DO you have the lyrics to Michael's song "Friction"? There's a few words we can't make out
"I don't care what's been said with every step I take
I feel like a different person with every breath I make
Is it the face, the face of freedom, I got in my hands
Gotta get some of that (upon that?) getting in my veins
Send me God, she knows i need her, send the devil away
Send me God, she knows i need her, zip, click, tear (or terror?) away
I saw a man shoot the sky with the gun of truth
Small kids (or smoking?) convictions, what I saw was wrong
Tie the noose and untie the changes/chains, soon becomes your heart
All the blame has shifted, its tearing you apart
Send me God, she knows I need her, to send the devil away
Send me God, she knows I need her, zip, click, tear (or Terror) away
We got too much friction, we got too much
We got too much friction, we got too much "
      Thanks!

One great thing about INXS live - they always stayed true to the song they recorded...no matter how long ago that was. So many groups buthcher their songs as time goes on....as if they are sick of them. INXS always seemed to be proud of what they originally recorded and respected all of them.

I was fortunate to meet Michael twice backstage at the American Music Awards at the Shrine Auditorium. The first time I was walking by him and touched his hair and said, "Nice hair," and he said slyly with a devilish grin, "Thanks." The second time I ran into him it was when we were both alone and he was waiting to perform. We spoke for a few minutes and he captured my heart with his gentleness, humility and kindness. After the show finished, and everyone was leaving, I saw him waiting for the band's limo. He gave me a kiss on the cheek and asked if I was going to the same afterparty. I thought I'd see him again later on that night but, sadly, I didn't. Some years later, I heard on the radio he had died and it felt like I lost a piece of my heart. He was a gem of a man.

Tom Petty, Bon Scott, Mick Jager and tons of others couldn't sing at all, but their voices are just as valuable and iconic.
Every voice is unique, and singing is an art form. In reality, Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry or a young Robert Plant would blow this band off of the stage every night. No one wantyed to be the band that plated after Hendrix, either. Ever.
However, I still appreciate Inxs as an impressive band... this rehearsal video was cool.

Scientists have some idea's as to people's brains, but even they are in the dark with the brain. They just don't know. Those closest to their friends know alot of the story, emotional and mental health of their friends, but taking one's own life is still a shock and still leaves family and friends wondering 'why' ?!?!? I think that comments here suggesting he looks/seems fine and surely couldn't have taken his life within the next 24 hours are underestimating the power of depression and anxiety. It can hit you like a freight train without a moments notice, even when you may feel relatively fine and can easily spiral out of control. Of course, none of us know exactly what happened but it's perfectly conceivable that Michael may have felt OK during this rehearsal but his subsequent course of events took its toll. Who knows, but one thing is for sure a great man was lost. love you Michael x

It is possible that things can weigh down on someone for a long period of time and they are simply coping the best way they know how, when someone is in this state it is business as usual, just going through the paces. One foot in front of the other. He knew these guys and these songs back to front & at this time of the day he was probably relaxed and felt good. Don't forget under his particular pressures at the time personal and business he was on Prozac and you can see here it is the late morning and he is already drinking beers rehearsing, alcohol is a depressant, mix that with a cocktail of other things and pressures of his personal life at the time, slowly building up during the day and that night, and seemingly no one to turn to in the wee hours of the morning ......god knows how things turned out, just tragic

It pains me to watch this. His passing was tragic beyond belief. I could watch and listen to Michael 24/7 as many could I'm sure... such was the power of his gift and ability to relate. Simply mezmerising.

I was (am) a "big" INXS fan. On 22.11.1997 I had my first legal state exam. My father-in-law drove me to the court in the morning. Fortunately I did not listen to any radio stadtion. After passing the examintion in late afternoon, I was shocked when my wife told me about Michael's death. I have immortalized Michael head on my office entrance door.

I really looked up to him when I was a kid. I remember him talking about MaxQ, his electronic music project in about 1990, in The Face magazine. He was just impossibly cool and interesting. Still love the guy, to be honest. Lucky enough to watch him perform with his quite fantastic band, once upon a time.

@@kittycat6195 l'm shocked that some still call a delberate act of suicide a possible game from which you may or may not die. Erotic asphyxiation (AF) involves rendering oneself unconscious in such a way that they expect it to come undone while they are unconscious. (I won't tell you the ways here) and sadly they are still very likely to die from the knot not coming undone, from swallowing their tongue and even more likely to have permanent brain damage - Don’t do it. Michael Hutchence clearly did not expect to regain consciousness! He hung himself from a door hinge above the door. After he died the belt broke and he fell to the kneeling position facing the door. It was suicide. Although Paula Yates changed her story from depression to AF and said she was challenging the corners report, she never did challenge it. Many teens are dying from hanging that they wrongly believe may give them some sort of thrill because of this misinformation.

Dosnt always work that way that's the nature of depression when you reach that point and are so ill that you can't think of anything but relieving your pain and doing this seems the only answer and as a sufferer of depression since my 20s now in my 60s I can see that he was tormented , it's in his eyes his face I see it, and there was alot of stuff in our British papers at the time insinuating he wasn't happy with fallout between Paula yates and Bob Geldof alot of stuff going on it affected him too.
