    • @christopher.stewart
      @christopher.stewart 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      it's semantically wrong : whether or not a person is « wacko » (or any similar label) cannot be established by experience… at best, one can says that a person has an history of behaving in a manner that they, or other people, deem is « wacko, » but even that doesn't imply that each and every action they have ever taken, and/or that they will take in the future, can de facto be deemed « wacko »… and that's the whole point : the problem is never the person themselves, but what they do/don't do or what they say/don't say… and thus the problem here is not whether or not PM Trudeau « is wacko, » the problem, at least according to MP Poilievre, is that the policy « is wacko »… so, for his criticism to be legitimate, MP Poilievre should target the policy, and not the person of the PM, but he doesn't… he rather insists, even after being offered several opportunities to withdraw the personal attacks, and repeats the offense using different labels…
      moreover, personal attacks, such as name calling, are a well-known logical fallacy that consists in trying to discredit the person rather than properly refuting their points, or in the present instance, policies… and obviously that is fallacious because it doesn't actually address the points themselves… and ultimately that amounts to fooling oneself, as the points haven't been properly refuted, and thus the problem, and the burden of addressing it, remain whole…
      also, that a person resorts to such fallacious methods suggests that they don't really have any sort of substantial argument to support their criticism… if they did, they would simply have to present those arguments, and thus properly refute the points of the other person, and that would be the end of the story… truth needs no artifice…
      why all of this is important has to do with order, and how order is related to personal well-being… basically, allowing falsehood into one's mind is courting internal trouble, and thus upholding truth is a requirement of the physiology of human consciousness…
      « To conceive order, to return to order, to realize order in oneself, around oneself, by means of oneself, this is aesthetic and moral beauty, it is well-being, it is what ought to be. » ― Henri-Frédéric Amiel
      that being said, personally i typically lean towards the left, but as you pointed out, PM Trudeau has also made similar mistakes in the past, for instance during the last federal campaign when he quite spectacularly insulted people who were refusing vaccination…
      it would be nice if the people who want to govern a country would wake up to their duty of leading by example, and at the very least apologize for committing such unjustifiable missteps…

      The Canadian parliamentary rules outline conduct guidelines for speaking members:
      Members must be in their designated place, stand to be recognized, and address the Chair when speaking.
      Attire expectations include jackets, shirts, and ties for male Members.
      Freedom of speech is a crucial privilege, but it must be exercised with respect and within the rules.
      Members are expected to maintain order and decorum, respecting others' viewpoints and avoiding offensive behaviour or language.
      The Speaker plays a vital role in maintaining order and enforcing rules.
      These rules are intended to foster respectful and orderly debate within the House-an aspect that seems lost on Pierre Poilievre and his internet trolls.

      What Global doesn't show is Trudeau labelling Pierre extremist in his previous comment, which is why Pierre changed it to "Extremist" to make a point, of the bias this SPeaker was showing.....SINCE WHEN, can you call names like Extremist in parliament.....ONLY SINCE A LIBERAL APPOINTED SPEAKER has taken that seat has no CLUE what unbiased is, obviously. They also don't show the full conservative party get up and leave, costing Canadians HOW MUCH MONEY FOR THAT DAY, and conveniently didn't report on that either, or get a financial count on how much money it cost and how much time was left on question-answer period that his bias has cost us all with his Liberal Egomaniac Outburst. This guy's days are numbered for sure, as he doesn't seem to get much except how to sit and grin like a hog at the trough, that Pierre is trying to rectify. Wacko, I can assure you isn't the word the rest of us Canadians are using for Trudeau..... When he can Label truckers Extremist Nazis in one sentence, in Parliament, then in his next show he invites a Nazi and applauds him from the Ukraine, there is a bit of a bias right there. That alone should have gotten us a vote, if it was 20 to 30 years ago it may have gotten us an execution for treason. If it was in France they would have brought back the Guillotine, as the last guy in 1979 who was executed on it, likely did far less to deserve it than Trudeau has done to this nation.

      The Speaker is responsible for maintaining order in the Chamber by ensuring that the House’s rules and practices are respected. Which they clearly were not by Pierre Poilievre! The Speaker’s disciplinary powers are intended to ensure that the debate remains focused. The right to speak is tempered by the written rules of the House which, in general, impose limitations on what may be said and when, by whom and for how long.
      The proceedings of the House are based on a long-standing tradition of respect for the integrity of all Members. Pierre Poilievre consistently overlooks the importance of civility and respectful discourse, opting instead for vitriolic and disrespectful remarks.
      The use of offensive, provocative or threatening language in the House is strictly forbidden. Personal attacks, insults, and obscenities are not in order. The rules of the House are based on the idea that elected officials should work to maintain a sense of respect for all members of Parliament. The Speaker, along with the other presiding officers, is responsible for enforcing these long-standing rules.

    • @christopher.stewart
      @christopher.stewart 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      your description is counterfactual : for one, replacing is not withdrawing… replacing a derogatory label with another doesn't really change the gist of the comment : it remains a personal attack… so then MP Poilievre was asked to withdraw the attack, but he refused to comply, and did so on several occasions… that he was kicked out for this is consistent with the rules of the House…
      that being said, if the Speaker doesn't apply those rules equally to everyone, including PM Trudeau, as has been suggested elsewhere in this comment section, then there's indeed of problem of bias…
      also, MP Poilievre should have directed his criticism towards the policy only… in targeting the person of the PM, he merely shot himself in the foot, as the whole debate was derailed, and the opportunity to show which aspects of the policy are inappropriate has been lost…

      regardless of which side of the aisle they're on, when elected officials act in such a manner, i find it quite hard to see how they actually serve the people, the ideals of democracy, and at times even their own aims, which they should be able to explain and justify without having to resort to such avoidance strategies… this is clearly not the example i want to be led by, and i doubt that many people do…

      Canada has a very serious discrimination and entitlement problem. Because there are obviously unresolved issues with eugenics based ideologies, when a prime minister in waiting, is blissfully unaware of how dehumanizing his comments and perspectives are….perpetually at the run off of a number of preventable problems, rather than the root. Why not put this much energy into holding big pharma accountable for drug crises?

      Whacko is pre twentieth century ableist trope, intended to dehumanize and demonize people, effectively roiling up hatred and ignorance to divert from the root of something as serious as a major drug crisis. Why not put the energy into holding insurers and pharma and our judiciary more accountable?

When politicians avoid answering questions over and over again, does that waste time and tax dollars?

    My first day of University is tomorrow at Grant MacEwan in Edmonton. I went to pick up my books today. Upon leaving the school, first I saw two people in broad daylight in the bus stop in front of the school smoking meth freely. Then, I was followed by a man all the way to the parking lot where my car was. I told him you need to stop following me. He said I'm robbing you, this is what we're doing right now. He said give me your money. When he was following me he got so close I thought he was gonna whack me over the back of the head. Luckily a school bus showed up and I waved at the driver and he let me in. He told me "sometimes God puts these things in your path to make you aware and to let out the Goliath in you." Its my first day tomorrow and this was my experience. This country is in bad shape.

It was a simple matter of expelling Poilievre, however, he had to read it off (complete with post - it note attached) because it seems he was incapable of coming up with the words on his own. Notice, he didn't expel Trudeau for his name - calling of Poilievre.
