He was able to sing on Cream Soda song but he wasn't in the music video. He's the guy in the red suit in Love Shot and has the Abs in Obsession. BTW, the Mama song is actually a protest song. In order to understand the story in EXO's "Monster" MV, as well as all of EXO's content, you have to know that it's all connected, and every new piece that's introduced explains a little more of EXO's story. Each MV is like another chapter in SM Entertainment's SM Culture Universe storyline and it's all part of a larger story that also includes the majority of SM's other groups' and artists' storylines. It's like a giant graphic novel or mystery movie series. Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything -- including all of their MVs, the majority of their sub-sub-unit MVs and members' solo MVs, teaser videos, concert stages, concert VCRs (videos played in between sets at concerts) and choreography, as well as special content included with their albums, etc. -- is designed to help tell a little more of EXO's story. EXO debuted back in 2012, and from the very beginning their concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have come to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. And as otherworldly beings, each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them. "Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV. As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." Therefore, the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also was supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is also red, which means that it most likely represents something to do with the Red Force.
However, if you look up the English translation of the lyrics, you will see in the song, the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. Which could be a metaphor for EXO's connection to the heart of the Tree of Life. The woman in EXO's songs is often thought to be a metaphor and physical representation of the Tree of Life. That is why the members are always trying to save the girl or protect her, or they talk about being controlled by the power of the woman or they are worried about their passion destroying her, etc. It's EXO's job to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force. EXO was sent to Earth on a mission to find the two halves of the tree and reunite them in order to restore peace in the world. The two halves of the tree -- EXO-K (Korean) represents one half and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) represents the other half -- were originally separated in order to keep the Red Force from gaining control. However, now, in order to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, EXO needs to defeat the Red Force and find where the two halves of the tree have been hidden. Therefore, the story in the "Monster" is all about EXO's origin story and about how they are trying to stop the Red Force from corrupting humanity, while also trying to find clues to where the Tree of Life is located. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. You see Kai slide backward and forward into the center of the group while waving his arms to represent him teleporting. And when Chanyeol jumps over Lay, Sehun and Xiumin, this could be him using his phoenix fire wings to fly, or it could be showing him leaping over flames because his power is the ability to control fire. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And when they sit on the ground with their one knee in the air and rotate their bodies, it's supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. (Even some of EXO's comebacks were released on days when we had a real eclipse or other planetary phenomenon, etc.) You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch their "Lotto" MV, just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto". How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force. "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out about EXO, so they are trying to keep a low profile. As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO -- EXO's alter ego clones -- and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.) You also see Lay, EXO's Chinese member, crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured. Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai, who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation, he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc. As you just saw in their "Obsession" MV, the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO, and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession" -- which is one of EXO's more recent releases -- we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time.
To really see the full story you actually have to also watch the EXO-M version of "Mama." The whole point of both the EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) versions of their songs and each MV is to introduce you to EXO's concept and storyline. If you only watch EXO-K, you only see half the story. "Mama" is like the first episode of EXO's drama -- it sets up everything to come in the rest of the series. And if you miss any part of the first episode you will forever be lost when it comes to the rest of EXO's story. If you watch both versions of their "Mama" MV, you might be able to understand a little more about EXO's mission and everything they have been sent to Earth to do. Because in the EXO-K version the whole story focuses on the K members, but in the M version it will show you the M members and explain their powers and each of their roles in the story. You only see small clips of the M members in the Korean version. But in the Chinese version the story continues, and the EXO-M members are the ones that are highlighted. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. SM Entertainment has all of EXO's release dates and concepts planned out for years in advance, and some of their MVs are even specifically released on days when we have had an eclipse or other planetary phenomenon. In Korean Mama is a term they use to address a leader or king or queen. It's a term of reverence and respect. It's similar to saying "Your majesty." If you watch very many historical Korean dramas you will hear the characters call the royal family, and especially the head of the royal family or leader, "Mama." So, in this song, they are speaking to the leader or deity who sent them to Earth, essentially asking, "Now that I'm here, Your Majesty what should I do? How do I fulfill what you have sent me to do?" etc. If you want to understand EXO's story, it's very important that you pay attention to the introduction story in "Mama" because it is literally setting up EXO's storyline. The narrator is telling you EXO's whole origin story, about how EXO have been split up into two groups EXO-K and EXO-M and they are part of the same group and yet separate -- part of two worlds that come together as one, etc. And he is telling you about how the Tree of Life has been split in half to protect it from falling into the Red Forces' control -- each half of the tree representing one half of EXO (EXO-K and EXO-M) -- and EXO's mission is to find the two halves of the tree and reunite them to restore peace in the world. In the EXO-K version of "Mama" the members are using their powers to search for and meet up with the EXO-M members. That is why you see the K members traveling to find the M members. For example, you see Kai using his power of teleportation as he searches for the M members. And, because Xiumin is a member of EXO-M, you see him appear in the mirror because the K members are searching for him and he is being summoned, etc. As the story goes, when EXO arrived on Earth, they did not all arrive together. Their story starts out that they were dropped on Earth in different locations all over the world -- which is explained more in their individual Pathcode teaser videos as part of their "Call Me Baby" comeback promotions -- and they have to search for each other and meet up, kind of like in a quest, before they can begin to figure out how to accomplish the tasks they have been sent to Earth to do. When you see the members all together in their "Mama" MVs they are together because they are still on Planet Exo where they are still united. But when you see them separated this is when they have all been sent to Earth. They keep flashing back and forth between present moments and recent past moments. So, how I interpret the story is that at the end they aren't back together yet, but that is a scene from when they were still on Planet Exo as they are preparing to be sent to Earth. The two worlds the narrator talks about in the introduction could possibly be different dimensions, so you often see parts of their story in their MVs and other content, which could be interpreted as them being in different dimensions or time periods or different moments in history. Each of the members in EXO-K has a counterpart in EXO-M, so part of what you were seeing in this MV was them showing you which EXO-K member corresponded with which EXO-M member. For example, Suho (EXO-K) with the power of water corresponds with Xiumin (EXO-M) who has the power of frost/ice. Chanyeol (EXO-K) with the power of fire is Kris' (EXO-M) counterpart because he has the power of flight, and as you will see when you watch the EXO-M MV, Chanyeol has the power of the phoenix and Kris has the power of the dragon, which both animal spirits have fire elements and flight so they connect. D.O. (EXO-K) with the power of force is connected to Chen (EXO-M) with the power of thunder/lightning. And Sehun (EXO-K), who has the power of wind, is connected to Tao (EXO-M) who controls time. Baekhyun (K) with the power of light is connected to Lay (M) with the power of healing; and Kai (K) with teleportation is linked to Luhan (M) with the power of telekinesis, etc. That's how they maintain their bond even as members of separate groups. Also, the symbols you saw represent each of the members and it has to do with each of their powers. For instance, Kai's symbol is a pyramid and it represents teleportation, and Lay's symbol is a unicorn and it represents his power of healing, etc. (In future MVs and other things to do with EXO, when you see things like a pyramid, you know that is a reference to something to do with Kai, etc.) Even the most minute of details in EXO's content has something to do with their origin story and EXO's storyline. During that screamo part, the "tattoos" on Kai's face and body say EXO and also all of the EXO members names, or at least the 6 EXO-K members names, as well as EXO's symbol and other hidden clues to EXO's origin story. (All of the words on Kai's face and body are in English, so, if you pause that section and really look, you will see there is a whole story even in his body paint, etc. ) And although it looks like Kai is the one that does the really high note at that moment, the voice you are hearing is actually Baekhyun. Each member in EXO-K also has a partner in EXO-M that fills the same role in their respective group. For example, Baekhyun is the main vocalist in EXO-K and Chen is the main vocalist in EXO-M; D.O. is the other main vocalist in K and Luhan was the other main vocalist in M; Chanyeol is the main rapper in K and Kris was the main rapper in M; Sehun is the lead rapper in K and Xiumin is the lead rapper in M; Kai is the main dancer in K and Lay is the main dancer in M; and then it's Suho is a lead vocalist in K and Tao was a rapper/vocalist in M, (I'm not sure how these two really work together because Tao is more of a rapper and Suho is a vocalist, but because they are the last two they are put together.) In order to understand the story even more, you should also look up the English translation of the lyrics. The majority of the gregorian chant is in English: "Shoot anonymous, anonymous; Heartless, mindless; No one who care about me ... Careless, careless (Mama: Mama in Korean means Your Majesty); Shoot anonymous, anonymous (Mama); Heartless, mindless (Mama); No one who care about me (Mama)." If you pay attention to what the whole song is about, it will give you even more insight into why EXO have been sent to Earth and what their mission is all about. EXO's storyline begins with them being sent to Earth to try and heal the world and to stop and prevent the Red Force from taking over and corrupting everything. And the story in the lyrics of "Mama" foreshadows what they will have to overcome and understand about humans and our world to accomplish their tasks. In this song EXO kind of takes humanity to task and asks us to explain why we would allow all this anger and hatred to cloud everything around us and why we don't love each other more? It's really a very beautiful message and the more you learn about EXO the more interesting the whole thing becomes. In the song the members, being aliens from another planet, are struggling to understand how we as humans could allow all these evil and bad things to happen all around us, such as war, hatred and the destruction of the environment, etc. and they are daunted by the fact that they are now tasked with figuring out how to fix it all and prevent more evil from taking place. That's why they need to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace. EXO's story is part supernatural and Sci-fi and part based on reality, which touches on real life events and things that are really happening in the world. And from the very beginning, even during pre-debut days, and everything since then and everything yet to come, it all is connected to that storyline. Everything EXO does and everything you see from them, including Baekhyun's and Kai's parts in SM Entertainment's supergroup SuperM, all has something to do with the concept and story that began with "Mama," and each new installment of something from the members expands a little further on EXO's story. It's all been designed to connect to EXO's storyline.

As with most of EXO's songs and MVs -- such as "Love Shot" -- the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes, the story in the MV is loosely based on the lyrics of the song, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story. There are 8 members in "Love Shot." Lay, their Chinese member, was not able to participate in this MV. Part of EXO's mission is that they are constantly fighting against and battling the Red Force for control. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda and corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. While on their quest to locate and protect the Tree of Life, EXO is also tasked with trying to fix everything the Red Force has caused. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story. In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why EXO first ended up at the gas/service station or the cinema/movie theater, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. For example, supposedly, most fans agree that Xiumin may have been captured by the Red Force -- or maybe it's his X-EXO clone. If you notice, Xiumin is squaring off with a group of guys with guns, but a few seconds later we see someone with a mask and when the mask is removed you see that it's Xiumin, which seems to show that he may not be who we think he is. And when Chen is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is Suho, as the leader, probably trying to protect the members and prevent Chen from watching the film by covering his eyes. Whatever is being played on the movie screen is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO. (Which is now thought to also be connected to the fact that we see Chen and Xiumin in the theater in EXO's new "Let Me In" MV.) You also will see references to the movie screen with Chen being projected on the screen in their "Lucky One" MV and the scene where Suho is running through the forest in their "For Life" MV, etc. These instances seem to be showing times when the Red Force are using the videos to brainwash EXO and to keep them incapacitated so they don't try to fight back or escape, etc. In "Love Shot," one theory is that the members are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc., which I see as a sort of continuation of the story in their "Tempo" MV. This is why you see them being very suspicious pointing their guns -- which are filled with alcohol -- at each other. (Get it? The song is called "Love Shot" so it has a double meaning: Love Shot like a gun and Love Shot like a shot of alcohol. :D) Yet again, we see a clear glass cube with a red liquid inside, which seems to be part of a theme that connects with most of EXO's other MVs. The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline. There has been a flower theme that continues throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought to be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. They often collect the flowers and then burn them, like you see in "Love Shot" and you will see in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV. Blue roses also have some sort of significance, but I am not sure what yet -- we see EXO with a blue rose in their concert performances of "Lightsaber" and we see Sehun with a blue rose in "Love Shot." Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and other parts will hopefully be explained as the story continues in future MVs. Money is the root of all evil, and people's obsession with material goods and wealth could be one of the ways the Red Force is using to control humanity. Which is why you see EXO trying to take down the gambling ring in their "Monster" and "Lotto" MVs and why they talk about money in EXO-CBX's Japanese song "Ka-Ching," etc. They also burn the giant stack of money in "Monster"/"Lotto." It's not an isolated incident, so it's obviously a significant thing within EXO's storyline. We also see that everything in the MV was taking place during an eclipse. The eclipse is what controls EXO's powers and it's where they get their power and strength from. So, that is why you see in most of their MVs that they focus on the moon or show an eclipse taking place, etc. However, you should make note that it's not a regular eclipse. We see two moons covering the sun. Which, if you remember in the introduction narration in the beginning of "Mama," they point out how EXO comes from a "planet" with two suns. Each sun is part of a parallel universe that is alike and yet different. Therefore, this could be an indication that they aren't on Earth in this MV, or they may be trapped within another dimension. And if they are still trapped within the Red Force's maze, the Red Force could have them in a dream-like state and some of what we see happening could be happening within their minds. Baekhyun is actually one of the main characters in EXO's storyline, so he is often set apart or singled out in EXO's MVs. He is often the one that stands alone or is highlighted in the story. For example, in their "Power" MV Baekhyun has been singled out and is sort of separated from the other members, which seems to suggest maybe Baekhyun is the only member that hasn't been corrupted by the Red Force. So that is thought to be why in "Tempo" and in "Love Shot" we see Baekhyun standing on top of the building looking down on the rest of the members, almost as if he is observing them from another dimension or from another time period. Baekhyun is often the one who is going behind the sense to help EXO. For example, we see him disguised as a member of the police as he rescues the other members from the back of the police van in "Monster," and we see Baekhyun facing off with and confronting Xiumin in "Love Shot." :D We also see scenes in "Love Shot" where the members are sometimes dressed in all black leather and other scenes where we see them dressed in red and black leather, which look very similar to the outfits they were wearing in "Monster," especially when they are in the back of the police van. And now that we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO, EXO's evil clones, as part of EXO's "Obsession's" MV story, I am also starting to think that maybe in "Love Shot" we aren't just seeing EXO. I think maybe when we see the members dressed in bright colors -- for example, when they are in their suits -- this might be X-EXO and when we see the scenes where they are in black, this could be EXO. Because in "Obsession" we find out that the members in all black are EXO the good guys, and when we see them in the colorful outfits with the crazy hair and makeup that is X-EXO. This could also explain why Kai is dressed in a red suit. Although I am sure their stylists put him in red because he looks really good in it, I think SM chose it because it's another hidden message within the storyline. Usually, whenever we see red in EXO's MVs this has something to do with the Red Force, so for a long time I have been wondering why then would they put Kai in a red suit? However, now that we know about the X-EXO members, I am starting to think that when we see the members in their colorful suits and clothing in "Love Shot" this is actually the X-EXO members, so when we see Kai in red this is his alter ego clone, as well as the other members when we see them in suits, etc. I also think maybe the members who are collecting all the flowers in "Love Shot" are really X-EXO, as part of some evil plot, etc. If you look at the members' expressions and the outfits they are wearing in the scenes where you see them collecting the flowers, this reminds me a lot of what they looked like in their "Ko Ko Bop" MV. Since "Obsession," theories now think that what the "Ko Ko Bop" MV was showing us was X-EXO right after they were created as they are becoming acclimated to the world and learning how to use their powers, etc. Which would explain why everything in the "Ko Ko Bop" MV is so brightly colored as well. But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom, which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline, but nothing is set in stone. Fan theories are constantly evolving and changing with every introduction of a new piece of the puzzle.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members is playing 2 different characters.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. Now you also need to know that in the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group -- short answer to focus on their solo work back in China -- but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin, they just now promote all as one group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop, and it has made us question everything we previously have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. One of the things (among thousand others) I love about EXO and that sets them apart from any other group is that their discography has matured with them. Now that they are grown up men and most of their fans have grown up with them they have turned on the sensuality (with much finesse I must say) and maturity in their lyrics and videos to match their grown up audience. I think beside their super crazy talents and hard work, this is one thing that keeps them relevant and still loved by many even after more than 12 years in the industry. Love your enthusiasm. There’s too much going on in these mvs to cover everything. Just a few points: they are aliens, and in their universe, flowers are used instead of money. Thus robbing the flowers from the bank. You will see flowers in many of their songs. Don’t forget each member has a super power, which you will see used in each mv.: Suho’s is water, Xiumin is frost, Chen is thunder/lightning, DO is strength, Chanyeol is fire, Sehun is wind, Baekyun is light, Lay is healing, Kai is teleporting. Red usually signifies the evil Red Force, that is trying to take the good EXOs down. You’ll see lots of red. They are possibly the red force or are EXO who are slowly being assimilated with the red force. EXO will be captured, imprisoned, drugged, and more by the Red Force. PLEASEEE check out some of their other title tracks. Out of the many years i have listened to kpop and the many groups that i love, nobody does it like EXO. some of my personal favorite title tracks are Love Me Right, Overdose, Universe (one of their winter albums), Call Me Baby, etc... they do so many genres and I find myself liking stuff that I normally wouldn't if it were someone else. EXO is so talented. I also recommend checking out some of the member's solo work as well. Out of EXO soloists, my favorite would be Baekhyun because RnB is my favorite genre of music (Bambi is one of my all time favorite songs to come out of the Korean music industry) ALSO, they have a ton of live performances and performances from their concerts on youtube if you wanted to check those out. The intro at the beginning of Mama is a fancy way to describe the early units, in the beginning 12 Exo members are split into two groups of 6 Exo-K (Korean unit) and Exo-M (Chinese, Mandarin speaking unit). That's it, that's what the lengthy intro was explaining, well that and one day they may be reunited and red force = Bad. But yeah as you can see in the Mama mv and some future mvs like Power, Lucky One and Ko Ko Bop each Exo member has a super power. EXO was the very first K-Pop group to debut with a concept and back story. They had 2 pre-debut tracks, WHAT IS LOVE and HISTORY, which introduced the 12 members who were divided into sub-units EXO-K (promoted in Korea) and EXO-M (promoted in China). MAMA was their debut track. In their lore, EXO are aliens from EXO Planet (a planet outside the solar system) who came to earth to protect us from their enemy, the evil Red Force. Each member possesses/controls a superpower as shown in the MAMA MV. In terms of top-tier vocals, harmonies, dance , stage presence and discography, this group is the real deal! They churn out banger, after banger, after banger. Their b-side is a huge goldmine. Best of all, these guys have remained humble and grounded in their 11 years in the industry and absolutely love EXO-L (name of their fandom). Okay the guy in red suit in love shot is the guy with tattoos in MAMA MV, he is KAI known as Dancing machine Aka Human Gucci (cause he's the global brand ambassador of Gucci) Aka IDOL OF IDOLS cause many kpop artists and international artists wanna be like KAI. And did you know, all the members of Exo can not only sing but can also low key rap. The main rapper Chanyeol has smooth vocals, he's a DJ and can play multiple musical instruments. All members are actors and musical actors, song writers, models too. One member Lay even has his own entertainment company based in China and he's called the king of China.

During Mama rock portion, you asked who was that guy with the markings on his face. That's Kai, EXO's center singer and dancer. But he wasn't on the Killing Voice because he's in the military now. He was able to sing on Cream Soda song but he wasn't in the music video. He's the guy in the red suit in Love Shot and has the Abs in Obsession. BTW, the Mama song is actually a protest song. In order to understand the story in EXO's "Monster" MV, as well as all of EXO's content, you have to know that it's all connected, and every new piece that's introduced explains a little more of EXO's story. Each MV is like another chapter in SM Entertainment's SM Culture Universe storyline and it's all part of a larger story that also includes the majority of SM's other groups' and artists' storylines. It's like a giant graphic novel or mystery movie series.
Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything -- including all of their MVs, the majority of their sub-sub-unit MVs and members' solo MVs, teaser videos, concert stages, concert VCRs (videos played in between sets at concerts) and choreography, as well as special content included with their albums, etc. -- is designed to help tell a little more of EXO's story.
EXO debuted back in 2012, and from the very beginning their concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have come to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. And as otherworldly beings, each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them. "Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV.
As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo."
Therefore, the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also was supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is also red, which means that it most likely represents something to do with the Red Force.
However, if you look up the English translation of the lyrics, you will see in the song, the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. Which could be a metaphor for EXO's connection to the heart of the Tree of Life.
The woman in EXO's songs is often thought to be a metaphor and physical representation of the Tree of Life. That is why the members are always trying to save the girl or protect her, or they talk about being controlled by the power of the woman or they are worried about their passion destroying her, etc. It's EXO's job to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force. EXO was sent to Earth on a mission to find the two halves of the tree and reunite them in order to restore peace in the world. The two halves of the tree -- EXO-K (Korean) represents one half and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) represents the other half -- were originally separated in order to keep the Red Force from gaining control. However, now, in order to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, EXO needs to defeat the Red Force and find where the two halves of the tree have been hidden.
Therefore, the story in the "Monster" is all about EXO's origin story and about how they are trying to stop the Red Force from corrupting humanity, while also trying to find clues to where the Tree of Life is located.
Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography.
For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. You see Kai slide backward and forward into the center of the group while waving his arms to represent him teleporting. And when Chanyeol jumps over Lay, Sehun and Xiumin, this could be him using his phoenix fire wings to fly, or it could be showing him leaping over flames because his power is the ability to control fire. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And when they sit on the ground with their one knee in the air and rotate their bodies, it's supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. (Even some of EXO's comebacks were released on days when we had a real eclipse or other planetary phenomenon, etc.)
You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch their "Lotto" MV, just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto".
How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force.
"Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out about EXO, so they are trying to keep a low profile.
As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO -- EXO's alter ego clones -- and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.)
You also see Lay, EXO's Chinese member, crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured.
Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai, who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation, he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc.
As you just saw in their "Obsession" MV, the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO, and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession" -- which is one of EXO's more recent releases -- we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time.

To really see the full story you actually have to also watch the EXO-M version of "Mama." The whole point of both the EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) versions of their songs and each MV is to introduce you to EXO's concept and storyline. If you only watch EXO-K, you only see half the story. "Mama" is like the first episode of EXO's drama -- it sets up everything to come in the rest of the series. And if you miss any part of the first episode you will forever be lost when it comes to the rest of EXO's story.
If you watch both versions of their "Mama" MV, you might be able to understand a little more about EXO's mission and everything they have been sent to Earth to do. Because in the EXO-K version the whole story focuses on the K members, but in the M version it will show you the M members and explain their powers and each of their roles in the story. You only see small clips of the M members in the Korean version. But in the Chinese version the story continues, and the EXO-M members are the ones that are highlighted.
Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. SM Entertainment has all of EXO's release dates and concepts planned out for years in advance, and some of their MVs are even specifically released on days when we have had an eclipse or other planetary phenomenon.
In Korean Mama is a term they use to address a leader or king or queen. It's a term of reverence and respect. It's similar to saying "Your majesty." If you watch very many historical Korean dramas you will hear the characters call the royal family, and especially the head of the royal family or leader, "Mama." So, in this song, they are speaking to the leader or deity who sent them to Earth, essentially asking, "Now that I'm here, Your Majesty what should I do? How do I fulfill what you have sent me to do?" etc.
If you want to understand EXO's story, it's very important that you pay attention to the introduction story in "Mama" because it is literally setting up EXO's storyline. The narrator is telling you EXO's whole origin story, about how EXO have been split up into two groups EXO-K and EXO-M and they are part of the same group and yet separate -- part of two worlds that come together as one, etc. And he is telling you about how the Tree of Life has been split in half to protect it from falling into the Red Forces' control -- each half of the tree representing one half of EXO (EXO-K and EXO-M) -- and EXO's mission is to find the two halves of the tree and reunite them to restore peace in the world.
In the EXO-K version of "Mama" the members are using their powers to search for and meet up with the EXO-M members. That is why you see the K members traveling to find the M members. For example, you see Kai using his power of teleportation as he searches for the M members. And, because Xiumin is a member of EXO-M, you see him appear in the mirror because the K members are searching for him and he is being summoned, etc. As the story goes, when EXO arrived on Earth, they did not all arrive together. Their story starts out that they were dropped on Earth in different locations all over the world -- which is explained more in their individual Pathcode teaser videos as part of their "Call Me Baby" comeback promotions -- and they have to search for each other and meet up, kind of like in a quest, before they can begin to figure out how to accomplish the tasks they have been sent to Earth to do.
When you see the members all together in their "Mama" MVs they are together because they are still on Planet Exo where they are still united. But when you see them separated this is when they have all been sent to Earth. They keep flashing back and forth between present moments and recent past moments. So, how I interpret the story is that at the end they aren't back together yet, but that is a scene from when they were still on Planet Exo as they are preparing to be sent to Earth.
The two worlds the narrator talks about in the introduction could possibly be different dimensions, so you often see parts of their story in their MVs and other content, which could be interpreted as them being in different dimensions or time periods or different moments in history.
Each of the members in EXO-K has a counterpart in EXO-M, so part of what you were seeing in this MV was them showing you which EXO-K member corresponded with which EXO-M member. For example, Suho (EXO-K) with the power of water corresponds with Xiumin (EXO-M) who has the power of frost/ice. Chanyeol (EXO-K) with the power of fire is Kris' (EXO-M) counterpart because he has the power of flight, and as you will see when you watch the EXO-M MV, Chanyeol has the power of the phoenix and Kris has the power of the dragon, which both animal spirits have fire elements and flight so they connect. D.O. (EXO-K) with the power of force is connected to Chen (EXO-M) with the power of thunder/lightning. And Sehun (EXO-K), who has the power of wind, is connected to Tao (EXO-M) who controls time. Baekhyun (K) with the power of light is connected to Lay (M) with the power of healing; and Kai (K) with teleportation is linked to Luhan (M) with the power of telekinesis, etc. That's how they maintain their bond even as members of separate groups.
Also, the symbols you saw represent each of the members and it has to do with each of their powers. For instance, Kai's symbol is a pyramid and it represents teleportation, and Lay's symbol is a unicorn and it represents his power of healing, etc. (In future MVs and other things to do with EXO, when you see things like a pyramid, you know that is a reference to something to do with Kai, etc.) Even the most minute of details in EXO's content has something to do with their origin story and EXO's storyline.
During that screamo part, the "tattoos" on Kai's face and body say EXO and also all of the EXO members names, or at least the 6 EXO-K members names, as well as EXO's symbol and other hidden clues to EXO's origin story. (All of the words on Kai's face and body are in English, so, if you pause that section and really look, you will see there is a whole story even in his body paint, etc. ) And although it looks like Kai is the one that does the really high note at that moment, the voice you are hearing is actually Baekhyun.
Each member in EXO-K also has a partner in EXO-M that fills the same role in their respective group. For example, Baekhyun is the main vocalist in EXO-K and Chen is the main vocalist in EXO-M; D.O. is the other main vocalist in K and Luhan was the other main vocalist in M; Chanyeol is the main rapper in K and Kris was the main rapper in M; Sehun is the lead rapper in K and Xiumin is the lead rapper in M; Kai is the main dancer in K and Lay is the main dancer in M; and then it's Suho is a lead vocalist in K and Tao was a rapper/vocalist in M, (I'm not sure how these two really work together because Tao is more of a rapper and Suho is a vocalist, but because they are the last two they are put together.)
In order to understand the story even more, you should also look up the English translation of the lyrics. The majority of the gregorian chant is in English: "Shoot anonymous, anonymous; Heartless, mindless; No one who care about me ... Careless, careless (Mama: Mama in Korean means Your Majesty); Shoot anonymous, anonymous (Mama); Heartless, mindless (Mama); No one who care about me (Mama)." If you pay attention to what the whole song is about, it will give you even more insight into why EXO have been sent to Earth and what their mission is all about.
EXO's storyline begins with them being sent to Earth to try and heal the world and to stop and prevent the Red Force from taking over and corrupting everything. And the story in the lyrics of "Mama" foreshadows what they will have to overcome and understand about humans and our world to accomplish their tasks. In this song EXO kind of takes humanity to task and asks us to explain why we would allow all this anger and hatred to cloud everything around us and why we don't love each other more? It's really a very beautiful message and the more you learn about EXO the more interesting the whole thing becomes.
In the song the members, being aliens from another planet, are struggling to understand how we as humans could allow all these evil and bad things to happen all around us, such as war, hatred and the destruction of the environment, etc. and they are daunted by the fact that they are now tasked with figuring out how to fix it all and prevent more evil from taking place. That's why they need to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace.
EXO's story is part supernatural and Sci-fi and part based on reality, which touches on real life events and things that are really happening in the world. And from the very beginning, even during pre-debut days, and everything since then and everything yet to come, it all is connected to that storyline.
Everything EXO does and everything you see from them, including Baekhyun's and Kai's parts in SM Entertainment's supergroup SuperM, all has something to do with the concept and story that began with "Mama," and each new installment of something from the members expands a little further on EXO's story. It's all been designed to connect to EXO's storyline.

As with most of EXO's songs and MVs -- such as "Love Shot" -- the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes, the story in the MV is loosely based on the lyrics of the song, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story.
There are 8 members in "Love Shot." Lay, their Chinese member, was not able to participate in this MV.
Part of EXO's mission is that they are constantly fighting against and battling the Red Force for control. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda and corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. While on their quest to locate and protect the Tree of Life, EXO is also tasked with trying to fix everything the Red Force has caused. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story.
In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why EXO first ended up at the gas/service station or the cinema/movie theater, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. For example, supposedly, most fans agree that Xiumin may have been captured by the Red Force -- or maybe it's his X-EXO clone. If you notice, Xiumin is squaring off with a group of guys with guns, but a few seconds later we see someone with a mask and when the mask is removed you see that it's Xiumin, which seems to show that he may not be who we think he is.
And when Chen is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is Suho, as the leader, probably trying to protect the members and prevent Chen from watching the film by covering his eyes. Whatever is being played on the movie screen is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO. (Which is now thought to also be connected to the fact that we see Chen and Xiumin in the theater in EXO's new "Let Me In" MV.)
You also will see references to the movie screen with Chen being projected on the screen in their "Lucky One" MV and the scene where Suho is running through the forest in their "For Life" MV, etc. These instances seem to be showing times when the Red Force are using the videos to brainwash EXO and to keep them incapacitated so they don't try to fight back or escape, etc.
In "Love Shot," one theory is that the members are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc., which I see as a sort of continuation of the story in their "Tempo" MV. This is why you see them being very suspicious pointing their guns -- which are filled with alcohol -- at each other. (Get it? The song is called "Love Shot" so it has a double meaning: Love Shot like a gun and Love Shot like a shot of alcohol. :D)
Yet again, we see a clear glass cube with a red liquid inside, which seems to be part of a theme that connects with most of EXO's other MVs.
The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline. There has been a flower theme that continues throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought to be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. They often collect the flowers and then burn them, like you see in "Love Shot" and you will see in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV. Blue roses also have some sort of significance, but I am not sure what yet -- we see EXO with a blue rose in their concert performances of "Lightsaber" and we see Sehun with a blue rose in "Love Shot." Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and other parts will hopefully be explained as the story continues in future MVs.
Money is the root of all evil, and people's obsession with material goods and wealth could be one of the ways the Red Force is using to control humanity. Which is why you see EXO trying to take down the gambling ring in their "Monster" and "Lotto" MVs and why they talk about money in EXO-CBX's Japanese song "Ka-Ching," etc. They also burn the giant stack of money in "Monster"/"Lotto." It's not an isolated incident, so it's obviously a significant thing within EXO's storyline.
We also see that everything in the MV was taking place during an eclipse. The eclipse is what controls EXO's powers and it's where they get their power and strength from. So, that is why you see in most of their MVs that they focus on the moon or show an eclipse taking place, etc. However, you should make note that it's not a regular eclipse. We see two moons covering the sun. Which, if you remember in the introduction narration in the beginning of "Mama," they point out how EXO comes from a "planet" with two suns. Each sun is part of a parallel universe that is alike and yet different. Therefore, this could be an indication that they aren't on Earth in this MV, or they may be trapped within another dimension. And if they are still trapped within the Red Force's maze, the Red Force could have them in a dream-like state and some of what we see happening could be happening within their minds.
Baekhyun is actually one of the main characters in EXO's storyline, so he is often set apart or singled out in EXO's MVs. He is often the one that stands alone or is highlighted in the story. For example, in their "Power" MV Baekhyun has been singled out and is sort of separated from the other members, which seems to suggest maybe Baekhyun is the only member that hasn't been corrupted by the Red Force. So that is thought to be why in "Tempo" and in "Love Shot" we see Baekhyun standing on top of the building looking down on the rest of the members, almost as if he is observing them from another dimension or from another time period. Baekhyun is often the one who is going behind the sense to help EXO. For example, we see him disguised as a member of the police as he rescues the other members from the back of the police van in "Monster," and we see Baekhyun facing off with and confronting Xiumin in "Love Shot." :D
We also see scenes in "Love Shot" where the members are sometimes dressed in all black leather and other scenes where we see them dressed in red and black leather, which look very similar to the outfits they were wearing in "Monster," especially when they are in the back of the police van.
And now that we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO, EXO's evil clones, as part of EXO's "Obsession's" MV story, I am also starting to think that maybe in "Love Shot" we aren't just seeing EXO. I think maybe when we see the members dressed in bright colors -- for example, when they are in their suits -- this might be X-EXO and when we see the scenes where they are in black, this could be EXO. Because in "Obsession" we find out that the members in all black are EXO the good guys, and when we see them in the colorful outfits with the crazy hair and makeup that is X-EXO.
This could also explain why Kai is dressed in a red suit. Although I am sure their stylists put him in red because he looks really good in it, I think SM chose it because it's another hidden message within the storyline. Usually, whenever we see red in EXO's MVs this has something to do with the Red Force, so for a long time I have been wondering why then would they put Kai in a red suit? However, now that we know about the X-EXO members, I am starting to think that when we see the members in their colorful suits and clothing in "Love Shot" this is actually the X-EXO members, so when we see Kai in red this is his alter ego clone, as well as the other members when we see them in suits, etc.
I also think maybe the members who are collecting all the flowers in "Love Shot" are really X-EXO, as part of some evil plot, etc. If you look at the members' expressions and the outfits they are wearing in the scenes where you see them collecting the flowers, this reminds me a lot of what they looked like in their "Ko Ko Bop" MV.
Since "Obsession," theories now think that what the "Ko Ko Bop" MV was showing us was X-EXO right after they were created as they are becoming acclimated to the world and learning how to use their powers, etc. Which would explain why everything in the "Ko Ko Bop" MV is so brightly colored as well.
But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom, which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline, but nothing is set in stone. Fan theories are constantly evolving and changing with every introduction of a new piece of the puzzle.
Yes, MAMA is their debut song and if you pay attention to the story in the beginning, exo are actually aliens from exo planet who came to earth after an evil red force destroyed their planet. So all 9 members have superpowers such as fire, strength, water, frost, thunder, wind, healing, light and teleportation. And this storyline goes through all their music videos including solo songs. So it's also like watching a series, however, the events of the story are not shown in sequence. So you have to investigate to know what's happening. Events, fights in Obsession,monster all are connected.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members is playing 2 different characters.)
X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc.
Now you also need to know that in the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers.
However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group -- short answer to focus on their solo work back in China -- but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin, they just now promote all as one group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group.
So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop, and it has made us question everything we previously have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline.
The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc.
Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time.
With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV.
Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs.
Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force.
Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.)

Welcome to EXO world. Be ready to get addicted. One of the things (among thousand others) I love about EXO and that sets them apart from any other group is that their discography has matured with them. Now that they are grown up men and most of their fans have grown up with them they have turned on the sensuality (with much finesse I must say) and maturity in their lyrics and videos to match their grown up audience. I think beside their super crazy talents and hard work, this is one thing that keeps them relevant and still loved by many even after more than 12 years in the industry. Love shot is iconic for its dance and Kai’s red suit. It is one of the most covered EXO songs.

Don’t forget each member has a super power, which you will see used in each mv.: Suho’s is water, Xiumin is frost, Chen is thunder/lightning, DO is strength, Chanyeol is fire, Sehun is wind, Baekyun is light, Lay is healing, Kai is teleporting.
Red usually signifies the evil Red Force, that is trying to take the good EXOs down. You’ll see lots of red. They are possibly the red force or are EXO who are slowly being assimilated with the red force.

Out of the many years i have listened to kpop and the many groups that i love, nobody does it like EXO. some of my personal favorite title tracks are Love Me Right, Overdose, Universe (one of their winter albums), Call Me Baby, etc... they do so many genres and I find myself liking stuff that I normally wouldn't if it were someone else. EXO is so talented. I also recommend checking out some of the member's solo work as well. Out of EXO soloists, my favorite would be Baekhyun because RnB is my favorite genre of music (Bambi is one of my all time favorite songs to come out of the Korean music industry)
ALSO, they have a ton of live performances and performances from their concerts on youtube if you wanted to check those out. (no pressure tho i understand if you don't because they have so much content that it is seriously overwhelming and there are not enough hours in the day lol)

Their predebut and debut song (History, What is Love and Mama) needs to be watch with both Exo-K and Exo-M version cause both sides tells complete story of their concept. Even in mama mv its explained "the transforces divide into two (Exo-K and Exo-M), both can't live without the other"

The intro at the beginning of Mama is a fancy way to describe the early units, in the beginning 12 Exo members are split into two groups of 6 Exo-K (Korean unit) and Exo-M (Chinese, Mandarin speaking unit). That's it, that's what the lengthy intro was explaining, well that and one day they may be reunited and red force = Bad. But yeah as you can see in the Mama mv and some future mvs like Power, Lucky One and Ko Ko Bop each Exo member has a super power. EXO was the very first K-Pop group to debut with a concept and back story. They had 2 pre-debut tracks, WHAT IS LOVE and HISTORY, which introduced the 12 members who were divided into sub-units EXO-K (promoted in Korea) and EXO-M (promoted in China). MAMA was their debut track.
In their lore, EXO are aliens from EXO Planet (a planet outside the solar system) who came to earth to protect us from their enemy, the evil Red Force. Each member possesses/controls a superpower as shown in the MAMA MV.
In terms of top-tier vocals, harmonies, dance , stage presence and discography, this group is the real deal! They churn out banger, after banger, after banger. Their b-side is a huge goldmine. Best of all, these guys have remained humble and grounded in their 11 years in the industry and absolutely love EXO-L (name of their fandom).
No one in K-Pop is like them or will there ever be a group like them.

You don't have to deep dive in their concept and storyline, you just need to know the basic concept or storyline.
Okay the guy in red suit in love shot is the guy with tattoos in MAMA MV, he is KAI known as Dancing machine Aka Human Gucci (cause he's the global brand ambassador of Gucci) Aka IDOL OF IDOLS cause many kpop artists and international artists wanna be like KAI.
And did you know, all the members of Exo can not only sing but can also low key rap. The main rapper Chanyeol has smooth vocals, he's a DJ and can play multiple musical instruments. All members are actors and musical actors, song writers, models too. One member Lay even has his own entertainment company based in China and he's called the king of China.
