In the winter of 1998 I worked for Yorkshire Traction bus company based in Huddersfield. I had to the first run of the day from Holmfirth bus station to Penistone in a small Micro-Rider bus. The route was more or less what you did in this vlog, only up Cinderhills Road was covered in black ice. That was probably the scariest bus drive I did. It wasn't the wheel spinning and skidding that was particularly bad, it was more the fear of sliding backwards uncontrolled in a bus down a very steep icey hill with cars parked and other road obstacles. I only did that route once as I refused to do it again the next two times as I deemed it too dangerous. We do have some particularly beautiful countryside around here to ride, drive and sometimes walk in don't we......
I rememeber those days well running about in the snow and ice in those townlink buses. That's something I don't miss to be honest. Holmfirth was an absolute nightmare in the winter when it snowed, hence why you won't catch me up there when the weather turns. Yes we do have some stunning countryside I agree 👍
Thanks for the ride along again This one was special for me as I live in Florida and I have family in Holmfirth - where I visit as often as I can tho now it’s been yonks ago - so I especially enjoyed the ride up to the Mast and back thru Holmfirth and beyond- all my travels in that location have been by car and next time out gonna try renting a bike depending on weather Enjoying your vids and vlogs and have subscribed - also checked out the helmet by name and it seems to be limited to the UK not here in the USA Regards again from Florida AND keep safe
Your're very welcome. And thanks for your kind words. Now the weather is starting change for the worst here in the UK, I wish I was in Florida 😆 I'll definetely be riding up there a lot more next riding season, it's literally only about 25 minutes from where I live, right on my doorstep and I don't visit enough although that will change. Pity about the helmet not being in the USA, maybe there's an alternative? When you get back over this part of the world get in touch if you manage to rent a bike, we'll have a rideout if you're up for it, and thanks for the sub. Regards and stay safe! 👍
Thanks for sharing, yet more of my stamping ground though not too familiar after the Dunkirk , enjoyed it so much going to have to go to Shipley, Friday, and look at Triumph, Ducati , Honda and maybe BMW. Once again ride safe and see you around , cheers :)
@@gopher1471 thanks for the comment. I enjoyed the ride as I always do. Do the bike browsing, I love doing that. The thing is I usually end up spending! Let me know if you end up buying one! 👍
Morning Kelvin. Thanks for the comment. Yeah it was quite funny that to be honest, we used to get some hilarious incidents on the buses. All in a days work eh 🤣
Morning Paul lovely little bimble around countryside won’t get many more rides this year before winter sets in unless your a all year round rider which I’m not end of march for me to start out again as long as the salt has completely gone can’t wait for part 3 ride safe mate
Morning! I'm not an all year round rider, I hate the winter months with a passion! Plus the fact I'd probably end up with ruined camera gear with the wet weather. I might ride if we get the odd nice day but this country's past record in winter doesn't hold much hope. At least we can look forward to next year's riding and use TH-cam to watch nice weather ride outs 👍
@@paulkiley4667 old horns inn. Might see you there! I love the roads in and out of bradfield theres some very challenging small lanes and twisty bits. Stay safe!
@@artistonamotorbike I'll star that on Google maps so I don't forget! I think I've probably been in that area before in the past, I can't recall. Hopefully see you there for a chat and coffee 👍

Ride these roads all the time. I like heading down to bradfield to the nice pub next to the church. I love the road past winscar reservoir too.
