Once sports gambling became legal and the thing to do, ref integrity went out the window.
Too much money in it for it not to be corrupt.
if it's corrupt it's not very efficient. Line was 3.5 and all the money was on the under. Even if you wanted to bet ML you stand to make more betting Colts and having them holding on at the end.

Hold the refs accountable. That iowa game is ridiculous
You also had the OU vs UCF game where a UCF player blew a kiss to the sideline during a TD run and it didnt get called back like the rules state it should have.
@@MrAB5510oh good on the refs for not calling that back, rules like that are horseshit.
Iowa call was the correct call. Never seen it actually reviewed before, that was definitely suspicious. But the actual call was right.
@@AndrewBurnett69 i guess when it's that blatant why spend 15 mins reviewing and holding the game up
@@Jrock420blam Agreed that the refs probably got the call right. However, I also agree that the way the TD got called back looks highly suspicious for a sport that doesn't have margin for error when it comes to not looking crooked.
I’m so glad you guys are calling this out without holding back like every single other show. The abhorrent officiating in the NFL is absolutely unacceptable.
Don't you remember Roger getting in front of the cameras proclaiming diversity and inclusion was a top priority for hiring practices. They got rid of the people who earned the job with tenure and performance. This is the result.
As gambling gets more prevalent and commercial, rigged contests will become more common. Sad thing
Qualifications for being a ref in the NFL - 1. Do what you’re told 2. Follow orders 3. Keep your mouth shut. 4. Bee good at referee job.
Here’s how it works. Fan duel, massive NFL sponsor, calls Roger Goodell and says, “hey, we’re having a tough season so far, we have 80% of bets on team X, we need their opponent, team Y to not only cover, but win, understood?!” Yes sir says Roger. Call goes out from Rogers minion to official crew chief, whose number one skill is following orders. Yes sir. Says loyal minion ref. Deal done.
2nd real situation. Little Caesars. Major nfl sponsor calls up Roger and says. “Roger, we’re not selling near enough pizzas in major market X because team X is terrible. We need more fan engagement to sell more pizza in market X. Sure thing says Roger. Call goes out from Rogers minion to official crew chief, whose first, second and third best skills are 1. Doing what they’re told. 2. Keeping their mouth shut. 3. Following orders. Who is told. Team X needs to be shown some love this week. Yea sir. Says ref minion. Who calls the ref of the game. And tells him. I’ve got orders for you. Team X needs love. Team X gets love.
No accountability.
@@user-ge9oc1wq3fI got fired as a ref because I refused to play favorites so your point is true
My brother always said, "when the Browns starting getting the bad calls in their favor, that's when you'll start hearing outrage from the national media". 😂
So true. Nobody nationally batted an eye for the last 23 years when these calls routinely went against Cleveland. I’ve been saying for years that officials can affect outcomes. Well, the better the Browns do, the lower the 1st round pick is for the Texans.
They can’t have the Browns look bad after giving the predator a second chance and blowing all that money.
This is why its NOT a conspiracy, there is zero money to be made by artificially making Cleveland good, trust this coming from a Browns season ticket holder. We have a decent brand in Ohio, but no one else cares, even the Steelers have a national fan following, they have won 21 straight on MNF, that's where I would look for special treatment if its happening. Trust me, it's not in Cleveland, those refs yesterday were just bad.
No receiver in the history of football is making a play on that ball, this officiating is criminal.
Is that how it should be judged though.
Cause what if the QB decided to release the pass & sail the ball higher so that a DB couldn't come down with it.

Love that Pat’s calling this out. It won’t get fixed until the NFL is pressured to fix it. It’s bad for football to let sketchy reffing continue
Nah, they’ll just cancel him if he ruffles too many NFL feathers.
It's not the refs either, it's the bookies. It's legalized organized crime. People will stop watching if they think the games are rigged.
Too bad that one of Pat’s biggest sponsors happens to be one of the reasons the officiating will only get worse. As long as gambling companies make up 60% of official league sponsorships, they will hold sway on league affairs… including games.

Yeah that's the one thing nobody ever brings up... The refs...
Having the balls to cry about the right calls
Are you saying those calls are correct?
Do it in the chiefs games where the refs are the worst about giving the chiefs the game
All these so called good teams don't speak up cuz it's giving their teams win. Most of these records would be different if the refs actually did their job right.
How is the DB suppose to cover the WR if the WR can just turn and run into him and force the DB to commit a "penalty"?
That's why the DB is the hardest position
@@jackie8020don't grab his arm
@@jgriff444exactly
They are supposed to play the ball. It is more about paying attention and body control. If the WR stops running and reaches behind you, turn your body some and look for the ball. Keep a hand on them when you do, so you can feel if they start running again. Also, make sure that hand is not holding an arm down or yanking on a jersey. If the DB plays it right, they are in the best position to intercept.
The problem is most of these knuckleheads just run directly into the WR's chest and never attempt to turn around.
@@jackie8020absolutely correct.
Whether it’s rigging or conflict of interest, refs definitely have biased to certain teams and try to give them the upper hand. Just this last weekend I got called for pass interference (which is wasn’t) on a 4th and goal pass attempt that was uncatchable. The QB was literally throwing the ball away, just in the direction of my WR. Guess what, we found out after that game that one of the refs had a younger brother who was the backup quarterback for the team we were playing against.
It wasn't just this past weekend, it was last weekend too. What about the holding on waller that wasn't called on the bills and giants game? The legal hit by Gipson on the receiver for the browns? The head coach for Minnesota getting caught twice on camera, once telling his TE to go down to get a free time out. And the second telling the ref to look at his receiver and there was a holding call that gave Minnesota a first down.
Something is stirring up in Seattle I don't like to see. Players are going up to refs at the beginning of games n telling them to watch #14.(D.K.Metcalf). Players are quitting on the play so that D.K. goes to block them n they go to the ground for penalties. Watch the one game, D.K. has been penalized before the week or so before, and literally says something to the player before he puts both hands on him in the chest n the guy goes down like a sack of potatoes. ....we're not soccer, this is the NFL, this crap has to be removed from the game.
Pat needs to make this a regular segment on the show until the NFL Officiating (and NCAA for that matter) start to take notice and show some responsibility.
You can find the refs helping KC late in the 4th literally every week. It's beyond coincidence at this point, something is up
PM and Mike Florio are the loudest critics of the refs in the NFL. Y'all should band together and make even more noise until it gives Goodell an ulcer the size of the eastern seaboard.
I agree. The refs are human, they make mistakes, nobody is perfect, especially when these players move at the speed they do, however with that being said I think missed calls, or controversial plays should be reviewed, just like they do with the red flag, when they miss a catch or a drop. calls and missed calls should be reviewed and reversed, because of the human element, especially in a playoff game or Superbowl.
The refs have been horrible for the last few years and it's getting worse. Hold them accountable.
and betting is getting way more involved lol
Especially at the end of the last 2 Super Bowls. The question is...Who will get jobbed at the end of this year?
They are held accountable. But when you pay them peanuts there's not much to account for. I'm sure players would be willing to take a pay cut to improve the quality, right? Yeah, sure.
@@plmn93 How are they being held accountable?
@@andrewbrorherton6898 They're graded on every play. The officials with the best grades are eligible for the postseason, or in the case of college, the biggest games. Only the best qualify for the Super Bowl. Officials with the worst grades lose their jobs.

I disagree, poorly paid refs? They make $200k for a part time job for working one day a week for what 6 months? I’ll do that job full time for that pay for 6 months.
Pat thank you for talking about these calls, it’s about time these refs get investigated for these calls.
Here's the deal:
As a Browns fan of 10+ years, I have seen time and again the refs screw us over in the most unimaginable ways week in and out. This season we have already experienced it, with the Amari Cooper "out of bounds" call, missed helmet to helmet hits, and an array of just phantom holds and weird no-calls.
We need to call a spade a spade, this is not the Browns getting "special treatment" (we never do), this is clearly an issue with the refs as it has been blatant this year and last all around the league. The league quickly needs to establish better transparency in a time where they are more pro-betting than ever.
Also, a win is a win, and we haven't had a ton of those in The Land
I agree. Its getting bad. A few weeks ago Amari Cooper got totally robbed of a touch down because they said he went out of bounds when he was clearly in bounds by at least a foot. It wasn't even close.
I was as confused as Amari was after that. And the ref was literally right by the catch!

This shoiuld have been done a long time ago when there were actual bad calls. Like when the refs stole the game from the Browns on Christmas Day in Green Bay when they didn't call PI when DPJ was clearly held. Browns and Baker could have beat Rodgers and went to the Playoffs. Thank you for this. I am a Colts fan at the game & the amount of rage I have over this is off the charts. Pat's points stand. It was an absolute chess match by two great coaches and some outstanding big plays by both teams. Rather than the talk being about the Browns or Colts winning a true battle- it's now about these awful calls. No ref makes those calls at the end of a game. Let the players decide the game. I have seen plenty of games where the Browns had games stolen as well. Reffing has been undeniably horrid and only gets worse.

I don’t get why the NFL doesn’t have sky judges or the refs working full time for the league so they can only focus on the NFL. It’s such an easy fix but Goddell can’t do anything right. I try not to be a “blame the refs” guy but this has gotten ridiculous with ticky tac penalties in crucial situations.
We tried making Pass Interference reviewable a few years ago and how'd that go? Almost none were overturned even when some should've been.

Remember when the Panthers hugged Gronk a few years ago in the back of the end zone so he couldn't break towards a ball that hit the turf at the front of the end zone, and there was no pass interference because that was deemed uncatchable?
That immediately popped into mind because of the "it has to basically land in the stands to be uncatchable" explanation given here.
I watched the Eagles game and was pretty surprised to see that the Eagles didn’t have any penalties, but then I started seeing some pretty blatantly missed calls. To the point where it would have made the game much closer than it was if they were called. The NFL is preventing some memorable games from happening due to bad refs.
The great thing is that there’s enough data that can be used to see if there’s a correlation between the rise in bad ref calls and the rise in sports gambling.
It wouldn’t imply causation, but it would be interesting to view the outcome. And yes, if there’s dirty refs then the game is being scripted by the refs.
Clearly you didn't watch the game lol. Multiple penalties called on the eagles they just offset because dolphins also committed penalties on the same play. Why not just be honest? If you were you would admit the league has been allowing OTs to line up illegally and false start for about 5 to 10 years now to try and protect QBs. It wasn't some profound view you had of bad officiating. Just everyone suddenly cared about it because they wanted the Lions to win and they hate the Chiefs.

I agree that same thing happened during the 49er game
What I don't get is why, in these huge game changing calls, these refs constantly make the decision in 3 seconds. Like can we just review these huge calls to make sure they're correct? Are we scared of taking our time to get it right? We definitely don't rush things when it comes to running as many commercial breaks as possible, so why referee decisions? That's what really bothers me.
If it were the chiefs or eagles those calls would have never even of been thought of being thrown
Dude we in Cleveland get shafted every year, we’re due a few calls finally! Let’s go browns!!
Agree, refs weren't helping the Browns with that first down chain marker against the 49'ers even though we won that could of been a game changer..

I like how on the “illegal contact” play, Amari Cooper clearly initiates the contact and pushes off. I also like how the “illegal contact” happened after the ball left Walker’s hands. How do you miss that?
And of course, the pass interference call (which was also ticky tack) had a ball that landed 10 yards out of bounds. Back to back plays. Never seen anything like it.
I’m assuming this is a troll comment but
1) the illegal contact was attempting to grab/hug Amari’s leg. It clearly happened before Walker threw it and you can see Walker pull the ball down the second it happened. It was called because illegal contact occurred and it clearly had a direct impact on the play
2) Do you really think a NFL wide receiver can’t catch a ball 10 feet in the air? That’s a catch that has been made by plenty of players before. According to the rules it’s not uncatchable b/c the wr was knocked down and never given the chance to jump for it.

@@quay-da-minion9520Wake up, had the terrible PI not been called on Gibson, the Browns wouldn't have scored and the 49'ers wouldn't have been put in the position to have to kick the game winning field goal in the first place. Why are the Browns, Eagles, Chiefs getting special treatment? Aren't these teams great? If so, drop the crap and call the game fairly/correctly.
@@-RiZeN- The Browns getting "special treatment"...... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Cry babies, cry, now you know how it feels!
Saints fans will NEVER forget the no call 😒
"Absolutely..... BAM Boozled!"
"OHH MY GAWD!"
5:47 I didn't know Pat McAfee was a yinzer from the Picksburgh area! 😂
Ref's did the same for the Browns vs 49ers.
Miami Philly game was super shady aswell... Vikings were absolutely screwed against KC and Philly it's been super suspicious this year with the favorable calls for the favorable team's...
12 penalties against Miami and ..... 0 against Philadelphia hmm nothing to see just move along... these refs are running the show and making $$$$$
I’m so glad this is documented cause the Colts DEFINITELY got BAM-BOOZALED!!
Payday at the O’Day house!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, NFL should look towards the XFL. They had quick and efficient calls and reviews, and best part, fired people directly after a game after a blown call. They Rook responsibility unlike the NFL
The refs in the xfl were mic’d up as well.
Its insane how the XFL does reffing 200x better than the NFL, who has infinitely more resources
@@usernamepersonperson4376 think about that, with all the resources they must want this chaotic officiating
Absolutely robbed the Colts! I’m still stunned at the illegal contact! The game was over. Travesty
@gobrowns2509You can't shove off a defender. The NFL has already admitted the calls were wrong. No argument here.
@gobrowns2509 ...can't catch what can't be caught either
The same 2 calls happened back to back on the Browns final drive the week before against my Niners also!!! NFL has their hands in the games!!! BS!
I appreciate you calling out the league and it's officiating
The refs this season are giving the replacement refs a run for their money. That Niners-Browns game last week and the refs in both college and nfl this week were truly ATROCIOUS
The refs in the dolphins eagles was ridiculous as well the dolphins didn’t get a single call all game while the eagles got everything. Jet fan but watching that game was ridiculous. That Iowa call is straight up criminal though good god
Remember when everyone in the NFL wore masks and played in empty stadiums and only Aaron Rodgers pointed out how weird it was? What was that about?
PREACH
That Iowa game was definitely rigged once they saw he didn’t step outta bounds they went with a back up call
Let's not forget Bottle Gate for the Browns where the refs reviewed the previous play after another play was run. Then after starting a civil riot, just called the game with a minute left, on a game with playoff value. All time low....
while I agree that was awful, at the time that happen 8 out of the 10 commercials weren't from gambling sites like they are now.
@@jodyfoster9278 Like the mob didnt influence game outcomes back then.. LOL
@@chaunceyg5657 Not saying games were not influenced but now the NFL is sponsor by gambling openly
Do this every week... This is what its going to take
Bravo Pat
There has been numerous blown calls all year! At this point there needs to be replay on everything
As a browns fan all my life, the end of the game against the colts game was SUSPECT!
Hey as an Iowa fan, at least people are taking about us
After watching the doc about Tim Donaghy, I learned the leagues can affect outcomes of games via officiating.
The “script” for the NBA wasn’t a set of story turns given to players, it was telling officials what rules to selectively enforce. Donaghy and the other officials ultimately just did what they were told. This is evidenced by the fact that by the NBA’s metric Donaghy was the second most accurate official in the league while he was betting and winning 80% of those bets.
I believe this to be true for the NFL. After watching Bears Steelers two years back, I was convinced. The announcers talked about how the Bears were the only franchise the Steelers had never beaten at the beginning of the game and they presumed the Bears would lose. Then during a late comeback as Fields and the Defense were making an unlikely comeback the officials took over the game. One literally walked into a linebacker and then threw a flag on him. It was right there in the open. They got the Steelers the win.
As an american who loves both football and rugby, the nfl needs to incorporate something rugby has. When theres a penalty that a ref needs to review, the viewer at home gets to listen in on the conversation between the ref and the reviewer. That would easily solve any skepticism and make everybody feel better cause its real time. Its not gene talking about it after the fact
Thanks for pointing out bad calls. It's very clear there's corruption in professional sports. It needs to be called out.
Totally happening here and there. Someone else was talking about result altering calls at the end of games being more prevalent this weekend too. Just because corrupt refs would be earth shattering doesn't mean it can't be true!
The same thing happened the week before with SF vs the Browns.
Rugby does this really well where 2 “TV” refs sit up in the booth watching monitors, in the stadium, and can have the game stopped.
When the NFL put the ref daddies in NYC, instead of at each game, it’s the same bs where those officials never want to be overruled by someone who isn’t on their team and they don’t eat dinner with.
That’s what the pass interference review was never going to work.
We were at that game. Definitely bad back-to-back calls. It didn't help that Gardner turned the ball over 4 times. But man, when we thought the strip-sack was the end of the game, the crowd went nuts. Then I saw the flag and I went "oh no!" What a heart-wrenching loss. And Watson was cleared to play the game after he went in for a concussion check. He was cleared to go back in but didn't. Wow!
I was watching at home, I'm sure there were plenty of chirps like this in the stands but on that 3rd play where the Colts punched the ball out to prevent the td catch I was like "OH IS THAT PI TOO? WHAT'RE YOU GONNA CALL ON THAT ONE?"
As for Watson's injury, when he went down on the field he was pointing at the same shoulder he has had issues with in the past, idk why they tested him for a concussion but he cleared that and it was the coaches that decided to keep him out to protect his shoulder. I was half expecting to see him run out there when they were trying to force their way into the end zone or maybe for the 2 point try
The illegal contact call was correct. The pi was defensive holding. Both were penalties
@@Eye_own_uholding doesn’t put the ball at the 1 yard line to win them the game so incorrect call still changes the game. HOLD THE REFS ACCOUNTABLE!
@@Eye_own_unah one can say it was offensive pass interference with the “illegal contact” literally throws the DB to the ground.
2023 NFL Script that was posted like, idk, 7 weeks ago: “The Browns?.. WIN.”
That Iowa Game was all I needed to win and Under for $3,157 after every other leg checked.
Colts got screwed. I just hope the Browns thanked the refs after the game for bailing them out.
How can the NFL continue to fix games when people like Pat Mcafee are blowing up their spot & making the block hot? Pat’s breaking kayfabe and not doing what’s good for business
Word! This is a display of EPIC INTEGRITY
You both are drunk. Go home!
There has to be accountability and investigation. 100% this was disgusting and frustrating
The same thing happened last week against the 9ers which led the Browns to win also. 2 terrible TERRIBLE calls in a row that led to the Browns scoring and winning. It’s a travesty
Hey maybe if the 49ers Made a 41 fg you 49er wouldn't be crying 😂😂
Browns have got fucked with terrible calls for years. We finally catch a break and everyone bitches. Cry
@@RaccoonFederation007I’m actually a panther fan. So I know what getting screw by the refs against the browns is like first hand
