If that so i dont think thats a good idea because hank pym ended up not getting much to do and wasnt a big presence in the universe. I dont want that for hal.
There's also some new names added to the rumored list such as Matthew mcconaughey, Timothy Olyphant, and Chris pine. I personally would love for it to be Chris pine.
I absolutely hate the idea of an older Hal Jordan. If Josh Brolin is playing Hal, he won't appear in more than 2 projects for DC. A younger and upcoming actor needs to play Hal. Hal and John need to be in their mid thirties and be able to show up in multiple DC projects.
What I'm guessing they could be doing doing is perhaps the parallax storyline route if this rumor is true. Which while i would love to see that play out i feel like we need more time with Hal Jordan as this is most likely setting him up to die. I really hope James Gunn starts getting younger actors because already Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardener) and Kumali ali Nanjiani (Booster Gold) just doesn't feel like a good idea age wise. The only green lantern that should be older is Alan Scott Green Lantern
Josh Brolin would be great as Hal. I'm a fan of the OP Justice League with Jon Stewart so I think Josh's (as Jordan) portrayal of a mentor for Stewart would be Legendary.
It's probably a Men in Black scenario. Where the elder statesman recruit the young ambitious former military turned cop. Who is introduced to a galactic threat that's killing earthlings disguised as a human. And it's Hal's most elusive case. That's a concept that intrigues me!
The one thing I would say is that maybe James Gunn is doing what the MCU did with Ant-Man. Hank Pym was THE Ant-Man in the comics, and in the MCU the main Ant-Man is Scott Lang, his temporary successor in the comics. So maybe the idea is that Hal Jordan is this experience veteran as a Green Lantern and is looking for a successor in John Stewart.
I will say this again and again. Nathan Fillion was the perfect fit for Hal Jordan given he already played him in the animated movies. I even messaged Collider back in the days about him playing Hal Jordan.
As much as I love Josh Brolin I feel like he’s a little too intimidating to be Hal Jordan, he seems like someone you’d cast to play a stone cold serious type of hero, given Hal Jordan’s cocky, arrogant hot shot type of personality I feel like they need to cast someone with a little more charisma
I feel they should cast younger. Hal is a very important GL and easily the most well known. His stories are at the crux of the GL mythology. Making him older and grizzled removes the scope of covering a lot of those stories.
@@BusterBarnes John Stewart is a very different character who would not work in Hal Jordan's stories. Why would you want to do that to John Stewart anyways?
@nikunjdixit1175 not saying that's what I'd do. But you've also got to realise these are inspired by tye comics not a clear cut copy and paste. Also yes Hal has his stories but there are alot of GL stories were you could interchange the character tbh. Although they might just do something original
@@BusterBarnes Not for Hal Jordan. And certainly you can't exchange Hal and John. John is such a specifically different character and Hal is basically "the green lantern" of the DC comics. Its just like giving Barry Allen's storylines to Wally West.
Given that Hal Jordan is supposed to be older in the comics (at least according to what James Gunn said) I expected them to cast an actor in their mid to late 40's but I wasn't expecting to cast an actor in their 50's like Josh Brolin.
I can’t believe I live in a world where people think Brolin is a bad casting. Such a great actor. The premise of an older Hal mentoring John Stewart was pitched to us awhile back. Nothing new
I don’t remember Hal Jordan in the comics throwing out comedic quips the way Ryan Renolds does in the movie. Pretty sure Hal Jordan in the comics is nothing like Ryan Renolds.
A older version of Hal Jordan i can see him in that role. When John Stewart became a Green Lantern Hal Jordan was Green Lantern for a while, and i hope we see Jessica Cruz and Simond Baz as well.
Yeah, apparently the series is supposed to be more like a Lethal Weapon type of pairing. John Stewart is supposed to be a younger recruit partnered with a more experienced Hal Jordan.
This casting choice is unexpected, yes, but hopefully once we see the show and its story, he will make sense as the character. Like every other 'slightly wierd but not bad' thing I have heard of the DCU, my expression remains the same: Let Senator Gunn Cook!
Hal Jordon first appearance was in the 60s Jon Stewart first appearance was in the 70s that’s why they’re going with Hal being the older Green Lantern of the two
Brolin is too old to start as the new DCU's Green Lantern. However, he would be perfect as the "older" Hal Jordan mentoring a younger John Stewart a.k.a. DCU's "Main" Green Lantern.
I haven't read many green lantern books, but Kyle Rayner is usually the youngest lantern so to speak. So he could easily show up down the line as an up-in-coming trainee. Maybe show off some Anime Mecha constructs that keep popping up for me online?
If they are doing a buddy-cop Green Lantern movie, one young and one old, with some humor, like MIB, instead of Josh Brolin, maybe Josh Duhamel or Timothy Olyphant, both look like an older Hal Jordan and both have comedy backgrounds. James Marsden is not bad as well.
An Aldis Hodge to stay as Hawkman they should as in that role because John Stewart dates, Hawk girl, and the age difference between the Hawkman that he’s playing in the Hawkgirl that would upset some folks
If I was Wb or D.C. I honestly would cast Jonathan majors as Stewart/green lantern. Perfect performance as a soldier in lovecraft. Plus having a great actor that is rebuilding his career. Most likely you will get him for a very cheap rate.
Josh Brolin is a great actor, but I can't see him as Hal Jordan. Josh Brolin would be great as Deathstroke Atrocitus Swamp Thing Mongul Brainiac Vandal Savage Janos Prohaska/Blackhawk. Hal Jordan is abrasive, cocky, sarcastic, and arrogant. And I can't see Josh Brolin pulling it off. Miles Teller, Alden Ehrenreich, James Marsden, Jensen Ackles, Glen Powell, Chris Pine, Taylor Kitsch, Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer Chris Evans would all make a great Hal Jordan. I want Alden Ehrenreich to be Hal Jordan but since they are going older then they should get Chris Pine. John Boyega Corey Hawkins or Michael B Jordan should be John Stewart. I want Michael B Jordan as Black Lightning. Luke Evans needs to be Sinestro
Brolin would be a good Hal Jordan to mentor a young John Stewart, but this is a sign Hal might not be in this universe for long, if Hal dies I think John Stewart and Kyle raynor will be the two main lanterns in the DCU
