Awesome vid!.....probably some of THE BEST St. Maarten footage that I have seen on TH-cam. Thanks very much for posting all the great footage. :) I have never been to St. Maarten (sadly)....I was just wondering if you could tell me if it is possible to film on the Eastern end of the runway. From your footage, I can clearly see that there is a roadway right at the end of runway 28. I would think that someone could get some amazing footage of the oncoming planes that then pass overhead and bank to the South. I have yet to see any footage from that end from any TH-camr. I'm not saying it's a better spot than where you filmed from....the spot that you filmed from is obviously spectacular......but I'd personally love to see some footage of at least a few oncoming planes (like say a 747 or an A340, for instance) as well. Thank you, It is possible to spot at the end of the runway from the road which goes to Simson bay, I have also found a good place where aircraft take off from the runway it is with rental companies Herts which has an office in a building with a flat roof and if you ask them nicely may well be allowed to go up there. Highly recommend a trip to St. Maarten :-) Have ordered my next trip in 2016 and I am pleased about already .....
I feel like after Irma, a lot of commercial services to Sint Martin were subsided, if you go on Flightradar24 and check the arrivals board, there's only 3 flights from the U.S. Around 14 flights from other Caribbean Islands, and zero flights from anywhere else in one day. Yet before Irma, there were TONS of flights going in and out of Sint Martin. You had at least 8 daily flights from the U.S. Over 20 flights from other Caribbean Islands, and flights from Panama City, Toronto, Amsterdam, and Paris! But until the Island is 100% itself again, air traffic into Sint Martin will be chopped in half and will stay that way....
The plane at 14:00 did they really need to taxi onto the stopway? I always thought it may not be take off distance? Or did he just do this to fry/barbecue some of the bystanders? :D I'm confused now. Even the jumbo needed a shorter takeoff distance. But Im not a pilot, so I might be totally wrong. Thx :) and nice video btw.

No they did not need to do that. That area is the stopway/blastpad and is supposed to be unusable for taxi, takeoff, and landing. If you notice there is also a displaced threshold on this runway prior to the threshold markings, which is where the KLM starts its roll at 15:21. That area is available for taxi and takeoff only and is accounted for in the TODA, where the chevrons are not. Whats done is done lol

The little jet at 14:40 tried to make it as close to the end of the run way and give it all full throttle to make the watchers feel as much of his thrust as possible.. LOL

The a340 200/300s are cool aircraft but their so underpowered I'm always amazed that they are able to take off from Juliana.

The first landing was just amazing!
16:23 to 17:48 has two American Airliners. The landing plane was an Airbus A330 while the taking off plane was a Boeing 767.

OK, PH-BFY has been in the air for some years! First flight was on 30 March 2002. in 2013 where I was on St. Maarten, I flew with this plane.
