Great video I have been thinking of switching to Things. Best takeaway even after years of using different personal planning systems, was your comment about misusing deadlines.
Appreciate the video! I already had things for iPhone and iPad, but watching this gave me a sense of how good this app looks and works on the Mac, so I bought the Mac version as well. Thanks again!

I use Things Three all the time and it really organises my busy life. Your video was both informative and enjoyable and it showed me some great tips I had not yet discovered. Thank you.
I thought about getting Things 3 because I heard so much about it. But after watching this video, which was a good video. I realized that this is nothing different than what I'm already doing with calendars and reminders on my iPhone and Note 9.
Thanks, man! I make difficult choice between Apple reminders, Any.do, TickTick and Things3. And I choose Things 3, it's best even for it's price (one-time payment) You did great work. I've found your channel when I searched best ways to use Notion.
I am new to the Apple Eco System and only have an iPhone. I’m currently using Reminders and Apple Notes. Do you believe it makes sense to use This 3 without a Mac? I enjoy all the functionality you show in your channel. 😊

Really liked this video! Thanks for putting everything into simple terms! I feel like I have a much better understanding of how to effectively use this app!
I'm just getting started with Things 3, and so far I really like it. I haven't been able to find a feature for habit-tracking. Is there such a feature in Things, or is there a technique that you would recommend be used for habit-tracking in Things?
4:00 I've been wanting to get my tooth fixed since the dentist didn't do it the way I wanted. But it doesn't hurt, and so there is no deadline. I've already put it off for 2 weeks. My other work stuff has taken priority since I need to start making money asap. How long am I going to put of my dental visit? How do I set a deadline for that sort of thing or prioritize it?
Good question. That’s not the sort of thing a task manager will help you with. At some point, you just have to decide to do it. Task managers can’t prioritize for you!
Great video Peter, Really entertaining and I think that ill be getting into this things 3 shit pretty soon, Keep the quality up and you will go far my friend
I love that Things3 can sync with Reminders and iCal; can it also sync with Notes? The reason I ask is that my husband and I share some notes to stay in sync with each other, for example, our grocery list. If my husband does NOT use Things3, is it possible for me to sync a grocery list in Notes to a list in Things3?
I've probably had the Things app for 8 or more years, but there's so much I'm still not utilizing. Thank you so much Peter for your clear simple explanations. I really want to learn how to set up a template. You did that on another video but it just was too fast. I'll check out some of your other free resources.
Hi Peter. A great introduction! Short simple question in particular issue. - Repeatable payments (every month) If I make payment earlier than the set up date I don’t have possibility to check box (done) What am I make wrong? Any advice?
As a regular user and big fan of Things 3, I have followed your great videos on using task managers an found them excellent. Could I ask though, when you create an area on Things 3, what is the small square box next to the area? If you press it, it changes. Any ideas?
Excelente vídeo!! Impressionante como você explica de uma forma objetiva! Eu estava muito confuso com o app, comecei a usar ontem. Mas tenho certeza que após essa aula, meu problema estará resolvido! Valeu!!
Well explained. Thanks for that. I've just started with Things 3 and started to move my tasks from Nozbe and then... Boom! Where are the attachments?! How do you deal with that? I tried workflow with iCloud link but most attachments I have are actually screenshots and it does not make sense to keep them as files.
I don’t usually find myself needing to attach files to tasks. If I have a file, I just put it in the relevant, organized place on my hard drive, and grab it there if I need it.
Enjoyed your video but I did not see the link at the bottom of this video for your Learn Things 3 video you spoke about. Also the link for the “Free weekly review cheat sheet” did not work (was not clickable)
How do you handle tasks you've delegated to someone else in Things? That's the one thing I can't make work in this software. In ToDoist, I use a waiting tag and then use a Filter to grab the work tasks that I'm waiting on other people for today. I also have a Filter for ALL the current work tasks I'm waiting on someone else for. How is this possible in Things? Doesn't seem like it's set up for that, but more for personal management only. thoughts? Thank you!!
Yes, Things is primarily for personal task management. But you can create a “waiting for” tag or a “delegated” tag. For example, you might have a task like “share meeting agenda with the team” with a “waiting for” tag assigned; in the task’s note, you could write something like “waiting for Jack to send me agenda items”.
@@PeterAkkies thank you for taking the time to reply and offer your advice. I really appreciate that! The issue with that approach is i need the tasks that are ‘waiting’ to leave me Today view because at that point i can no longer actively work on them until the person completes their task. If i have to wade through the 20-30 total tasks that i have each day between items i need to actually complete vs the ones I’m waiting on others to complete, using the task manager becomes unwieldy; i waste time trying to figure out what i actually need to do. Does that make sense? I need those waiting for tasks to be stored in a separate location that i can review when I’m able to. Any ideas in Things? In ToDoist i use filters. But this app is much prettier and would like to use it if it can accommodate more of a manager’s workflow, which is the workflow i have.
Really helpful, but I have difficult into organize my areas...It’s correct to create a “Personal” area, for to-dos and project that are for my personal life only? It’s very difficult to find the right areas to create... Thanks for the help!

How is “when you plan to do the task” different than ”when you want to start a todo”? For example, if a student has a school project wouldn’t they use the “When?” feature to pick a date for when they want to start it?
@@Patrick76399 Some of my comments got lost, so I'll comment again here: I see "when" as when I plan to not only start but also *complete* the task. If the task is too big to complete in one work session, then I like to break it down into parts.
Yes, if you set a reminder you'll set it for a specific time, and Things will send you a notification. As long as you give Things permission to send notifications to your lock screen, it will do that.
Do you think the Today feature should be organized by hour? If we can pick a day then why can’t we pick a time of day since logically every todo will be done at some point in time during the day whether the user chooses so or not?
No, it should not. Things is a task manager, not a time manager. To manage your time, you’re better off using your calendar, which is designed to manage your time.
