I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up th-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.
Rob, that is a neat and efficient setup. I've watched many videos on shop setups and builds. What I can tell your audience is that work shops are divided into many aspects. I do some welding, auto mechanics on my own vehicles, woodworking builds, plumbing on my house, electrical and electronics and appliance repairs, mine. You can name it and I'll attempt to do it especially with the help of youtube videos. What I can say about these convertible tools is that they are fine if one is not building stuff for mass production.
I would worry that with that long of a hose for a shop vac that you would lose most of the suction. That is why for my 'small shop' i went bigger with a laguna 14-12 and just have dual 4" quick connect hoses off of it that can reach all my tools. That way no log runs of hose and the hepa filtration takes care of the fine particles, and the built in cyclone keeps the bigger stuff in the bin. More expensive, yes...much much better hepa dust collection though.
This makes me drool and so envious. Unfortunately I only have 1 car garage so I can only accommodate a 8 1/4 dewalt table saw, a small table top router table, small miter saw and handful of clamps. So limiting - can't get a planer, band saw and drill press :(
I've had several sizes of workbenches. I've found a 3x7 is about the perfect size all around. Check it out at the end of my video.. th-cam.com/video/mSMR_Rfuikg/w-d-xo.html
Any advice on noise control/suppression for small shop? I'm redesigning my workshop which in the unfinished basement. The noise is one of the major problems and the whole house can hear it even when I use the drill! Thanks!
seal door cracks and windows well (or noise cancelling window film etc.). And pick up some noise canceling curtains, noise cancelling sheet rock set up, or the acoustic panels to install on wall. Sound needs ta bounce off of hard stuff so reduce that.
*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is an amazing book about woodworking. I`m a graduate of a one-year carpentry course from a local tech college. Of all books I`ve read during my study about carpentry, I think this is the finest book I`ve read so far. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?
Yes, you can only order it though SawStops parts department at service@sawstop.com. However, it may not integrate with other saws than the Jobsite Saw Pro.
This woodworking book is absolutely comprehensive, *www.WoodPlanner. xyz* It breaks every little thing down, using words, drawings, real photos, and different diagrams. It is incredibly informative and helps me feel like I can help my brother while we make our furniture together. .
I was curious about that myself. I really wish these types of videos would just put a price tag on it. If I am going to dream I'd like at least a ballpark.
If a shop is in an enclosed garage, basement or shed where the ambient air in the shop can be controlled, one of the best ways to reduce humidity is to use an ordinary dehumidifier during summer months. A window air conditioner can also serve the same function (drying the air) while also lowering temperature to make the shop space more pleasant to work in on hot days. It's beneficial to know what the relative humidity is in a woodworking shop, regardless of whether you use a dehumidifier or air conditioner. Buy a hygrometer (often a feature included with electronic thermometers) and put it up in the shop where it's not close to a door or window. It will provide moisture readings in percentages. Try to keep your shop's indoor humidity around 50 percent or less, if possible. Doing that will go a long way toward controlling rust and helping to keep wood dry.
I strongly suggest you dont buy it from rockler and you buy 'Unistrut' from an electrican supply. you can buy curved sections as well and it will be around 13 cdn for 10ft vs rocklers 59 usd for 4ft also steel vs pvc
The cost will be the total of all of the items you choose to put into it. For this one, our best estimate is around $2500, depending on which items you purchase and what quantities of each you choose to purchase.
Thats the most sterile shop I ever saw. Where’s all the materials, cutoffs and half finished projects??? At least put some old license plates on the wall.
My guess was that it had just been put together. I was also looking for bits of scrap, things on the wall, evidence of work etc. Bet it's not so sterile now!
Comment peux-tu dire que tu es un woodworking quand tu as absolument rien de fait avec tes mains toute des produits acheter et en métal , vraiment inconcevable 😡😡😡
That is not my idea of a "small shop". I have 8x10' of space. This is nothing more then a Rockler advertisement. That means I will resource everywhere high and low before I drop a dime with rockler. Clickbait.
Perhaps ask Rockler for a refund for this video... because you paid for it, right? Also, if they did an 8x10, someone would complain its not their idea of small workshop because theirs is 4x5 feet
More like a showroom than actual workshop. Beginners would fall for this
Why wouldn't Rockler showcase what they have? They're a business...duh lol
The best space design I’ve seen, just enough essential tools for a shop and still have plenty of space, great job!!!!
Thanks to the Presenter, he is very efficient , thanks to Rockler too.

Very clean, organized, time-space efficient - Love this because messy spaces hurt my eyes. 😁 Thank you for this video.

Not realistic! Just like the rest of the house, nothing moved in except the tools..
this is about the same as my area. everything on wheels to maximize the area. nice and neat shop you have.

Hello, what is the name of the wood rack that you had mounted on the wall? Great video by the way!
Hello, those are our Lumber Racks. We have a 6 tier and a 4 tier version. Here is the link - www.rockler.com/rockler-lumber-rack - Thanks!
Very nice opinion in practice.
Brilliant shop - well done.
Where do all the tools and chargers on the workbench go when you need to use the workbench?
Tidy and clean wood shop. By the way, have you gotten any noise complain by neighbors?
One tool you don't have is a benchtop planer. The dust collector would need to be more than a shop vac. Which Dust Right collector would you suggest?
Shop for Oneido very good for small space but efficient, Google about it.
Mind blowing what can be done. My place looks absolutely s&i!t to the square.
All you need is an absolutely massive garage like this
If that is small workshop, my 1.8x6 meters it is a nano workshop 🙄
I just used a shed. th-cam.com/video/mSMR_Rfuikg/w-d-xo.html
My workshop is a small conservatory I’m sharing with a giant train table 😂
one question, Loved everything but the work bench seemed to small, say to put the project on. Any ideas

Link to the power strip bar mounted to the wall above the bench?
There should be a beer tap somewhere there...

This is the one that's used: www.rockler.com/volt-king-10-outlet-heavy-duty-power-station-with-2-usb-ports-and-led-worklights
how much did it cost to set up this shop with every thing shown

What are the dimensions of that space? This is a perfect idea for me to create a small workshop? Also what about filtration?
The space shown is roughly 11' x 11'. There was no air filtration set up for this shop at the time the video was made.
This sounds more like a Rockler commercial than tips on how to utilize your small work space.

All you are missing is a small cnc router. then.you could build anything in that shop!
no suction when he was "vacuuming" wonder if it was turned off or just so long a hose underpowered so as to be useless
I NEVER use a garage for my truck
All you need is a house!
Lmao thats a huge garage
Poor band saw
This is just a storage of neatly arranged and apparently unused workshop tools. For more reliable advice see the real workplace of real woodworkers.
Mate, it was clear that the space had just been put together. My guess is that almost none had been used at the time of filming.
Not sure if you want people to listen to the music or the guy talking?
If you got to buy your own shop furniture you are doing something wrong
