      @@Simplicity1207my first tattoo I had second skin and was told 1week then remove wash carefully dry and moisturize. Tbh I only washed and used moisturizing scent less aveeno body wash with colloidal oatmeal a few times a day and it peeled a little after the removal but overall healed amazing and wasn't a pain. I just got a full calf piece recently, ankle to the ditch of the knee and wrapping around the sides of the calf and we used Sarin wrap and the healing process has been a pain in the butt so far no lies. But I wasn't fully prepared either, you have to be so much more careful and take care of it non stop but with saniderm the dude who did my first tattoo said it accelerates the healing process by trapping the plasma (the good healing stuff) in there while it dries up through the second skin then to leave it for a while while the skin heals by the time you take it off after a week it's basically well started the healing process and I wished I'd used saniderm on my full calve piece. Alot of the second skins are waterproof too so you don't need to worry about over washing/soaking during the intiatial healing stages while you shower

    You make a lot of good points. After getting 78 tattoos to date, I can say that I what works best for me. In all that time I only had 3 minor tattoo infections, one being from doing sweaty yard work the day after I was tattooed. I've tried all sorts of products and have gotten all sorts of advice. If people go to a variety of artists they can try the aftercare each one suggests. My tattoos heal at the skins surface in an average of 2-3 weeks. A lot of that has to with location and irritation from clothes rubbing. For me personally, Saniderm, if properly applied, my tattoos usually heal in about 1/2 the time that they would using the "old fashioned" methods. But that's me--after they've had tattoos by a good number of artists and try their aftercare--eventually people should be able to decide what method works effectively for them.

    Listen to your artist!!! Can't stress that enough! My new tattoo is the entire length of my forearm. Got the new ink 9 days ago. Left the initial "second-skin" on for four days. VERY little plasma and ink seeping. Have washed the tattoo with gold Dial soap 4 times daily. After dry, dabbed Lubriderm on 6-7 times daily. Barely flaked at all. No scabbing or anything. Tattoo is bold and vibrant. Surface barely feels raised anymore. My artist has ten years experience. Listen to your artist! You'll be glad you did! Thanks for the great video, as always!

      Thanks for sharing! What you said is 💯 right!

    • @michelleh2603
      @michelleh2603 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree. The one tattoo that I didn't use a Second Skin (or Tegaderm, Saniderm) took the longest to heal and was the most unpleasant to heal as well. Since that tattoo, I've always used one of the above mentioned products and have had great success with healing. I like that I don't get scabbed and there is no peeling or itching. When I first started going to my artist, he recommended against using wraps. After seeing how well and how quickly my tats have healed, he said that I should keep doing what I do because my results were so good. I tend to change my wrap every couple of days for about a week, but it depends on placement as well. My spine tattoo barely seeped any blood or plasma so I left the wrap on for days, while the inside of my bicep needed more frequent changes. Also, I've been doing some reading and it looks like doctors are trying to debunk the myth that wounds should be uncovered to dry and need air. Most of what I've read says that wounds heal better with moisture. JMHO based on my own experiences.

    • @JCsHorrorShow
      @JCsHorrorShow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@michelleh2603 I fully agree with most of your comment. Listen to the artist. They do this for a living. Most "second-skin" bandages do provide air. They have tiny holes in them, to allow the tattoo to breathe. Moisturizing is instrumental in the healing of your tattoo. Once that wrap comes off, I can't stress enough how important moisturizing becomes. Put a thin layer of moisturizer on that bad boy a few times a day, for at least a couple weeks. After that I'd moisturize morning and night, whenever you brush your teeth. "Dry healing" does get some love on TH-cam, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. Moisturizing helps the skin heal faster. Also, and most importantly, don't over-moisturize your tattoo! Only use a thin layer. Just dab on a couple spots and gently rub it in. Thin layers! Too much moisturizer can smother your tattoo, which can produce some bad results. Thanks for the reply!

    • @JCsHorrorShow
      @JCsHorrorShow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scubaowen226 I live with pets. Washing 4X in a day wasn't that much. And moisturizing can't be stressed enough. I barely had a single flake. And I had ZERO scabbing. Again, my new tattoo was the entire length of my forearm. ZERO scabbing. Was it a lot of washing and moisturizing? Yes it was. Did it pay off? You bet. My tattoo is bold and vibrant, and I couldn't be happier. Could I have gotten by with less washing and moisturizing? Probably. But I'd much rather be safe, than sorry. I urge everyone to follow their artist's advice. I'm not knocking anyone's decisions. This is just what worked best for me. Best of luck to everyone.

    ( diet-High protine and collagen protine with peptides helps) Clean and moisturize with a balm. 3-4 times a day. Allow about 10 min. To dry, then Rub your balm on, completely cover it and patt off any excess balm with clean paper towels. Repeat as needed throughout the day. Also, something I like doing the first day of your fresh tattoo, is to keep it cool with an ice pack to reduce redness and swelling. This is particularly good for large tattoos. Just make sure it's not direct on the ice pack. Wrap ice pack with a clean white tee shirt or paper towel and put on the tattoo to alleviate some pain.

Then I’m going to put a saniderm on it, and depending on if I see build up or not, I’ll remove it after a few days or 24 hours. Wish me luck!

    The thing about seniderm if you leave it on too long you will take it off and accidentally pull the scabs. We scab at different rates and some of us will scan early at day 4 or even day 7. For anyone that isn't allergic to adhesive, saniderm is the way to go. The longer you live it on the better (5 day max). Tattoos that had saniderm on for 3 days for me only peeled a little while tattoos that healed with saniderm for 5 days had little to no peeling.

    I removed the seniderm after 24 hours I did not know I was allergic to adhesive. It has become red and a small part of tattoo looks cloudy. I showed it to the tattoo artist a week later since I did not know if that was normal or it looked like that because of the cream but he said that now we have to wait until it fully heals and might need retouching! It’s such a beautiful tattoo, I hope I heal properly I’m worried.

    • @EvolveINK
      @EvolveINK  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your artist is right. Before touch ups, the tattoo needs to heal. Saniderm doesn’t work for everyone. Some people are allergic to the adhesive and others might can get an allergic reaction to the green soap the artist uses. That green soap can get trapped under the saniderm and cause problems lol

    I keep it wrapped in saran wrap for about 12 hours minimum, rinse with just water or light soap (Dr Bronners) for 3-7 days, and no aftercare products except a tiny bit of coconut oil if the soap has dried it up too much. I have a shoulder piece, one and one half sleeve, chest piece, and a few more on my thighs and ankles. Only minor infection I had was one little blackout piece that the artist was a little too rough with. You don't need anything special. Light soap if you think its dirty or had a good amount of sweat and then maybe some coconut oil if it dries up and gets all flaky. I have maybe one to two days where the extra ink comes off (within three days and before using soap) and I am good. I do not think you need all these fancy chemicals and I prefer not to put anything that is not natural on my skin.
    I will admit my sleeve and chest piece are not too extensive, so your experience may be different.

      My tat is super scabbed, I'm on day 9, started about 4 days ago. It's a tat on my back so my husband's cleaning and caring for it. I can tell he wants to take off the scabs but I'm letting them just fall off to not pull ink. The key when it's flaky and scabby is to pat it with lotion until absorbed. No rubbing just pat pat pat.
