I think I was waitressing that night at Raji's. He gave me a copy of alcoholidays (with the cold hard facts) because I told him I liked his band. I still listen to that record. he was a really nice guy. the world is a little sadder without him. I've served many Budweisers at Rajis we only had bud, coke and sometimes some cheap wine.
Since the “tribute” record was released, it’s very hard to find the original Gaffney versions of these songs on TH-cam- very sad that this is the case. I mean, it’s nice that Alvin wants to capitalize on Gaffney’s genius, but, come on. Who wants to hear Alvin singing Gaffney songs?
We were in track together at Western High School in Anaheim, '65-68. We were cut-ups and loved making fun of our coach. I had lost contact with him until I met him again at our 20 year reunion. That was when he told me had a country band. Rest in peace, Chris!
I still listen to his music all the time. What talent!
