I have a pattern that says Cast On Long Tail Knitwise and Purl wise 2x2. I've found videos on doing an alternating rib stitch that don't use long tail method and ran into some confusions. Like it seems they didn't include the slip knot in their stitch count. They also did knit gymnastics to achieve the alternating 2x2. I'm not sure how to tackle this. Maybe I just try the slingshot method and alternate every 2...😅😵💫
Hello! There are many different ways to cast on for ribbing, though I'm sorry to hear that the one your pattern uses is confusing. The key thing to keep in mind, no matter what method you use, is that each stitch added to your needles counts as one stitch! So if you begin your cast-on with a slipknot, then the stitch that slipknot creates is the first stitch.
I'm so sorry to hear that our video is too fast of you! I would recommend going to the settings (you can click the gear icon in the bottom menu of the video) and selecting the "Playback Speed" option. To slow down the video, you can choose either 0.75, 0.5, or 0.25, depending on your preferred speed!
I have been looking for this cast on for a long time. Thank you.
A superb video, and this cast on is not scary!
