Band on the run was Paul's greatest achievement in his post-Beatles career. Every song is good no filler.
Looks like good insight. Love the stories upon release of the album. I remember playing the album upon first release. You can't imagine the thrill of hearing the songs for the very first time before you really heard a lot of radio play. The freshness and newness of songs was staggering. To me, it really felt like a Beatles album because the songs were so powerful like Jet and Let Me Roll It. Every song was a standout tune. Denny really shone so well. Linda too ! I love how Linda got the actors to do their bits in the photo shoot. The music and photos is every bit exciting as any Beatles album, in my opinion. Thanks for the great update on the book, Andrew.

Looks a great book to get. I do however now have a big backlog to read based on your recommendations! Just listened to the album and am always amazed at the uplift in quality compared to red rose speedway. Maybe the circumstances brought out the best in Paul. Thanks for showing us this and happy its an easier read! Still battling through the beatles movies book which is a long read ....
Always nice to get new info about the Fab Four.... Did you know that the new Dr. Who is going back to the sixties and will meet them? I think it's episode two...? Be appropriate if they are playing Dr. Robert. Or Across the Universe....

Thanks for the heads up on this book, if music is ideas is anything to go by this book on Band On The Run should be a fascinating read that will give context to our enjoyment and understanding of this classic album. Will Luca be focusing solely on Paul and Wings albums, or will he be covering other solo Beatles projects such as Imagine or Living In The Material World? The book looks great. Unfortunately the eyes are not what they were and I tend to buy books to read on my Kindle these days and the book is not available yet.
Very jealous that you've got the Band on the Run Under Mixed album on the shelf behind you. I've had mine on order for agrs and they say they've run out of stock!
Sounds interesting. It's great to see in recent years so much serious research into Paul's post-Beatles career. It's about time. I mean, he's only one of the most important musicians of the last 60 years.

ROLLING STONE SHOCKER and DENNY LAINE REMEMBERANCE
Why should we either be disgusted by Rolling Stone or simply deny its existence altogether.
Why is it a RS complete joke? Because Band on the Run was not in the Rolling Stones top 500 Albums of all time (2022).
In another RS post it was stated that is was arguably the best post-Beatles work yet then didn't’ give it any recognition in their top 500. I sincerely believe RS no longer deserves any serious music lover’s attention. My Wenner's lovechild is simply a load of bollocks, trying so desperately to be relevant that they chop and change their opinions like traffic lights.
This would have to be one of their most glaring omissions of all time.
Andrew, thank you for the review on this book. It looks like a very enjoyable read over a couple of nights. His book Music is Ideas would have to be in my top ten , if not five books on Mccartney as a solo artist.
The whole confusion with the multiple explanations/narratives of the demos theft in Lagos is something Paul has so often contradicted himself on. I wonder what Denny recalled. I am not sure precisely, but it's been approx. 16 months since Denny passed away. Humans tend to forget after the passages of time have elapsed, so I hope this substantial focus on BOTR brings Denny back into the minds of Macca and all fans. Still thinking of you Denny.

I think it's quite enjoyable, but not much news for the real Beatlesfan.
A very interesting part is Paul's interview about the break up and Klein.
I recommend the book.

When you said the book is 157 pages I thought you were going to say £157.00 I nearly had heart failure. After Record Store Day, nothing would surprise me. Fortunately the copy I have ordered from Amazon Is £16.99. There is also the Italian version available which I would have bought for my mother if she had still been with us as she was a budding linguist.
Why so much and on the run it's like beating a dead horse.
