I have morel dreams too! Just during morel season though. I read an article by someone who claimed they slept better during morel season because every time they closed their eyes they just imagined scanning the forest floor for morels.

I like the passion how you talk about the dreams :) I also dream about mushrooms sometimes - mostly about ceps but also morels or scaber stalks :))

I don't know why it's always morels for me. It might be because we often hunt for hours where we're looking so hard that we don't even blink.

I got into some perfect little white puffballs this year down here in Jackson county, and it was completely like an easter egg hunt. That's what morels have always felt like too. Great video brother.

Nice, they're good in hot pot! Years ago I went down to Applegate area in the winter and found some black trumpets. We don't get them up north here. I have to go back sometime. I know it's great there for morels too.

@@NorthwestGigabyte I come at fungi through a side door, couldn't ever find enough of the really fascinating ones as a kid in the 90s so I sent away for some spores had to have them shipped and reshipped to get the saddest print you ever saw, but after nearly a year I got my first successful fruit body and was off to the races, but talk about dreams of having them work, or giant flushes... Also still occasionally have dreams where I stumble across one of those legendary patches of coastal LBMs, it never goes away!

I have picked morels the next year after a burn I don't care for those they actually have a smoky flavor and are gritty I'm having a hard time finding very many morels this year but it's still early thank you for the video

    Great video,
I thought it was hilarious about your dreams- I get the same ones! Finding them in strange places too and it's always just morels. I wonder what it is about them. So funny!

Also, what do you look for in an area to hunt for natural morels in the mountains? I have only ever looked for them/found them in burns and riparian areas.

That's so crazy that someone else has the dreams too. To me morels are kind of like level 2 or 3 of mushroom hunting. They're so easy to miss. Where Chanterelle are more beginner level/obvious. I know sometimes we cook some food on a jetboil and after 10 minutes of sitting one of us looks over and we've been sitting by a morel the whole time!

@@shelbyhurwitt7258 I would watch my other video. th-cam.com/video/lKUt-A2MEg0/w-d-xo.html or in short look for grand fir trees and be well on the east side of the cascade crest.

@@NorthwestGigabyte Thank you Ryan! I watched the other video. We are located on the west side of the cascades (Corvallis) at the moment, but will have to try to go out that direction before the season is over.

How high the elevation, which month of 2022. Oh man, you forgot to bring a knife foraging mushroom?
