I’m opposed to hating a brand, and while I don’t like riding Harleys, it doesn’t matter. I like gentlemanly riders like you two, and don’t care what you ride. Being a good human goes a long way.

Thanks for answering my question about the 350 engines in California! My dealership has the interceptor on sale at comparable prices to the classics so I think I’ll probably go with the int anyway! Appreciate your insight there. Also appreciate your answer to the hairloss question. I’m 28 and have thinning hair myself, will probably have to shave it before long too. Glad to hear your positive experience with it!

Bro thank you so much for answering the hairloss question. It's such a personal thing for men and it's so important to share these things with other men. I love your main channel for the motorcycles but the main reason I'm a subscriber is because of your father/son dynamic and the positive masculinity you both embody. Thanks again and loving the podcast!

I think what you're saying in terms of the younger or new audience re' opinion on Harley is spot on. I have had sport bikes since I was 18 until I sold up at 30 when life took over and starting started a family. Now I'm 34 I'm wanting back on two wheels and find myself looking at character and how a bike makes me feel more than the adrenaline and speed side and track work.
I'm looking at HD slim, Lowrider S and Street bob. Who knows what I'll end up with but certainly I see HD more appealing to those further on in their riding lifecycle.

I love your podcast! I could sit here for days listening to you rambelig haha. Really cool that Darcy is a Gojira fan!
If you could make any brand start producing a modern classic/retro bike of a bike that is taken out of production, what would that be?
I personally wish BMW could start making a modern retro that is visially similar to the Air Heads of the 70s and 80s, and with similar engines. As in 450cc, 650cc, 800cc and 1000cc. I think the R12 nine T and similar dont cut the mustard visally and enginevise.

The mob ride culture of the younger riding community is rampant, and pretty much sports bike exclusive.
Big groups of quick weapons, taking turns at racing, lots of noise, wheelies, much of it posted on TH-cam.
Plenty of good aspects to them too, though.
Not my scene, but I’ve ridden my R18 through a carpark full of their bikes during one of their stops, and the atmosphere is friendly and lively, and the bikes (whilst not my choice of ride), are a colourful hi-tech spectacle.

  • @TheStumpyFingers

After almost 40 years of riding motorcycles, I have made a list of the important features of a motorcycle.
What do I want to do on the bike? I have tried several different types, sports, naked, adventure and cruiser.
I decided that I wanted shaft driven bikes, then it was the style of bike that suited me, then the capacity of the engine.

Just wanted to say that I follow the Darcy & The Old Man channel & have just started listening to this podcast whic I'm enjoying. I listen to (rather than watching) podcasts, typically in the gym or driving in the car. I like the diversification in the TH-cam channel now your getting new brands like Indian, Royal Enfield & Moto Guzzi. Still in the tradition of modern classic/retro bikes but with a broader spread of styles & appeal to different riding styles. Keep up the good work. 👍

    @Dad'nDarcy: Love you guys!
Yes HD is in a difficult spot.
Here in Germany you don't find any HD in the top 50 most sold motorcycles in 2023.
In the media classic motorcycles still seem very en vogue, and you can have the impression that they are even more appreciated in these special times.
But the sales numbers don't show that.
The only "heritage" models in the top 50 are the Honda CB 650 R and the Kawasaki Z 900 RS.
No Royal Enfields, no Indians, no classic Triumphs, no R18 and not even the R nineT, which was in the top 20 over many years like the 48 and the Street Bob.
The RevMax platform from HD wasn't doing very good in 2023. 75% (!) less sold Pan Americas in comparison to 2022.
The Nightster went up 70% because of the Special, but at the same time the Sportster S went down 70%.
To be fair to the Lifewire: Like the Yamaha Niken everybody loves it but nobody buys it.
And everyone loved the Bronx!! It was clearly the most popular model when presented. I thought proving a point with the Lifwire before the launch of the RevMax platform was a pretty clever strategy from HD. Sadly we never got the Bronx.
How would a new classic "EvolutionMax" Sportster do? It's easy to say better than the RevMax Sportsters but we don't know.
I feel a 350 thumper or 500 v twin put into a 1920s styled chassis could do well also. But I don't know.
    Cheers guys ✌🏻

Question for your next podcast. I'm an expat living in the USA. where do you think Euro 5 & beyond is heading? In America we can still buy the carbureted Honda XL650L & Suzuki DR650 due to having no compulsory ABS laws for motorcycles & obviously lower emission laws, manufactures like Honda have had to give up the V4 engine due to non compliance on Euro 5 Also regarding Harley, in America they have now become a luxury brand, they are offering nothing to attract newer riders, cutting their cheaper models & their rider base is getting older can they survive due to catering for their older customers & producing bikes that die hard Harley enthusiasts don't want & wont adapt too?

Question - thanks for your comments on the R18. I think I'm going to look at Royal Enfield, I'm not keen on the meteors and out of the Classic and the Bullet I prefer the looks of the bullet, love that tank badge. So the dilemma, I've narrowed it to 3. Bullet, Interceptor and Conti GT. I prefer the looks of the Conti GT to the Interceptor myself but I think the Interceptor is better for what I plan to do. I have no interest in going fast, I just want to pootle around the lanes near my house in the Cheshire country side looking at the views and looking cool, no motorways etc. Style is important to me, I'll be paying a lot of attention to the clothes and helmet to go with the bike. Which would you get from those three? Thanks again, Will

First time watching you guys, absolutely loved it.
Looking to get back into biking though I’m a chilled out rider, though I’m not liking the cruisers feet/leg positioning though I may get use to it.
