Oh, the flower pot is giving me ideas! Planned to build a box from cementboard that I would dump the reclaim slurry into, then push it all up against the side walls instead of leaving it pooled at the bottom. That'll get more clay to surface contact, allowing for faster and even drying.
Terracotta planters might just work better if I use many smaller ones within the same space of the box! More surface area and easier handling too

Hey, Scott...greetings from sunny Syracuse! Nice to see you here. And this is timely: I just took delivery on my first wheel, after years of lessons-potting, and it came with a bunch of slakable clay from the former owner. Time to get to work!

Most of the water will evaporate, the pillowcase hanging inside a trash can has no air circulation, hang it out in the open and it will be much faster.

If you tie the pillowcase to the board when it is still in the smaller bucket, you can just move it over.
Also I wonder if increased airflow would help any of those? So if the pillow case were elevated out of the bin would the improved airflow speed things up?
Also, if you put the plaster back in the corner, where the cement board is, would they still have the same relative wicking strength?

That's a good idea for the pillowcase - leave it in the bucket and tie the knot. If you have a place to hang the pillowcases outside, that would be ideal, but not so great in Canadian winters.
I've tried the cement board in other locations, both indoor and outdoor, and it continues to have the same inconsistent results.

@@ScottNicholson also, a couple spins of the pillowcase to tighten it up and squeeze some water out may give it a quicker start. Like in cheese making.
I don't know why I'm suggesting fixes to make the pillowcase method work when you have found another method that seems to work great.

Glad you're doing well, but are you completely done with board game ambassadorship and education? A video about clay surprised me. Haven't seen you in years doing regular board game stuff except for, it seems, the occasional wild hare. Take care!

I've started a new board game show called Introspective, which you'll find in this same channel. Look for the playlist called "Introspective" - th-cam.com/play/PLhyRBdPvcWK7U0T4ntz2P6iSJ1dxO4Y6U.html
