    Great video. I didn't have the problem getting the old bearing out, thankfully. Perfect teaching for someone who hadn't replaced wheel bearings before. Many Thanks.

    Really appreciate this video, especially the part of putting the pawls/springs back into the hub correctly. You bailed me out the night before a GCQ race, working on my Niece's bike, the rear hub came apart, had no idea what to do until I came across your great video.
    Been meaning to post something, finally got around to it.

    A dead blow hammer is far superior to any other hammer for working on bikes. I got one and it makes everything so much easier and it doesn’t damage anything

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you explain what that is for me? I haven't heard of it before but that sounds really intriguing

    • @connersmith4104
      @connersmith4104 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dead blow hammers have metal pellets inside that move around and when the hammer hits something, all the pellets go forward and create a dead blow. This allows the hammer to impact and not bounce back like a rubber mallet. If that doesn’t make sense there is quit a few good videos on how they work

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can use the axle it's self to seat the driver side bearing into the shell. Once the bearing is seated just pull the axle out, flip it around, install from the non driver side, reinstall and tighten hardware.

    • @572checo21

      I would like to know if you can explain if thats possible or not???

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would very much doubt it, unless you have access to a machinist who can make the shell fit a sealed bearing. But even then the chances of it working are pretty slim.
      You’d be better off finding a used hub. I’ve seen used profile hubs sell for 40$ before

    • @Brant_Moore

      No grease on profile or Madera drivers. They’re designed to be used without.

      Not in profile/madera rear hubs. They are designed to function dry.
      If you use anything, it should only be a tiny amount of clear oil on the pocket where the pawl sits so that it can move freely.
