I prefer Hulk being more of a mindless freak of science. I think Hulk would be better as a horrific monster, and then have Bruce Banner be the tragic hero. The idea has been played with in most versions of Hulk but generally the mainstream take of Hulk is a misunderstood creature.
I think the ultimate universe had the potential to pull this off, but unfortunately they made Bruce Banner hard to sympathize with, therefore it's all monster with no tragedy.
I never understood why Wolverine getting ripped in half was seen as some great feat of strength. I mean Wolverines BONES are coated in Adamantium NOT his ligaments and spinal cord itself. Those parts are just as weak as any outer part, so pulling him in half is just a matter of tearing muscle and sinew, NOT BONE. Unless one is expected to believe Adamantium is both super hard and super flexible at the same time...Which it is not.
Yeah, while Spider-man isn't weak he can easily rip 616 Wolverine in half in the black suit, while the Symbiote buffs him the way he casually does it implies that classic Pete could also manage.
Hero Stratus its the part of the bones that keep him together.

Imo the Ultimate Avengers animated movie did him so much better. His origin was exactly the same but Banner and Hulks personalities are changed. Bruce isn't jealous and petty. He has horrific depression and beyond overworked from creating serums and you can hear in his voice that he's tired of living. Suppressing the hulk has absolutely drained him. Then when he turns into hulk, he has control temporarily but once he starts fighting, he loses his mind and turns on the avengers in uncontrollable rage. No cannabilsm whatsoever. He straight up pounds the avengers, all by himself, into next week. And its one of the best fights I've ever seen in any movie. Highly recommend the Ultimate Avengers movie

Not to mention 616 Hulk basically won against Ultimate Hulk by a landslide.

There is a strength chart somewhere that shows all the Ultimates are a lot weaker (15 ton range) because they were trying to reign in the 100X ton class stuff. The Thing in the ultimate comics just kept getting stronger, changing forms at will and fighting wayyyyy higher level enemies than normal with no issue. I miss that universe, good times.
I don't think you remembering those fights exactly right ultimate hulk hadn't been around long enough to have the same feats as 616 hulk but believe me he's every bit as strong they said he could hold up the pressure of the entire ocean in ultimate human Read that and he adapts to anything regular hulk doesn't do that I'm telling you ultimate hulk it may take him a little bit longer to get to that level of rage but once he snaps completely he could go toe to toe with any hulk He's also bigger than 616 hulk@@maxxgunner5573

I have mixed feelings about ultimate hulk, one of the first hulk comics I read was the one where he was in peace and ripped wolverine in half. I always thought the whole canibalism thing was like a rarity and he would only due it if he was severely pissed of beyond belief as wolverine was being a pretty big jerk in that one. But ultimate does it way too often and it makes him a bit to monstrous. Smashing so,some is one thing but literally eating People on a regular basis is over stepping it. His design is all well and good but his jeleaously and other negative emotions make him someone I can't really really relate to unlike 616 hulk where no matter how violent he gets you usually can understand where he's coming from and feel for him. This one is kinda an asshole
I'm starting to look down upon the ultimate universe, it's versions of the character look cool for sure but they seem not only worse in character most of the time but also have their powers relatively nerfed.
I mean the ultimate universe is known for turning everyone to assholes besides Spider-Man who I actually liked as much or more than 616 Spider-Man as he was mostly the same

Alright let me clarify, he ment that ultimate gray hulk which has the super soldier serum in him, is stronger than ultimate green hulk which is how he started off as. At no point in time (excluding when ultimate hulk had the infinity gauntlets) was ultimate hulk stronger than 616 hulk.

Because Mark Millar thinks it will make his comics more realistic, and cool. He’s like another of those comic book writers who tried to be the next Alan Moore.

they should call this hulk "incel hulk". the cannibalism part seems unnecessary, but if his body needs proteins then that's probably why he eats people. I like the ultimate hulk, i don't why, i just do and his color scheme and designs seems more appropriate than the hulk from the 616 universe but ultimate hulk motivates and backstory are just horrible. The 616 hulk has a much better history than the ultimate one.

Hulk encounter spider-man before the events of ultimates 1 which referenced in the same story. The story of that encounter was in ultimate team up.

The Ultimate universe is so screwed up that Cap is seen as a old fashioned and offensive guy for not being okay with incest, and Hulk eating people is a turn on for his love interest.

Believe it or not the Ultimate Universe (as well as Ultimate Hulk) had an influence in the MCU.
The Incredible Hulk got its influence from the Ultimate Universe. As and as a tribute to the Ultimate Hulk Edward Norton's Bruce Banner threw himself off a helicopter to transform into Hulk was taken directly from Ultimates vol 1, issue 12.
