I love how you dote on Whitney’s lower register. People think for some reason her lower register was “weak” but Whitney lower register was fully supported and severely underrated. The way she had that amazing vibrato in her lower register was phenomenal. Her vibrato was amazing throughout her entire range from lower register to head voice. I remember seeing this that night. My parents had surround sound on our television and we heard every single note she sang--loud and clear. We all stood up and applauded like the audience was doing. Ms Whitney is the greatest vocalist of all time, in her prime she was untouchable.
When someone is a master of her instrument, she can do anything with it. Just like a pianist who can play Bach and rock. She could sing anything. I’ll always be in awe of her talent.
Those three note runs are so subtle and undetectable that when you actually do them you realize the masterclass of a vocalist she was. Sneaking in those runs right after a high belt… she is not to be underestimated!
I know nothing about singing. But I know what I feel. When I hear Ms. Houston sing I feel every word. Your comment about capturing the emotional content of the lyric is spot on 😊😊😊
The live version of All the man that i need is way more “explanatory” like what voice Whitney really had, i wish there would be more reaction to “classics” like that, thank u. 😌
I've watched this performance so many times and I don't think I'd ever noticed her deathly glance at whoever's backstage after the "will a memory survive" slightly off note and the pointing to her earpiece 😂
When you have that kind of ability and control over your vocal cords, you can play around with timing and even the notes a little bit and nobody questions it because it sounds great.
I appreciate the fact that you point out when she misses that note how it’s ok. We are so used to auto tune that we forget someone can be an iconic singer (or anything for that matter) and that doesn’t mean they have to be perfect!
Goosebumps! Whitney makes me cry! I loved when they tried to compare her to Maria in an interview and Whitney spoke so highly of Mariah! They cannot be compared. Both are amazing in their own way. Same with Celine Dion. They are all Legends!
I don’t have an ear for singing or the talent but I absolutely love to sing. What a great emotional release to sing what you feel! Whitney is the best! This was a wonderful breakdown. I learned so MUCH!
Thanks for letting the rest of us know how hard these performances were. You should react to her singing this song from her performance in South Africa. To my ear, it was literally flawless. But you have to find the right version, she must have done multiple performances while there. But sheesh, credit to her Mother miss Sissy, she must have been a phenomenal vocal coach. Whitney at 22/23 voice was purely angelic.
She was the best singer. Unfortunately, she did not take care of herself and her voice in the last years and that was hurtful to watch. This was a great performance. Man, she had great songs.
When she was off key she could not hear herself she signaled with an ear tap for the engineer. They also said she was sick but she was still exceptional! Even with the cough drop toss! Loved your reaction, very informative!
I think a great thing to point out in regards to live performance is making sure you can hear yourself. If you notice a few seconds after the little slip up, she subtly cues for more of her in her monitor. I’ve learned that not being able to hear yourself can throw off even the most gifted of singers, which is what we saw here. So make sure you get your levels right in sound check and don’t be afraid to get the sound engineer on it.
We NEED more Whitney reactions, I've been waiting for this since i subscribed! Please do All the Man That I Need live at Welcome Home Heroes next, it's here on TH-cam 💜
We demand more Whitney from you! Not really, of course, but we would love more Whitney live reactions. There are so many wonderful performances to choose from.
A singer I know could spend vocal dollars through out the whole song. It’s Morisette Amon singing “Gusto ko nang bumitaw”. Watch the live version and you’ll be showered in vocal dollars.
I, just as many others probably, would love to see your critical and professional analysis of whitney's song "miracle", an absolute masterpiece !! I'm sure we would learn a lot from it if you could please do it in the foreseeable futur ! Thank you very much
I emailed this but not sure if that’s an automated email: “We are all different but we bleed the same” fully body chills and what a beautiful message. I also LOVE your placement on “change”. That classic belt is so yours.
You may have already seen it , albeit privately, but you haven’t reacted to it, but you should check out Sohyang’s live performance of this song at the DMC festival!!! I can promise that you won’t regret it. Keep up the good work, it puts an entirely different spin on reaction video’s when people, such as yourself, that actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to singing, try & help us everyday folk understand what the singer is doing & how they make it sound as they do, thankyou Tara.
Whitney knew that note was off, because her in Ear was off, that is why she took her right hand up to her ear, to let Them know that she couldn’t hear.
Hello i would like to recommend you listen Tina Karol's perfomance , she is also a very good snger, she has a powerful voice and she also has a whistle register Tina Karol- Close your eyes (Live)
Such a big fan of your craft Tara. Love how talented and great you are. Can you please react to Perrie Edwards cover of "I wanna dance with somebody " at Capital
That off note you could see she was struggling to hear herself. She tuned and signaled to the sound people to turn her monitors up if you watch closely you can see it.
Hello Tara ! ☺️ Please react to Yseult’s performance of ´My Way’ (Sinatra) at the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony. She’s such a wonderful French singer and I would love to hear your thoughts and analysis on her vocals for this one. 😉
if you see very closely, after missing the note she looks at the sound technician and points to her ear, her feedback was probably low, which justifies her going out of tune at that specific moment. 4:39
Thanks for these videos. Would you clarify for me: to produce a mix voice (extremely vague, I know considering how the sound is actually produced vs where the resonance/placement are all involved) would you be using both the TA and CT muscles at the same time? Or is that not possible, and really you are just very quickly using one and then the other depending on the sound you want to make? For example, would the TA and CT muscles both have to be equally active to produce an evenly mixed note, and then as you ascend to mix higher the TA muscles become less involved (but still active) while the CT muscles continue to gain more control? An example of this would be Whitney when she sings a C5, vs an E5, vs a G5 all in her full voice (think All The Man That I Need live On Arsenio Hall or Saving All My Love For You live in Japan...both being quick G5s where she then does descending runs, in the climaxes of the song). Is she using ONLY TA muscles at G5, or did the CT have to come in at some point in order to help the TA by the time she gets to the G5? I was having a lively conversation with someone the other day about how I think Whitney could’ve “lightened her mix more” like Patti Labelle or Lisa Fischer...rather than staying so “chesty” especially as she got older. The other commenter said I was incorrect and that you cannot use M1 and M2 at the same time, therefore Whitney was using M1 and belting G5s, not mixing. Any insight you can give me would be helpful. Thanks!
Hi coach please react to Katrina Velarde WHITNEY HOUSTON MEDLEY (MusicHall Metrowalk2018) And try also react of cover "SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAIN" at music hall metrowalk... thanks and more power to you!!!

Miss Houston was, is and forever will be The Voice. One of a kind.
I've heard this song a million times from her, I think this live performance is my favorite, raw and vulnerable, you will be missed. Whitney Houston.
Those three note runs are so subtle and undetectable that when you actually do them you realize the masterclass of a vocalist she was. Sneaking in those runs right after a high belt… she is not to be underestimated!
The audience RISING TO THEIR FEET man goosebump inducing. WHEN WILL WE HAVE THIS AGAIN?!
AND Whitney does all this vocal magic without even trying. The power she had to deliver in a performance is astounding.
I know nothing about singing. But I know what I feel. When I hear Ms. Houston sing I feel every word. Your comment about capturing the emotional content of the lyric is spot on 😊😊😊
Ms Tara you are really technical when you react to songs and that's what I love about your reactions!
And I'll piggyback on your comment to add that i have actually applied her tips and they work.
Everything about Whitney's voice is perfection! We are so unbelievably grateful to have experienced her in our lifetime, there will never be another.
Finally! I'm so happy you revisited The Voice! She's beyond remarkable.
The voice ❤
Oh you went way back ! One of the ultimate classics!
STUNNING
The live version of All the man that i need is way more “explanatory” like what voice Whitney really had, i wish there would be more reaction to “classics” like that, thank u. 😌
WHITNEY LITERALLY BIRTH AN ENTIRE GENERATION OF SINGERS ! The influence her vocals had is amazing
I love Whitney Houston voice ❤❤
My fav female singer
I've watched this performance so many times and I don't think I'd ever noticed her deathly glance at whoever's backstage after the "will a memory survive" slightly off note and the pointing to her earpiece 😂
The One Moment In Time performance during grammy awards where she was wearing white was also impressive
That’s my icon there. I love you Whitney.
More Whitney Houston please especially her at her prime

Goosebumps! Whitney makes me cry! I loved when they tried to compare her to Maria in an interview and Whitney spoke so highly of Mariah! They cannot be compared. Both are amazing in their own way. Same with Celine Dion. They are all Legends!

She was the best singer. Unfortunately, she did not take care of herself and her voice in the last years and that was hurtful to watch. This was a great performance. Man, she had great songs.
This is my favorite Whitney song. Written about Elvis Presley by Linda Thompson (Elvis' ex).

The standard in which everybody tries to be.
It's INSANE i just released why so many people said Whitney's soul was with Rihanna during her LOTB live performance at BBMAS
Whitney knew that note was off, because her in Ear was off, that is why she took her right hand up to her ear, to let Them know that she couldn’t hear.
