- The USC Trojans defensive coaching staff is kicking off the 2025 recruting cycle with a BANG, going into the state of Georgia and nabbing players like Justus Terry and Isaiah Gibson from the land of the Bulldogs.
Will Eric Henderson, D'Anton Lynn and this USC staff continue to build a great Big Ten defense?

That linebacker room, sheesh. Can only pray for that level of size, speed, tenacity and skill one day. I think the three starters on the 08 squad had about 120 pounds on the group we fielded last year.

People who are outside the USC family really don’t realize that here at USC it’s always been about our defense. We’ve always been a trench based program. Our national championship teams, yes, had stars on the offensive side but the defenses was stout. We slipped with our coaching philosophy in hiring and now LR gets it. We love our Tailbacks, QB’s and RB’s but if you talk to the fan base, we hate a weak ass defense! ✌🏽

When USC had great Defenses you got #1 USC 35-3 #5 Ohio State score lines.
Big10 Fans been acting like USC doesn't have a history of smacking there conference around over Many decades. Also acting like we don't have 11 National Championships, 8 Hiesmans, And 17 Gold Jackets hanging in Ohio .. The Most of any program in the country
It's gotten ridiculous seeing fans from the SEC and also from the B1G talking sh*t as if we're going to be the same D we've been. It's gonna be hilarious to see the awkward shock from these morons that haven't been paying attention to what SC has been doing since the off-season started.
I think USC defense can be turned around in one year. Look at what Coach Lynn did with fucla in one year. They went from 100 to #11 defense in the country. Lynn now has better players and better coaching staff at USC
Even the players that transferred to fucla played way better.

A couple things…
USC is what the Dodgers and Lakers are to baseball and basketball, everyone hates them but when they are good, they are really good and dominate. So, the fact that the hate has gone up exponentially recently is great!! Historically when we have been good, we have dominated the SEC and our record with the BIG speaks for itself. Even when we were bad we still received plenty of hate but not as much as when we're good.
Secondly, just for BIG fans and rest of college football’s edification; Coach D. Lynn - in one year turned UCLA into the number 3 defense in the nation with a top 10 run defense, with lesser players than USC has now and no Coach Entz, Belk, Henderson, Nua; Coach Entz - Head coach of the 2 time FCS Nat. Champs, he knows how to win but still seeing what he can do on the recruiting trail, proven champion; Coach D. Belk - tremendous recruiter and developer of DB’s; last but definitely not least Coach Henny; developed Aaron Donald as Rams d-line coach and just cleaned up in Georgia with Aaron Donald possibly on staff as an analyst.
Thirdly, after observing comments on this and other pundits, TH-cam channels, I’ve found that most BIG specific personalities have been woefully uninformed about USC and that’s fine but hopefully this info helps. Many of BIG fans that comment are funny at best with their “but defense” dur herrrr herrr…you’re going to learn soon what SC defense is about.
SC will have a top 10 defense top 5 run defense and vying for the top run defense in the BIG this year. My biggest concern is our o-line and whether they can create a punishing run game to keep teams off balance so Moss can carve up the defenses. If the o-line has a physical punishing run game its lights out!
Finally, now that its the wild west with NIL, USC activated a very well funded NIL so Oregon shouldn't have that advantage anymore.

In think a lot of these B1G channels/fans that are really having to delve into SC have superficial twitter knowledge of them. Even the past 2 seasons we have beat a lot of good teams with a depleted roster. Utah beat us 3 times…2 last second kicks and once Williams hurt, we beat az last year, 1-1 with ND, beat Oregon st in the road, destroyed Louisville.
SC is pushing the mid B1G’s to the bottom and will be in the top 4 every year

Everybody is worrying about how USC's defense will match up against BIG 10 offenses. My question is, who is going to stop USC's offense ? What BIG 10 team can score 42 points a game?. Maybe Ohio St. Thats all.

First off , Thank You Big 10 for allowing us to join such an Elite Conference! We were a school searching for a home, and we found it. Secondly, it is our goal to make all in our new conference proud of how we can contribute to the overall collective greatness of "THE BIG". Lastly, future success depends on great coaching, and great recruiting. If we are at least on par with the Penn State, Iowa , Ohio State, Michigan, programs, then we have a chance. "FIGHT ON BIG 10"

The Staff is on Fire!! The excitement is off the charts! This is starting to remind me of when HC Pete Carroll started to really get recruiting going and it was the Defensive side of the ball where those changes happened first.

It's an exciting time to be a Trojan fan, that's for sure. USC has all the makings to be a top Big Ten team in the future, Id expect this year to be a bridge to a potentially huge 2025.

USC has traditionally had a strong defense. It was just a matter of time before they revert back to their roots.
Also, remember the days when people like Will Ferrell and Snoop Dogg were standing on the sidelines when we were winning multiple championships and had a great vibe on and off the field. Those days are back. Just the other day in practice we had people like Aaron Donald, Ronnie Lott, Matt Leinart, and other Trojan greats Hanging out.

Washington was considered elite and they looked below average vs Michigan
@treyabbey6477 I wouldn't use that game as a barometer. Bc to me it was a alot of calls that help in those critical moments that changed the game for Michigan. So, I don't necessary use that game. Also, Michigan had alot of 4 and 5th year players. As a whole they don't.

Yes, SC will be in the top half of the conference for D but will need at least 1-2 more seasons to develop prior to being a top 20 D and that's assuming they retain the staff that long
Top 5/6 Big Ten Ds are ohio st, Penn st, Michigan, Iowa, and I'd say Oregon or Nebraska maybe USC can be 7th or 8th which is kinda middleish. Probably be 3rd or so on offense though.
SC has smacked around the B1G quite a bit throughout time. As much as I hate Ohio State, can’t say I’m not excited to see the West Coast team up with the northerners to take down the SEC

Brett, seems you have been living in a cave and not noted the new staff, recruiting and portal....that's before the Spring portal opens, aside from some of the defensive staff changes in the conference (UM, PSU.....) that have yet to be proved out. But continue to under estimate them, that's the way we like it
USC is gonna have a top 30 defense this year. Lincoln Riley had a wake up call this past season and this new staff is up to the task

USC beat Penn State in the grand daddy of them all without a top defense. A Penn State that fielded arguably one of the best QB/RB duos that if not football for sure Penn State has ever fielded. So let's just be honest is it that the big10 has good defenses or do they just lack true power offenses? The only teams that are somewhat balanced in the big10 are the top 3 and even then Penn State is not recognized as having a top offense regularly. It will be a good season and definitely something to look at.
Michigan lost too much from their coaching staff & players. They will not beat USC. Outside of Ohio State & Oregon, USC will beat the rest of the BIG 10 opponents this upcoming season.
Even if our new brace of coaches improve our D 30 places, we'll STILL have the 89th worst defense in America. 7-5 at best.

Love the Big Ten and its members. But I must say I am looking forward to the day that USC gets to play Iowa. Kirk Ferentz will rue the day that he used Lincoln Riley and USC as an example of how not to coach and play football.

I'll say this... USC has the schedule to get into the CFP with a 9-3 record. Lets say they lose to LSU, Penn State, Michigan. They would still be 7-2 in Big Ten play with wins over potentially ranked Wisconsin, Nebraska, Notre Dame teams (TBD on Washington) .
