We absolutely love our iRobot Roomba. I don't know why we waited so long to buy one. With our dark hardwoods, we were sweeping a few times a week. Now, we never sweep. Needless to say, we were very sad when our Roomba (we call it Christina) stopped charging. I did a little bit of reading a quickly found several possible issues. As always, I went with the easiest fix first and it worked!

For me my charger keeps unplugging or sum but I think it's plugged in but it's not charging my irobot

I work at customer support and one of the first things i always say is to clean the contacts, sorry they told you otherwise, what number did you call?

I cleaned my contacts with a damp cloth -- no change. But the Mr Clean trick did the job! I wouldn't have thought that scum was so sticky...

My roomba 690 won't work. When docked on to charger, charger lamp comeson on the charger, clean green light blinks and charging battery blinks red. This goes off after sometime a na na na na beeps. Same cycle repeats again and again. All the contacts are cleaned. Have no idea if battery is charged charging or bad.
You’re a life saver. I had ordered a new battery for my roomba and was waiting for it to arrive, should’ve looked on here first to see the easy solution

Thank you. We cleaned the contacts, but apparently not enough. We used alcohol -- but needed the big guns of the magic eraser. We have two dogs... and this little vacuum is a God-send for us.

Thank you! This worked perfectly. And since I didn't have a Magic Eraser handy, I just used an ordinary kitchen sponge and a little water, and put some elbow grease into it. And it worked!

Thanks so much! That fixed the issue. I suspected that it wasn’t making contact and I cleaned them with a dry cloth. I used the magic eraser as you suggested & that was the ticket . Works perfectly.

jesus... the TINIEST bit of gunk prevents the charge... the TINIEST. Literally a tiny bit of black gunk on one of the chargers prevented charging of my Roomba.. thank you for showing me this. I appreciate it so much.

I don't have any Mr. Clean Magic Erasers on hand, so before running to the store I decided to try it with a clean rag and some rubbing alcohol. It worked just fine. Thanks for this video!

Thanks man. This is exactly what I needed. Some lady tried to scam me by charging me $90 for a $400 Roomba because it wasn’t charging and she didn’t know how to fix it but she advertised that it was working perfect and never told me it wasn’t working properly. So I watched the video, Cleaned the contact points and BAM! Charging perfectly. If only she would of did a small amount of research. Her “scam” ended up giving me a homerun of deal.

Omg i was about to search for new batteries for my roomba I had a 1st gen roomba that would need batteries replaced in the end I bought a new one and when it started no to charge I got frustrated figured oh well thats that! Thanks for the video! My vacuum and charging station looked clean, so I did everything but clean it to get it to charge. No success. Finally, I cleaned it, and it worked. Learned my lesson. Don't trust your eyeballs. If someone says something works, give it a try.

i read a comment and that actually fixed mine. It was the tiny bit of dirt on the contacts! First thing. I had already wiped with my finger before and figured they were "clean enough". But? Nope. I took some rubbing alcohol and wiped them off. Indeed, those specs of "dirt" actually made it glitch and not charge properly. GREAT!!!
