O' dear how embarrassing for the USA that South Korean auto is showing them the way and move over Land Rover your target customers heads will be turned by Kia and Hyundai's very smart 4 x 4.
@colinrobinson7869 American vehicles definitely won't get all that attention if the auto show was held in Seoul! "America First" yells the President-elect!
Too bad Kia and Hyundai don't come anywhere near competing with Tesla in sales. You know... the only metric that actually matters to an auto manufacturer. lol
Agreed. The chair becomes a table, the cushions become a plastic camping chair, which although naff would be wonderful if you had a Mountain View and some music. Right…
It's hilarious watching old Top Gear episodes where the Ferraris and Aston Martins have the same kind of 0-60 times as a new mummy-pants SUV. Oh the days when Kia and Hyundai were a punchline! [edit:] Oh, and Ford, Dodge have done what you should have done all along. That's what an electric Mustang should look like. Not a blobby SUV thing. Thank you, Dodge.
Well done to Kia for the WKender, brave and bold is what we need. Hope this makes it to the market. A small micro car that fits inside would be amazing
Hyundai, Kia are knocking it out the park. I bought a Hyundai Ioniq 5 Namsan instead of my usual BMW or Audi this year and I love it. I got everything on this car and for far less money than either of the other two.
I find it weird to think of a modular van that you have to change the whole back of it, when you could just change what you put insider 😅 Thanks for the vid!
Cyber cab for when you want to leave two of your friends waiting on the next Cab….Tesla I think get carried away without actually thinking things through. Love that huge Camper-van that Judge Dread would drive or for that plumber who absolutely needs to look as cool as …. 😁 oh that Challenger ……….. building and they will come. 😮
How was the steering weight (and feel) on the Ioniq 9? I am very interested in that vehicle, but don't want feather-light steering like we have in our Pacifica Hybrid minivan, which makes it difficult to steer accurately on tighter roads.
Loved the Hyundai Van concept. Brilliant idea of being modular for the storage solutions. As long as you buy into both sets, one for the car and one for the garage?
What Hyundai Group is doing with its brads KIA, Genesis, and Hyundai is just amazing, for me, they are already a manufacturer of the year :). The KIA Weekender is just gorgeous, KIA please make it ;D Actually really like the Tesla Cybercab but they should put it in production with a steering wheel and make a two-seater EV pickup like the Chevrolet El Camino was ;) Electrifying team another great video, we need to get you to China on some Chinese Auto Show so you can show us what is happening there in the EV world ;)
Okay am I the only one who thinks that the EV9 looks like a supermodel compared to the Ioniq 9, that looks more like the girl nobody wanted to date in highschool 😅
I don't know any EV available in the UK that is 3 tonnes. You're getting confused with Range Rovers and and other large LR products, which do come close to 3T Our Ioniq 5 is just a shade over 2T, which isn't much heavier than a SUV of similar dimensions.
The Ford Fiesta was the best selling cat in the UK for 12 years in a row. How did we go from not even a family sized hatchback being the most widely owned vehicle to now needing 9 seater behemoths? Car companies bemoan noone wants to buy their cars, perhaps people just don't want to buy massive SUVs? I love electrifying though, great show
9 seaters aren't new. Just not really sold in Europe I get your point on size but cars of this size are globally a very important sector for car manufacturers.
The reason we bought an Ioniq 5, is we didn't want another SUV, which the Ioniq 5 isn't. It's basically a giant hatchback, so it has lots of space inside.
I wish Genesis would do a G70 ev as I just don't want an SUV. I know UK roads suck ass now so I should probably just get an SUV but I'd rather the government fix the roads so I can drive what I want without worrying about the road breaking it.
I sure hope you can turn OFF those fake gear shiftings and fake engine noises in the EV9. One of the big benefits of electric is SMOOTH acceleration and quiet ride.
The Tesla Cybercab should be styled to look like a unicorn. It probably has the magical ability to disappear when you want to order one just like the roadster (that was originally unveiled as a concept in 2017). I think there's something odd about massively powerful heavy SUVs, they may accelerate fast but can they stop like a supercar too?
Thanks for the analysis! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Will someone PLEASE consider wheelchair users??? Something like the PV model could easily be adapted. Currently, it is really difficult to find an EV that works for wheelchair users, and nobody EVER asks the question :-( I've got an Ioniq 5 and a Jeep Wrangler. As a wheelchair user, my Wrangler is sooooooo much easier to use (I've got a hoist and lots of space in the Jeep).
I don't think you buy a car that's wheelchair ready. I don't think that's how that industry works. I'm pretty sure people/companies buy cars that can be fitted with wheelchair features and then add those features as aftermarket.
Fake engine noise, fake gear change?! What’s next, fake exhaust smoke? I like my EV for how smooth it drives, how quiet it is, how effortless it is to dive and the lower cost of ownership.
well at least the koreans have solved the overcrowding of roads in the UK by making cars where there is only space for 4 of their huuuuge ocean going liners
Thank you for covering the show. The real story for me was the Tesla driverless taxi. What was astonishing was its suggested price at £23-25k. At that price if you live in a congested city why would you own a car at all and not just call one of these as needed? EVs in the city for an apartment owner are difficult because it may be hard to charge at home or have secure parking. When you do need to drive from Lands Ends to John O’Groats you can always hire something without the permanent cost of owning it. Maybe Tesla are on to something.
The driverless taxi be unlikely to get UK or European approval. Would you trust an autonomous vehicle to deal with the pathetic driving standards on the road these days, because I wouldn't.
@@johnnodge4327 There are some driverless tests being conducted in the UK, but I take the point that there is some way to go before approval. However if it can be made to work it looks very cost effective and fares should be very low, so worth a bit of persistence.
Most of the EV’s are ok, but they are all to big for the uk roads & parking spaces. Plus most will be over £40,000 will out of the original/ working person. Also where are the car for the single person.
Two brands because the US has put up artificial trade barriers to restrict consumer choice for affordable, quality EVs. I feel sorry for Americans - paying higher prices or fundamentally lower value products!
Compared to what we are seeing at the Shanghai Motor shows LA/Detroit motor shows feel like side shows. Like the travelling circus that brought only part of the team along because of budgetary constraints. What's sad, and telling, is that Electrifying completely ignored Shanghai but rushed to the smaller, increasingly less relevant, US show.
Because some people have 2 kids and dogs? Because some people have more than 3 kids? Because some people may need to transport not only their household but also elderly parents or children's friends? Because that's what people buy so it's what manufacturers produce. Their are plenty of smaller EVs as well. I'd like to see more hatchbacks and estates but it doesn't help to be unrealistic with ones expectations
It's an American motor show, where they like big cars. The UK is different, yet buyers still favour SUVs over hatchbacks. Unfortunately manufacturers have to make cars that will sell, not cars that will sit in a field unsold.
SMMT figures for October in the UK show this comment to be untrue. YoY from Oct 23 to Oct 24 show diesel sales down 20%, petrol down 14% but BEV sales up 34%.
Why why why can we not have more cars that look like the Dodge Charger. I mean if Ford had made the Capri that looked similar it would have single handedly boosted the EV market instead of supplying naysayers with more spite and spittle .... and then taking a similar approach with the smaller MK 1 / 2 Escort would have lit their market share into orbit. All there seems to be are too many cars designed on a computer screen with busy bits on them just for the sake of it that will age really badly and will just fall off. I drive a Jaguar I Pace that admittedly has the range of an 80's Corgi Radio Control Rally Car ( Actual Comparison .... Capri and Metro ) and charges slower than a one legged sloth but at least it attempts to achieve clean lines with that of a coupe. I also think that the SUV EV is in itself at odds because of just how heavy they have to be and at 3 tonnes will rip up drives and age roads really badly. ..... My apologies for my rant but really folks .... face palm.
Hyundai and Kia are doing a great job
This should have been titled the South Korean Auto Show!

That adventure pv looks so much nicer than the cybertruck 🤪😊👍
Why are you comparing a van to a truck?
What doesn't look better😂
That's a low bar, but you're not wrong.
A taxi with two seats... One for Donny and one for Musk, so they can hold hands in the car and become best friends
Some really impressive progress. Hyundai/Kia seem to be really in form. The Kia WKNDR looks like a well thought out advance in recreation vehicles.
IONIC9 and EV9 My dream Car
Car designers don't half speak a lot of nonsense. The Weekender looked pretty cool though.

It's cheaper on lawsuits with only 2 passengers families to press wrongful death charges.
Lovely video, I have been to lots of west coast islands but never Colonsay it looks amazing
Why is the British Motor Show never now on the scale of these overseas exhibitions and seem to be more fixated on old classic cars?
Lack of manufacturer interest, the same reason Geneva has gone

It looks better but then Kia EV3 looks like its compact version. Ioniq 9 looks more distinct than its siblings so overall, still good.
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
But I actually love more Ioniq9 than EV9
It's a shame we're still objectifying women through the metaphor of car design.
@Dobblyfodo Stop yourself
I'll start my EV adventures with an Ioniq9, then in a couple of years trade in against the WKNDR
I'm waiting for the EV5 to come out in the UK. It will then be a toss up between the Ioniq5
Wow that Charger :D
I hope the Charger's charger looks good too!
Manos (hope i speeled that right) has great taste, theDodge Charger looks fantastic
The Kia Weekndr reminds me of what the Mitsubishi Delica once was as an adventure rig
Crazy that Ginny reports the Ioniq 9 GT will do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds but the Kia EV9 GT will do it in a pokey 4.3 secs.
KIA PV5 - I want it and I want it now!
I'm totally with manos with the dodge being the star of the show

Oh hello TheStraightPipes ducking past the Ioniq 9
LA Motor Show…. Great for your carbon footprint I’m sure, but still no sight of a lands end to John o groats caravan road test I see?

There’s really no point in talking about Vinfast - they’ll be out of business soon enough.
20 minutes of meh vehicles then a few seconds of the Charger. Massive kudos to Stellantis for not making it an SUV.

Great cars. 😂 Cant afford any of them. Which just goes to prove the ever day normal human is by in large, forgotten.
