    Hey Chris! If I wanted to sell web design templates. Using premade designs. Could I upload the designs and use customization that are made without going into the code and then use the updated code (after it’s saved) to copy and paste for a client ?

    • @CodewithChristheFreelancer
      @CodewithChristheFreelancer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You could of course use whatever customiser options exist in the theme to modify it. Without touching the code though, you're going to be quite limited.

  • @bane2256
    @bane2256 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I am understanding correctly, a shopify developer creates themes and and apps for shopify stores. A shopify theme dev takes an existing shopify theme and modifies the code where the client requests so, using html, css, javascript, and liquid. An app dev creates apps to expand on the functionality of the client's store. App dev is generally less profitable and more difficult than theme dev. Is this correct? I'm new to the industry and want to make sure I understand things correctly.

    • @CodewithChristheFreelancer
      @CodewithChristheFreelancer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bane. That's pretty accurate - except for the last part. I'd say that App dev can be profitable but it's a matter of finding a client with such specific needs that they would need you to build an app that is not already available on the market. I'd also agree that it's more difficult (or rather, complex) compared to theme development.

    If I modify a theme is it going to remove my codes when them get updated??? If yes how to overcome that?

    • @CodewithChristheFreelancer

      Not sure what you’re trying to say here Pritam. What do you mean by ‘your codes’?

      @@CodewithChristheFreelancer suppose I modified some theme with some html or other php codes like we do....basically I am a wordpress developer I am learning shopify....so I just want to know if we add some additional html or any php code is it going to remove the code if we update the theme ??? Like what happened in wordpress and we use child theme concept to overcome it....do you understand what I am trying to tell you??

    • @CodewithChristheFreelancer
      @CodewithChristheFreelancer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you’ve got the live theme (just like on Wordpress) and then you’ve got the other themes that aren’t yet published. If you edit the live theme, those changes will be live. If you edit any of the other themes, those changes will remain on that specific theme. Does that help to answer your question?

    • @pritam1754
      @pritam1754 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CodewithChristheFreelancer I do understand thar part and thank you very much for the reply....but one more thing suppose there is a live theme whose version is 1.0 and I have done some modifications on that live theme and now some updates come up on that live theme of version 1.2 from the maker of the theme so in that case all of my changes or custom codes that I have added will be removed?

    • @CodewithChristheFreelancer
      @CodewithChristheFreelancer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe that themes get updated automatically so you would need to migrate any changes that the theme developer has made into your live theme if you've made changes that you'd like to keep.
