The only $5 tickets I ever see that have odds close to that are the ones where the top prize is $250, but there are a lot of those prizes out there or if the ticket has a minimum win amount that's more that the price of the ticket. But honestly, those are like 1: 4.75 as opposed to 1: 3.99 for the usual $5 ticket. So, yeah, those odds are preposterous. I guess the heads of the lottery commission, who are probably already pulling down hundreds of thousands a year, need new BMWs.
I think you're thinking of Hurricane Andrew in '92. My husband was around 5 years old and living with his dad in Miami during that one. They left for Massachusetts and never looked back.
Hoosier Lottery had these tickets for the last 2 years. They are pulling them now. The difference is that the Hoosier Lottery Top Prize on these was 100K. Same print, same play style, less money, less winners. Since Indiana "leased" their lottery to G-Tech like 12 years ago, winning and retailers payments have went down but profits to the state and the operator have increased.

My plan is if things really start looking like they’re going to be really, really bad where we are, then I will go to our local community shelter, which is run by the Sheriff and it’s only about a mile from our house. So we are very close to a place to evacuate to if we need to😊
