@@RobertFisher-nt8hf my guess is a basket style net he can drop down from pier. Cutn line with hook in them still may be safest route since all those saltwater fish are toothy creatures. Hook will rust out eventually and fish lives on.
I hope that fishing line is braided wire otherwise the line is going to snap. The fishing rod is so amazingly strong that I doubt it'll even crack under pressure.

He had it way too tight, plus then he stopped it from "dragging" (let's the fish swim out, pulling line out with the fish, putting less tension on the line and the rod) He's lucky that the rod or the line didn't snap, or that he didn't get yanked into the drink. I remember chatting a 8.5 foot 110 pond sail fish. Took me an hour to land it. I was so pumped I never felt the pain till the next day, and I could not lift my arm high enough to scratch my nose. But it was worth it.

I was born in Dunedin and lived in Clearwater most of my life- I've fished the Skyway lots of times, and I've seen 15ft. Hammerhead sharks swimming underneath that very spot!!! Nice fish!

Saw a big Hammerhead on the Skyway back in the 80s night fishing with my friends, swam right under my lanterns. Some folks call him Ole' Hitler
