Sandy, did you wire wrap those pendants? I was instantly attracted to them! If so, could you do a video on that technique?

+Delia Furrer You'll find directions for those wire wrapped pendants in Abby Hook's book, Wire Jewelry Masterclass.

I'm hoping you can help. I am quickly running out of money to spend on wire, well have run out of money, and now I'm running out of credit, I'm trying to find wire I can use with a metal hammer where the coating doesn't come off. I search for uncoated, anodized, bare wire and still it seems the color comes off when I hammer it. I want the basic colors, bronze, copper, gold, silver, and would love a black, but I assume all black wire is painted or coated. Can you tell me which wire you use? I just need to buy one brand that I can flatten with a hammer. Thanks so much! i LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BY THE WAY, i'VE WATCHED SO MANY IN THE PAST 24 HOURS AND i'M (oops) I'm continuing to watch. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

      Hi Donna,
Thanks for letting me know you are enjoying my videos! :-)
I would say that most coatings on wire are going to come off if you hammer them.
Your best bet is bare wire, such as bare copper. As the name says, it's bare solid copper, without any coating, so when you hammer it, there's nothing to come off.
Often wires with silver (and other precious metals) are "plated" or "filled." Plating is a thinner coating of silver around a copper core, filled is a thicker amount of silver around a copper core. Depending on how much hammering you do, the copper may show through.
If you really need specific colors on hammered wire, you may want to consider adding the colors after hammering, such as with Vintaj Patinas, see this video for more details: th-cam.com/video/NxStO86BXcs/w-d-xo.html
      Hope this helps, happy creating!

@@SandyHuntress YES! Thank you so much for going through all of this. I was trying to find definitions of the wire and was getting so confused. That's how I learned the word 'anodized', lol. Again, thank you for your time. I've been binge-watching your videos. :) I don't need a certain color, but thought if I could find gold or bronze that would stay that color would be nice.
