As a native speaker of Russian (along with Georgian and English), I'll tell you this: Do not waste your time learning Russian. You won't ever need it. If you'd like to learn a Slavic language, learn Ukrainian (you'll understand Russian alright with that, along with Polish and Belorussian). Otherwise, learn French or any other Latin language and one of the Asians, e.g., Japanese.
Georgian is a beautiful language, but it isn't easy and somewhat less useful.
