- Sadie's sweet six Labrador Retriever puppies are now in their 5th week of life. They are all so beautiful; How will Mr and Mrs HDL choose which female to be a future High Desert Labradors momma?
Based on the popular vote from our TH-cam Community, the names of these gorgeous Labrador Retriever puppies are based on Greek mythology:
Zeus (male) - blue, Athena - yellow, Aphrodite - pink, Iris - purple, Leda - green, Hera - red

I am not so secretly hoping Sweet Iris is selected to join big brother Bevo/Drake; would love to see that dynamic duo. Athena is a free-spirit and independent pupper, so motherhood may not be on her future agenda🤣 They're all incredibly special to me.
My favorite is Leda, but they are all beautiful sweet puppies.

Admittedly I am not a breed expert so I don't care about breed-specific characteristics, but I am rooting for Hera. She is cute and (more importantly) calm and sweet-tempered, which is what I as a dog mama would look for in puppies.

If you're seeking one who has Sadie's temperament, I think so far Hera is the most similar. Too early to tell, of course.
Hera is SO incredibly sweet and beautiful. She also seems to be the most gentle and calm. Seems like I have a favorite! 🥰❤️

I think Athena and Aphrodite are natural choices. I cant decide if the third should be Hera or Iris. Hera is a thinker and Iris is so beautiful.
I agree. Aphrodite with the first choice for me. But they’re all so gorgeous.

I think Hera is the most intelligent, but Athena is the natural leader, Aphrodite is my favourite, and Iris and Leda are perfect balance in temperament and playfulness. If cost is no issue, sample all 5 and delay the decision.

Hera is really starting to stand out to me, but Aphrodite and Athena have been my favorite pups. They are all great, though, for sure.
The puppies are getting so tall while their babyfaces are still adorable as ever. As you were talking about the future female HDL momma from this litter, it was perfect timing that Leda & Aphrodite, and Hera & Iris were wrestling with each other. It's a hard decision to make. Would the temperament test also be factored into the decision?
It all gets considered. It is almost impossible with these to pick! Just like with Kobe!!

Whichever female athlete who was first to escape the pool is one of the two choices for me - Iris or Athena?
First two escapees were Athena and Hera.
@@FourSeasons04 They are the winning love bugs, though I would adore ALL of them, including, of course, Mr. Man, Zeus if I could have a large dog! If they stayed puppies, I would forever home one in a heartbeat!

Read lots about dogs, spend time with them. See if you might be able to help at an animal shelter/rescue facility as that would be great experience. Make sure you work hard at school so it helps you learn properly!

IDK, You just reminded me why I really loathe Breeders. Yes I understand it's your line wanting to continue. I feel like it just came out, you didn't say it but you did in a way, nothing but livestock. I know, I get it but you don't see stray Cows or Pigs in Shelters. I'm sure your Pups fetch a ungodly sum of money but there's a big problem in our World with strays and such. Shelters are overloaded animals being put down because of it and you just breed more with every cycle. The best Dogs we ever had came from Shelters. Our last GSD Shelby I'd have given my life for her, the Pup we found in a backroom of a Pet Store that they were gonna dump because she wasn't "pure" was a incredible Dog. They would have died, instead they had wonderful life's with our family. You're gonna do what you do and that's keep this cycle going. Here's a thought and question, so many are looking for Service Animals do you or have you bred a liter for Service? Ever? More than once? There are a lot of noble goals for Animals. Profit isn't one, just saying that's all. I like you but tonight livestock and profit finally came to the front.
Thanks for your honesty! We have indeed had many puppies go on to be service animals. We also donate profits to CCI.org a nonprofit organization that matches deserving individuals with carefully selected and trained companion animals that offer life-changing assistance. I’m so glad you’ve adopted shelter pups... we refer most of the people that contact us to their local rescue organization! If we were all about the $, we would have many dogs to produce as many puppies as possible to meet the high demand for HDL puppies. Instead; we have just 1-2 litters per year. As you’ve seen, our dogs are part of our family.
@@HighDesertLabradors This is why I do enjoy HDL and the Streams. I understand it's not a perfect world and do appreciate your honesty. I think no matter what it's a tough business matter for you. I've always felt that Service was and is a higher calling. To be honest I'm still waiting for a Service Dog. This last year has been very tough, the benefits of getting older. I wish you well and will Strongly say you're not a mill or any such like. You absolutely car not only about the Dogs you breed but about who gets one and how they're treated and you give top notch care to them. Thanks for taking a moment.
