Yeah, my first time I had a speed loader was from a winchester can and was out with some freinds... I never understood how to use it because that was my first time using one, felt like a giant idiot 😂😂😂 after my 4th attempt I said f*** this and just started hand loading mags... 😅😅😅

Yeah, never bend the tabs first, it doesn't do anything or make it any harder to strip. Never put first round in by hand either and I've loaded more than my share, both in the Army and after.

That mentality is going to get you killed. Until you have real experience, you're nothing but a liability who should have no confidence in handling a gun.
You don't need to bend the tabs, remove one round, or put it on a table. Just put the stripper clip on the loader, and press the magazine against your chest using the top of the rounds. The tab will bend out of the way and all the rounds will slide into the magazine perfectly every time.
@oliverrahn7274 was wondering why no one said use your thumb. I don't think I'm that strong either it is very fast and takes little effort to use your thumb, I've never seen it done against your chest, but that sounds like a bruise on your sternum.
In a 26 year career in the US Army Infantry and SF, not once did I take the first round out or bend down that metal lip. We just crammed it in using a solid surface or hand as the push. Loaded fine. Don’t overthink it.

I learned how to speed load my M16 during army officers' training. There is no need to bend the tongue or use a table edge. Just insert clip into speed loader and push firmly on the ammo and it will load right in. If you're assigned to be the loader for a lot of people then use the table edge to help push after your fingers get sore but never had to bend the tongue down.
In 2006, my Marksmanship coach showed me how to speed load a magazine without the speedloader. I've been doing it every time I've gone to the range since. I have blown the minds of coaches and shooters for 18 years. You can still do it with PMags, I just wouldn't do it with ones I've paid for, or don't have to return to the armory. Also you're wasting your time on that tab. It just requires you use a little bit of strength to get started.
@@pousinboots, sorry I can't record it. There is a lip at the top of the spine on the back of the magazine. Rest the clip on that with the first round barely over the feeder. I place the bottom of mag flat on my sternum rounds pointing down, clip parallel with the deck. I wrapping my index finger around the base of the top round and pull through to my chest, basically riding the clip; putting as close to zero pressure as possible on anything passed that first inch of brass. It takes a bit of practice to get the angles and pressures just right, and it gets harder the closer you get to 30 rounds. That last clip is always a bitch, but it really sucks on PMags.

No. Dont remove a round. Dont bend the tabs. Just put the spoon on the magazine, insert the clip, and push it down with your thumb. Bonus tip: pull the white thread out and you get a 4 magazine bandolier.
The problem is though he's completely correct @@captainchimp. You do not need to bend a tab or remove around to use that speed loader. And yes if you remove the The white string from along the bottom of the bandolier, it turns into a six round magazine pouch that you can turn into an improvised Rhodesian rig.
Having worked many ammo details for range days in my time, I can attest, this is spot on. Only thing I did differently is when you’re loading all the mags for a company size element, I used my thigh on the bottom of the magazine and pushed forward into the table instead of downward. Loading 30rds in 15 seconds or less is great. Wish sport ammo (.223) came in stripper clips for cheap. Great content. 👍
You can buy stripper clips in bulk, and load ammo onto those clips for future use. I get mine from a place called cleanammocans, all my bulk 5.56 goes onto clips

@ST0RMTR00PER_68 I use the same method. Since I load my own ammo, the 100rd boxes is the easiest setup for storage. If your ammo is already stowed in neat 10rd rows, the ETS speedloader is the fastest, easiest system on the market. If you're working with mil spec equipment, this guy's demo is spot on.
I know there’s more than one way to do things and more than one reason to do things, so I’m not saying that what he did was wrong. But we were never taught to put a round in the magazine first, bend out that little metal clip or use the surface of something to push the rounds in, we just used the speed loader and pushed the rounds in with our thumbs. Yep, use your front plate as the table and have the butt of your mag against it. Just gently curve your hand and pull the top round to your front plate. Then once you hit the mag squeeze the guide between your thumb and pointer finger. Get enough practice in and you can fully load a mag in about 4-5 seconds if not faster.
Same. But if you have something like the edge of a table available, it's fatser/easier. Esp if you're loading all the mags for a company range day. ARMY

Learn something new everyday. As a crusty old Marine we were never taught some of those steps. Just put the loader on and jammed the rounds in by hand. Bending the tabs and using a table definitely would have helped haha. Thanks

Pro tip: If you are using a table... skip all that extra BS! Put the loader on the mag, seat the clip, and ram it on the edge of the table and repeat. Too easy.

You don't need to bend the tabs, remove one round, or put it on a table. Just put the stripper clip on the loader, and press the magazine against your chest using the top of the rounds. The tab will bend out of the way and all the rounds will slide into the magazine perfectly every time.
That's how we did it for years.
Or you can just use your thumb it’s not that hard

First of all thank you for your service and thank you for teaching us how to load a magazine with a speed loader be safe out there and come back safe.
In a 26 year career in the US Army Infantry and SF, not once did I take the first round out or bend down that metal lip. We just crammed it in using a solid surface or hand as the push. Loaded fine. Don’t overthink it.
Same. Been on ranges we loaded so many mags the area above my index finger was so sore from loading mag after mag after mag. Love this stuff.
Yeah, but how many privates did you have to deal with that couldn't figure out the most basic tasks? This is a good method for people brand new to the M4 so they don't break something or injure themselves. Gotta treat them like toddlers sometimes.

I only ever loaded a m4 mag with my hands I never knew I could use a speed loader this is amazing
I learned how to speed load my M16 during army officers' training. There is no need to bend the tongue or use a table edge. Just insert clip into speed loader and push firmly on the ammo and it will load right in. If you're assigned to be the loader for a lot of people then use the table edge to help push after your fingers get sore but never had to bend the tongue down.
Yup, anyone who's been on ammo detail more than a few times knows. This guy's method is the exact opposite of "speed loading"😂

In 2006, my Marksmanship coach showed me how to speed load a magazine without the speedloader. I've been doing it every time I've gone to the range since. I have blown the minds of coaches and shooters for 18 years.
You can still do it with PMags, I just wouldn't do it with ones I've paid for, or don't have to return to the armory.
Also you're wasting your time on that tab. It just requires you use a little bit of strength to get started.

@@pousinboots, sorry I can't record it. There is a lip at the top of the spine on the back of the magazine. Rest the clip on that with the first round barely over the feeder. I place the bottom of mag flat on my sternum rounds pointing down, clip parallel with the deck. I wrapping my index finger around the base of the top round and pull through to my chest, basically riding the clip; putting as close to zero pressure as possible on anything passed that first inch of brass.
It takes a bit of practice to get the angles and pressures just right, and it gets harder the closer you get to 30 rounds. That last clip is always a bitch, but it really sucks on PMags.

@robertbickers2481 m855a1 (Emphasis on a1) are not the green tip rounds. The rounds in the video are most definitely m855a1, please just google it. You can tell by the exposed penetrator.
No. Dont remove a round. Dont bend the tabs. Just put the spoon on the magazine, insert the clip, and push it down with your thumb. Bonus tip: pull the white thread out and you get a 4 magazine bandolier.

The problem is though he's completely correct @@captainchimp. You do not need to bend a tab or remove around to use that speed loader. And yes if you remove the The white string from along the bottom of the bandolier, it turns into a six round magazine pouch that you can turn into an improvised Rhodesian rig.

I never took the first round out, and we just used our thumbs to push the rounds in. Worked fine that way for 20 years

Having worked many ammo details for range days in my time, I can attest, this is spot on. Only thing I did differently is when you’re loading all the mags for a company size element, I used my thigh on the bottom of the magazine and pushed forward into the table instead of downward. Loading 30rds in 15 seconds or less is great. Wish sport ammo (.223) came in stripper clips for cheap. Great content. 👍
You can buy stripper clips in bulk, and load ammo onto those clips for future use. I get mine from a place called cleanammocans, all my bulk 5.56 goes onto clips
@@mhymyk4022 that’s good to know. I currently use the plastic storage containers that hold 100rds, 10x10 square, with an ETS speed loader. Works well. Added step to the loading process, so takes more time and prep, but is quick afterward. Thanks for the suggestion.
@ST0RMTR00PER_68 I use the same method. Since I load my own ammo, the 100rd boxes is the easiest setup for storage. If your ammo is already stowed in neat 10rd rows, the ETS speedloader is the fastest, easiest system on the market. If you're working with mil spec equipment, this guy's demo is spot on.

I know there’s more than one way to do things and more than one reason to do things, so I’m not saying that what he did was wrong. But we were never taught to put a round in the magazine first, bend out that little metal clip or use the surface of something to push the rounds in, we just used the speed loader and pushed the rounds in with our thumbs. Yep, use your front plate as the table and have the butt of your mag against it. Just gently curve your hand and pull the top round to your front plate. Then once you hit the mag squeeze the guide between your thumb and pointer finger. Get enough practice in and you can fully load a mag in about 4-5 seconds if not faster.
Same. But if you have something like the edge of a table available, it's fatser/easier. Esp if you're loading all the mags for a company range day. ARMY

Learn something new everyday. As a crusty old Marine we were never taught some of those steps. Just put the loader on and jammed the rounds in by hand. Bending the tabs and using a table definitely would have helped haha. Thanks
mainly bending the tabs is the biggest tip.
Those tabs are pretty insignificant; not like they're made of titanium. They even have a habit of breaking off.

I remember working the ammo point at basic I can’t tell you how many clips we got stuck in mags before we got the hang of these 😂 and nothing is more annoying than that one speed loader that just won’t work at all but still keeps finding its way on to the loading table

If you are using a table... skip all that extra BS! Put the loader on the mag, seat the clip, and ram it on the edge of the table and repeat. Too easy.
