for those wondering, the nut driver should be 7/16" but anything close will work. he uses an "impact driver" but a regular drill should do the trick. And the screws are called "self tapping" if you lose them, need new ones or need to pick some up from a hardware store if they weren't shipped to begin with. :)
Yeah you just want to tighten till the lock nut locks in, so it gives you a bit of play for when you hit snags or bump into something to provide a bit of shock absorption, the blade is made of most strongest plastic I know of and does not crack as easy as the abs brace or handle may be, but as you say and I also agree its best to lock snug as the bit of slight play as I said will absorb obstructions like a suspension system on a car. The great thing is if you break any part of it you can just replace that part with such ease and not have to buy a whole new shovel like hardware or department store variety cheapos.
