I think it must be THE CHALLENGE, NEW ASPECT OF WORKING OUT THE PRINCIPAL PARTS, LOGISTICS & SORTING OUT THE ENSEMBLE CHANGES ..... since having hit the big time CHRIS RUPP reduced his role from fill tenor and very competent vocalist to LESS SPOTLIGHT .... and less still as Matt left and Austin became the second reason to not be Lead .... followed by TIM who can sing anything in any register ..... finally leaving the group and a second Three Register voice = Adam Chance .... yet Chris is singing in three tenor group / piano & duet etc. Not sure how he figures. Just a motivated individual !
The best thing Chris ever did for Home Free, apart from keeping it going, was leaving, to be replaced by the musical powerhouse that is Adam Chance. Chris wanted the band to continue doing funny skits and novelty songs, and much as they pretend he left to pursue individual projects, there were intense artistic differences. HF management plus several members of the band knew that they would never be more than marginal in the industry if they didn't project a more serious image. It also made more sense to have a second bass rather than a tenor who could just about hit the notes. I also think that as you say, the arrival of Tim and Austin was going to push the whole level of performance up to a point where the old way of doing things, with just one outstanding singer (Rob), wouldn't really work. I mean, can you imagine Brothers in Arms with Chris as second lead? No, me neither.
Jacob, is there any reason other than money for parcelling out chunks of this old interview as if they're new? Btw how come you never questioned why, when Austin could have been better off and more fulfiled artistically by using the intense interest in him after the Sing Off, he turned his back on it?
Hey Patricia! Thanks for the question! Absolutely! This interview is close to 2 years old, but it’s still new to many people. Especially since the original interview is an hour long, I can’t expect most people to watch the full interview, so I find these clips are easier to digest for the viewer! That’s a great question! Unfortunately it didn’t come to mind in the moment
Saw them in Columbus, ga april 4, 2024... They are GREAT, love Austin Brown and all HF!!!!!
Been following you guys since you joined Austin.
Now in 2024 ...... we find ourselves WITHOUT the Great Georgia Tenor ..... on to his own ventures ! Good luck, Godspeed, jj
Great interview :) Thanks for posting these!
Jacob, where is that clip taken from? Where is the rest of the interview? Thanks!
❤❤
