident. Such a handsome great singer. I feel bad that he has passed. What a voice!.
Hamilton was the next Elvis. Sadly He died so young from Cushing's syndrome ( basically glands that create too much cortisol ) People who have this condition usually skinny arms and legs and a round extended stomach similar to a beer belly. I knew someone in Canada that worked with Dan and he spoke how the music industry tried to hide his illness by having him wear clothes that hid his girth in the stomach area. He was a beautiful man and a good man I was told. Screw the music industry Dan. You were beautiful inside and out. May you rest in peace and know that We fans loved you. Sadly, It was a stroke that took his life which was a complication from his disease. I can only imagine how big a star Dan would have become. It breaks my heart,
Disse tudo!e eu, que SÓ há +- um mês que descobri ( por acaso) que ele tinha partido assim, tão precocemente😔...tanto talento , lindo ...mas , ficam as suas músicas que serão sempre eternas 😍😍😍

I always wanted to sing like this dude.. great voice.
I'm there with you
@@WAHOOUPS I always imagined this “dude” was singing the song to me 😆.. he didn’t put on airs ✌🏽
The Barbara Feldman?
I'm a little younger 67 yrs old, but this was great music. Love to return to the 70s
My oh my!! The song of my life! LOVE IT!!
I am 64 years old and this song brings back alot of memories good ones would love to see them in concert ❤️
It can never be Debbie sadly ..... as a group they disbanded 43 years ago, and then Dan died ..... the two remaining members then went their separate ways.
Little FOSS and Big Halsey, man they make a winning team! (Johnny Cash)
😞So sad...@@barryh.4220
Great music in a time when the world somewhat made sense.
So true , great times back then.
We were young 🤫
Elvis’s-brother he never knew he had. Dan Hamilton great voice incredible song
Indeed.
This could've been a "Vegas Era" Elvis tune, easily.
Reportedly the song was written with Elvis in mind to record it so the producers had it interpreted that way.
he does sound like Elvis
Agreed 😍
That Elvis sound...always thought that was him, in disguise.
私が中学生だった頃、放課後1人廊下を歩いていたら、校内放送でこの曲が流れてきて、なんて素晴らしい曲だと感激しました、今もこの曲を聴くと、あの時と同じ感激、感動で涙が出てきます。
Dan Hamilton is gorgeous! Could watch him sing all day long!
Hello Susan, How are you doing?
Me too. I was so in love with him 😊
He does have a nice mullet.
@@liamroberts9047 Go away creeper. This isn’t a dating site.
THIS IS A FIVE STAR SONG
You got that right ⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Most were back then.
Absolutely. Brings back so much memories from the boyhood years 👍
america has Alwayz loved your music!
Such a shame he died at such a young age. Extremely talented & very handsome.
Damn, they were hot, I loved them and I was 14 in 1971,great, innocent times!!!
When this song was popular, it was easy to overlook how great it was. The airwaves were full of similar songs...
I'VE HEARD FOR YEARS, NEVER SEEN THEIR FACES.
I have always loved this song but never saw the band's pictures. I just stumbled
across this video by accident. Such a handsome great singer. I feel bad that he has passed. What a voice!.
Hahahaha no doubt. Heard the song a million times and couldn’t pick these guys out of a lineup. Three tv stations and no google
Agree with you , I think his voice would have take him to the top of the charts, and to this day I feel sad that such a fine young man is gone from us, loved his voice
Hearing this song after all these years. Is what brought me here it was one of my favorite songs. Thank You so much for breaking everything all down. About what happened to Dan. I didn't even know he was gone😭😭.l will always love him and his beautiful voice. Gone But Never Forgotten 🕊️🕊️🕊️💔💔💔⭐⭐
He was way better than elvis!
I always thought it was Elvis.
Sadly those days are gone folks. ( 60s 70s 80s 90s ) 😢
,
The future has a difficult time competing with the past...
Now were in the age of weirdos
Brings back Happy Dancing young care free memories and I'm 68!
Another great US No1 that failed to chart in the UK
I'm 65 and still love this song, another example of why the 70's had the BEST music!!
R.I.P Dan Hamilton 🥺💔
These guys were really popular when I was growing up I'm now 63 and never get tired of their songs was born in 1960
They performed at Knott's Berry Farm in Southern California when I was working there. Fun times. 67 now and loving the walks down memory lane.
I always get excited to meet people who have seen them live. Could you share any anecdotes about it? Although it may seem strange, except for three TV appearances, there are no recordings of the band's live shows, nothing at all. So, having been there and enjoying their show is a great fortune.
I always thought Dan Hamilton had the sweetest voice.
One of those songs that reached out from your radio and grabbed by the scruff of your neck and made you listen. So strong and such a great positive vibe. The shaker in double time is perfect.
I invite you to my channel to listen to many more songs by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds. If you search for the playlist 'the best of HJF&R/D', you'll find all their music there.
His voice is just so incredible! ❤️
Yes It was and he was good looking and he is still miss.
Sounds like Elvis at times
@@scottvidmar913 It sounds so much like Elvis, he would have probably had a good hit with it --- but Don sings it just right for sure. It's one of the songs that reached #1 on my charts, then reached #1 again many years later. This song ONLY reached #4 on the national charts.
I mean, Dan, not Don.
@@cherylcollard5200 Yes, he was. What a cutie.
I had such a crush on Hamilton
What a great song. Thanks for that creativity. God bless.
Poor Dan Hamilton. He deserved a longer life and a better ending to it. Still he is immortalized here and on his other hit "Falling In Love. RIP and thanks for the great times!
Yes.. it's very sad when someone passes at an early age.. but Bible tells us absent from the body, present with the lord... I doubt very much Dan Hamilton if he had the choice would much rather be with his heavenly father in paradise.. wouldn't you? I would.. Jac
He was one gorgeous man....❤
Where all my fellow 50 year old fans at? I'm seeing so many comments of those lucky enough to go dancing or make out at "The Point" to this song but I was just a toddler when this song was becoming a classic. So glad I had cool young parents at the time that listened to awesome music. Gave me their 70's music so I love that as much as my 80's Brit pop and R&B as well as my hair bands and metal. I'm all over the board with what genres I love but tunes like this will ALWAYS hold a place in my heart!
Sane same!
And bout to turn 47 (so close enough; , mom was 30 when she had me in 76 and dad was 40, so older parents)
I’m 59! Thought o was the youngest on here! For once! Hahaha. Great song.
Man, I haven't heard this one in so long, it's not even Funny. We used to burn this one up at the Teen Club on Corpus Christi NAS back in the Early 70's! Definitely Brings back a LOT of Memories of my Friends when I was a Teen.

I'm 70 years young and loved singing when this song came on the radio
I’m 64 and this is how I pictured this group to look! I have always LOVED this song by this group!😍🎶
If anyone noticed Joe Reynolds' name didn't come up, he had left the group in 1972 but they continued with the same name. Alan Dennison joined the group in 1973 but it wasn't until 1976 that they changed their name to Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Dennison. They disbanded permanently in 1980.
I heard this song at my Dad's Indian Bingo casino and fell in love with it! These guys were so yummy! I was 9 years old- now I'm 60!!!😍
Back in the days when the Top 40 meant something!
