All the gear and no idea strikes again - one day everything will work as intended but until then you'll need to deal with half assed audio and shaky video - sorry!
If you’re able to adjust the gain on the mic, that may help. It does sound like the preamp is starting to clip. The dead kitten is doing a great job. No issues with wind noise.
That is certainly a cheap lease deal, keep a document of the rust so they can’t try and charge you for it in 12 months time, looking forward to seeing how it holds up over the lease agreement, cheers fella 👍
Did you watch TeslaBjorn’s long range test of this pick-up before jumping on the lease? Basically he reckoned it was the worst EV he’s tested………… he even had to guess the electric consumption / efficiency (which was very high and not great!). Efficiency would be helped if there were a cover for the load bed. Surely the Ami would fit in the load bed!
Will be interested how you get on with it. Good for you for giving it a go though. Can’t believe the rust, that’s really poor for a brand new vehicle, even one that’s been sitting around for several months.
I'm sure it's going to be a joy to drive for a year? Will you try moving large items in it before the trailer is hitched up? This will be fun in all the country lanes and parking spaces, hahaha...
Interesting review, as always, thanks. Can you please share a link to the Carplay gadget, I’m keen to look into that if i go ahead and get the PS2 - cheers
It’s.. bad 🙈 A punter could’ve bought one in white for £19790 ex vat at the start of Dec, so you can assume the lease company paid even less for it. What it’ll be worth in a year is anyone’s guess!
Scrap value? Doesn't matter. We've now got the batteries in the UK to be stripped out and use for grid storage. Hmm. I wonder if there's enough to make it worth buying them just for that?
Looks amazing, I suppose if you run out of parking space you've got somewhere to park the ami. seriously some lucky person will get a nice cheap truck after your lease is up.
I saw them in a Ford dealer, I took a look underneath to see a fan motor bolted to a beam axle. Seemed like a truck body on a milk float 😢 under the bonnet a lot of stuff put together in a kinder garden 😮
No way on earth could I cope with that as a daily driver...on UK roads and parking bays utter hell on wheels.....the rust is seriously concerning on a new vehicle and can only get worse.
I’m not surprised it’s going rusty, leaving a car out in all weather for a year without driving it, I’m surprised that the brake discs haven’t rotted away too 😂
Did I see you driving this through Windsor yesterday (Saturday) with a passenger? First one I’ve seen in real life… thought the huge grille was a bit better in person than it looks in pics/videos (but not much). Tried to get one of these leases but just missed the boat. Possibly for the best…
Should be interesting to drive on some of our narrower roads! I actually preferred the front end to the tailgate, which I think would be better body coloured, but I'm never going to drive one, so hey ho! Cheers
Clearly the Maaxus is super low rent. Can't imagine anyone paying £50k for one. Whilst £99/mth is brilliant, I would want to pay even £250/mth for one.
@ModernHeroes I saw those but for a pickup it might be OK. But for a low rent Chinese pickup, it's expensive in my eyes. Certainly your £99/mth was a bargain. Maybe it will be repeated in 2024 as I don't imagine they will sell many units.
US statistics show that pickups are about 80% more likely to run over pedestrians than cars. That's why people say they're dangerous. Because the country most into them, kills a lot more people because they drive them as cars and not work vehicles. So yeah, borne out by road traffic accident statistics. Of course, they have more, fewer people driving them do so for work, they have the biggest you can get as well. Still, yes, pickups (and SUVs) literally hit more people than cars do. I feel like that's not the fault of the pedestrians who presumably have a better chance of noting an F-250 than any other vehicle. But, it could just be the owners are drawn predominantly from the worst cohort of drivers? *shrugs*
I think they're trying to make crossovers and SUV and pickups masculine, because either they're selling to people who are attracted to their cars, or who have trouser department anxiety. Much the same sort of problems people try and solve with a Ferrari or a Golf Gti. They're all ego extensions, really. I'd still rather see the same nonsense being electric though. I'm confident the Ami is more roughty toughty though.
why would any one pay that much. I would ask why would you even get this. unless you have a certain purpose for it. Battery size, range real world. insurance group. how easy is it to find an insurer to it. You said AT LEAST a year, cost per a mile. does it have reverse camera :??? So will there be a lot of videos. I would not put anything in the bed that can be carried as I cane see it go walkabouts
@@ModernHeroes I'm going to predict right now that if they do, you won't want to. Mind you, while I don't think you'll like it, I also don't think the competition is coming and that you'll find something else interesting enough to replace it with at anything approaching a similar price. Maybe a Dacia Spring?
Why do you ascertain that the Highways Agency can't negotiate a good deal, maybe a good deal was offered as a visual presence can be a good cheap advertising avenue for the makers?
@@ModernHeroes You are one of those pub bores that always believe that public services are robbing everyone whilst earning loads of money for their presence.
Because government procurement in most countries is notoriously incompetent if not outright corrupt and the UK is included in the 'most' bit there. We just bought the Marines a version of the M16 which is older than most living British citizens, as an upgrade over *checks notes* an identical calibre weapon that's newer and we've worked on for decades with better respected arms manufacturers. Or you can look up HS2, or how the new aircraft carriers are going. Or if you want a real challenge, take the other direction. Find us a few examples you can quote of the Office for Budget Responsibility saying we got a great deal on something and it being widely reported we had in fact, got a good deal.

Yeah I've since looked at the manual for it and it seems I had the gain set wrong - doesn't help there's no readout on the mic receiver itself.
Maybe have a stiff drink before filming the next one. Can you enable stabilisation on your camera/phone?
@@zilspeed it's dead cat, isn't it? No-one would be so crass as to use a kitten. 🤣
Great video and review despite the tech details going on …no brainer for the 100 pcm
"The cybertruck from temu" love it 😅
Car notwithstanding, congratulations on your magnificent jumper.
I reckon this will be my favourite series so far.
It is so cheap that, i think, you cannot go wrong

Cylontruck with that grill 😂
Wow!
From the Ami to the Maxus!
Quite a change for you! :)

It being a bit shit is half of the appeal.

What’s the battery capacity and range for this? Being very heavy will compromise the latter maybe?
comment for the algorithm. Would be good if it had some kind of plug socket/outlet in the load bed, see it a lot on American trucks.
Yeah sadly not. Theres a 220v socket in the cabin but it only has a 150w output!
Great intro with the drone...👍
Looking forward to future videos regarding range, practicality etc., but for now, does it have a frunk?
Nope! Huge amount of wasted space under the massive bonnet.
My Toyota has mediumwave and even longwave on the radio. Can yours do that ? 😁

That grill just eat a RAM truck 😮
Can't complain on £99/mth.
Haul the hell out if it!
Saw one at the local supermarket yesterday. Looked like a nice bit of kit.
Had auto wipers on 2 mercs and 2 beemers. Auto wipers never worked properly.
Our Mondeo 2013 1.6d according to the Log book can tow 1700kg as long as it is braked!!!

Brilliant introduction just highlighting how a UK car parking space just can't deal with cars this big!
Excellent & really interesting. Looking forward to Ami/tow content for sure. Regards.
Never mind towing… Would Ami fit on the load bed? :-)
Sadly not 😢
I actually really like how these look.
You didn't tell us about range and charging times
Plenty of time for that.
Thanks for sharing and good luck.
Shame the Ami won't fit in the bed 😂 I'm here for both the Ami and the Temu Truck.
Wonder what they will sell them for used? They would have got them cheap, but they lease on earns them £1300. What's the insurance like?
It’s.. bad 🙈

Can you fit the Ami in the flatbed? You would probably snap off the tailgate.
Cannot believe some people got these for £60/month. Watching the thread on pistonheads is fun.
Yeah the £60 deals are insane, I thought I did well!
Will the Ami fit in the bed with ramps?
No way on earth could I cope with that as a daily driver...on UK roads and parking bays utter hell on wheels.....the rust is seriously concerning on a new vehicle and can only get worse.
It’s no worse on the road than most bigger cars or vans. The length is a pain when parking but 🤷♂️
Yes, it's more of a length problem. No denying, that you got a hell of a deal on it for 12 months, worth a punt.
Yup, a noticeable amount of camera wobble... no stability program it seems? Interesting truck, but as you say, set at a ridiculous price.
It's a big boy!! Love it. Get it on the dragstrip with carwow!
A handsome beast of a machine and I particularly like that chrome effect grill!

Not me! With over 900 of them shipped out on these deals I reckon they’re going to become quite a common sight!
Looking at the cheap interior it was obviously made to a price…and a high one!
Liking the BB stripes on the jumper.

It doesn’t fit in a parking space, will you not get fined for not parking within the white lines.
Depends where you park I guess - obviously wouldn't leave it parked like it was when filming.
Worst clickbait title ever - Love it !
Disconnect the warning system and you are no longer insured !
Shamelessly copying Tesla Cybertruck with surface rust right from the factory.
😂 👏

There’s a pretty big difference in size between this (and its peers sold in the UK/Europe) and a F250 though.
Well this should be fun. I'm sure you just need a couple of rramps to get the Ami in the bed all tucked up nice 😂 👍
