    14:30 looks like maybe a buffalo sculpin to me.

    I advise against fishing under the bridge. I used to fish on the other side - before the second bridge. I fished directly under as that seemed the safest. Once time kids were dropping rocks. Another time a jumper landed on the rocks about 20 feet from me. No more fishing that day. All cops and fireboat, etc. Now with two bridges you are not completely protected by being under one roadway.

    I’m 2 years too late in finding this video but I like in Oak Harbor. I been trying to learn Spey since I was younger in the surf here and haven’t had much luck. Caught a pink back in 2015 on my Spey but you make me want to just fish the surf to see what I turn up

    Nice! Neo fly fishing is where it's at! Can't remember the last time I caught a trout, having too much fun chasing everything else. Hope to build myself a 2 hander soon and have a go in the surf.

    I’ve eaten buffalo sculpin they are similar to a catfish but the one I cut was as big as a smallmouth bass and that was about two or three years ago five years ago actually

    2:43 is not a stagghorn sculpin. It’s a buffalo sculpin. Still cool nontheless

    Kids have a blast catching those shore species. Try going to a river mouth and you might get into some searun cutthroat trout. Those are a blast on light fly gear.

    That's not a Staghorn Sculpin you caught at 2.31, it's a BUFFALO SCULPIN (Enophrys Bison).. besides the two large "horns" (similar to the Bull Sculpin of California) the orange margins of the pectoral fins are the features that tell you it's a Buffalo Sculpin....

    Pretty cool. Believe it or not, your videos got me into Spey casting. I didn't know you could fish like that off the beach. Bottom fishing even more surprising. Bad production is entertaining.

    I care about kelp greenlings. They make awesome ling cod bait🙂 Second only to sand dabs. I need to get out after the searuns this year. Water looked beautiful!

  • @jimtaku

    Hi There, I was wondering if you knew whether or not kelp greenling is still legal to keep in puget sound. Lingcod and Rockfish have been closed, but I'm not entirely sure where kelp greenling stands.

    Nice I use a two handed trout Spey rod for sea runs too! Nice video!

    • @jaaron2834
      @jaaron2834 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can basically use a 2 handed Spey for most target fish… this guy is living proof… on the central Cali coast … you name it … it gets caught on a Spey setup …. not a whole lot of people swing a Spey … but those that do … target just about anything that will take a fly… Stripers, Halibut, perch…etc.etc.etc…
      Fly gear definitely makes things a bit more interesting..! 👍😎🤙

    I would like to know more about the size and colors of your flies. Where do you buy them?

    • @tylerdoesflyfishing7191
      @tylerdoesflyfishing7191  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I make them myself, they are usually 4-5 inches and just the standard pink on purple. Go to Spawn Fly fish and pick up the jig shanks and beads!

    Just an FYI. Pacific Staghorn Sculpins are not venomous.
