Buy us a coffee: ko-fi.com/lineriderreview We are aware that we made a lot of the tracks on this list heh. Hopefully we were appropriately critical of each other's tracks, but if you think we're guilty of shameless self-promotion, watch the tracks and tell us why you disagreed with us!
Line Rider Review ive never heard two people sound so pretentious as you. Youre critiquing them based on the music playing in the background and the "story" behind them. Youre everything wrong with modern art!
dylan bear ye but like who cares. unlike most modern art the items in these reviews take an incredibly large amount of time and effort to create, which in my opinion puts this on a pedastol high above anything else that doesn't require the same characteristics. that means to me that critique and bespoke terminoligy is completely justified.
dylan bear what else would they be reviewing? they're reviewing something they're both clearly very passionate abouts and interested in. why throw that out the window just because it's a niche art form?
raffen they're meant to be reviewing the tracks, not the "story", not the music, the track! and using pretentious words in your critique doesnt make you float above us it just made them look out of touch
This is weird. A game from my early childhood that probably should have died like a decade ago has maintained some sort of weird culty community. This is awesome! Keep it up guys! Here's to another ten years of this whacky liney sleddy thing!
I watched the entire "this will destroy you" video, I used it to relax and "meditate." The calm and relaxing sound and video synchronization were not only satisfying but hypnotic.
For me it's incredibly nostalgic to see what has happened - and to see the same names that I used to see on linerider.org as a 12 year old with 2,000 posts. omegalul
When you said "...classic 'TechDawg' style world-building..." I was literally yanked back into 2009 when I first watch TechDawg. And now I'm back after I watched DoodleChaos' viral hit and I realize why I really loved watching these then, with even more appreciation for them now. So thank you for that.
I was just randomly browsing youtube and through the countless numbers of videos it brought me here, for reference, I know nothing about line rider and this is like my second video of line rider, this stuff is pretty weird, at first I was like "Its just a guy on sled" but then I continued watching and now "its not just a guy on a sled, its a message that is portrayed across toward the viewer to make them feel certain emotions" I was going to click away but the way you talked about each and every one of these we just so interesting and kept me watching. I might be overthinking this but yyeeeeaaaaahhhh nice video
The #1 track introduced me to my love for Line Rider, it made me remember the game itself that I first played so many years ago, a long damn time. It introduced me to the creators of the song/album "This Will Destroy You" and I've followed their music ever since. It introduced me to a new form of art that tugs at my generation that is between the points of visual art and art created with technology. It gave me a sense of "Wow..." and that spine tingling, hair raising, feeling that I hadn't gotten from a video in years. Rabid Squirrel created a masterpiece that will be watched for years to come and it will inspire for years to come. If I can take one thing from his creation and share it with you. It's that "No matter how long or difficulty something looks. Always keep going and keep trying, because in the end you will get there."
I don't know how to describe the line rider community. It is at once (in my estimation) pretentious and passionate. I love the content that is created, but I cringe at some of the "art criticism". That said, keep up the good work.
Very nicely done! Without having seen most of these tracks before, I could still follow your thoughts. And you actually made me want to check out some of the tracks included! :)
TBH I want to see more of his Rube Goldberg machines as well. I mean, that's why I subscribed to him about 5 years ago. I'm just glad he introduced me to both communities!
When you made it did you intend it to be interpreted the same as how this guy explained it? Or did you just make it for fun and he looked into it to deep
jweber544 / Hanuman think you could do more pokemon themes? id like to take a trip down nostalgia lane again. possibly using the original gen 3 opening theme?
Met Rabid Squirrel in the fur yesterday in Ljubjana, where he gave a fine lecture/Powerpoint about the history of LR. And Bostjan was there too, great guy!
When Line Rider 2 first came out and I was 10 years old, I made a Ski Jump game in Line Rider. Boosts would take you further depending on how you jumped. I got around 150 comments on the page but never used the site again... :P
We are separate people, so we attempted to place and critique each other's tracks. If you disagree with our choices, please tell us how, and/or which tracks you would have put on this list instead!
Line Rider Review They were cool tracks, I won't argue that. But it looks like you're patting yourselves on the back by adding your own tracks into a Top 10 video. I'm just saying, self congratulating isn't cool.
Line Rider Review Regardless of the fact that you're two separate people, this is one youtube channel that you both work together on. Also, if you're going to put yourselves in your own video, at least try to appear humble by putting yourselves near the bottom. You guys were #1, 3, and 4. I'll give you #6 as there was multiple people involved.
Yusuf Wilcox Sorry, didn't see this gem until OTDE replied. I've seen the tracks, and like I said, they're good tracks. But clearly the point of my comment went right over your head. But that's okay though, everyone has their strengths, yours just isn't paying attention. I have nothing to be insecure about, I don't make tracks. I don't have the time for that.
Re-enlist Today! No you told them to put themselves at the bottom of the top ten cos they made the video... That undermines the point of making an objective list.
Lol people complaining about the reviewer's own tracks being in the video. OTDE and Rapid Squirrel are incredible track creators critically acclaimed and recognized by the rest of the community. They also wanted to push the medium forward by creating thoughtful reviews and accessible curation of the best tracks around, surely a noble endeavour. They've done their best to remain objective and yeah, biases are inevitable, but what do you expect from a community that's small enough that the group of people who are qualified to make these kinds of videos, and the group of people qualified to make tracks in these videos have overlap? What do you want them to do, give up making tracks, give up making these videos, or simply refuse to put their own tracks in these videos for the sake of "objectivity" even though that clearly isn't objective at all since their tracks are fire and deserve to be on this list? These guys are doing great things for the community by making sick tracks AND making good reviews of tracks. Why are you mad at them for doing both at the same time?
Aoife McAndless-Davis rabid squirrel got props from the creator of the game for "this will destroy you." thats not something that happens every drawing. IMHO it is rightfully no. 1.
I watched the entire this will destroy you film because it was just that amazing and I had heard their songs before and it was just completely captivating and goosebump inducing
I watched about 20 minutes of number 1, it evoked many of the same feeling I felt during my play through of “Life is Strange,” given that I had only beaten the game a few days prior.
@@rabidsquirrel117 i left it as a comment under the original video, im not sure how much of it i still agree with but here it is: I view part two as a visualization of a person at the end of their life. Each chord up and down can be seen as the heartbeat, or lifeline of this person. The line itself can be represented as the flow of consciousness. At the start, the music and the lines are pure and freeflowing. Each chord of the song moves the line up and down on cue, allowing life to be sustained. The line is smooth and uninterupted, proving cognizance of this person. Health deterioration is inevitable just like time. We see this happen with the first bits of distortion in the music, so subsequently the lines become slightly jagged and jarring. As time goes on the distortion becomes stronger and more frequent. Heartbeats feel much more insignificant. Halfway through, the first fragmentations in the music occur, putting small but considerable spaces in the stream of consciousness. White noise builds up gradually, eventually overpowering the music. Line spacing increases dramatically. The line points up to heaven. The peak of each chord is now completely insignificant, being overwhelmed by the white noise and distortion. More than half of the stream of consciousness is gone. The heartbeat stops. They are not dead. They cling onto any remnants of the original music they can to stay conscious. It's all in vain. It seems like the line is going to disappear entirely. This is the final moment of their life. The final sound from the original song plays. The line straightens out and returns to having no spaces. They've entered the afterlife. The white noise is isolated. White noise is now the music. Chords become the distortion. They don’t move the line angle up or down anymore, they are only memories. They begin to fade away. The line becomes straighter and straighter until the song ends. This person will forever exist on their straight line through time. No reference point for sadness; no reference point for happiness. I wanna make a cool track but these are all too good! I just kinda experiment through seeing other people's stuff and am going to try and make my first legitimate track paired with a song soon. I played this back in 2009 or something awed by the art but back then I couldn't even make a loop that didn't make bosh fall off.
Hey, as long as you're having fun and making things you like, that's what matters! (Most of the creators of the tracks featured here have been making things in Line Rider for many years)
As monumental as This Will Destroy You was, and as amazing as the amount of care you put into it was, I'm torn between whether or not the scale of the track holds as much entertainment value as something like Dangerous Cargo. Even as someone who would consider himself a LR fanatic, it was really, really difficult to sit through an hour long monstrosity. I don't have the youtube analytics in front of me, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt similarly. So I guess I would pose a question to the viewership, is art still good art if the majority of the audience doesn't see the entire art? Very important must know.

Thanks, though not surprised. Their idea of what makes a good track is completely different on what I think makes a good track. As a result, seeing their own tracks in this top 10 list doesn't surprise me as they have similar aesthetics on what's good and will be naturally biassed towards each others tracks as a result whether they realize it or not. Personally, I think 'This will destroy you is incredibly boring to watch as a whole. Yes it has some very creative sections in it, but the pacing, lack of technical skill required to make a similar track, and the long length of it make it hard for me to sit through it. In that review of my track, they downplayed it a lot due to a lot of the earlier parts of my track being too similar to some old track I've never heard of. Case in point, having 2 manualers with great artistic ability will almost always prefer more manual based tracks, with or without scenery over more quirk based tracks which would tend to have more abstract style scenery, if any at all.
I remember playing line rider on those flash games sites back in grade 4 to 6ish..... I'm in college now (19y) SO WHY THE FUCK IS THIS GAME RELEVANT NOW!!!!!
That's perfectly valid but I would advise giving acknowledgement to the creators of your entertainment and you may find value in the reasons why they made them/the emotions behind them. I'm not saying that you have to care or that every piece is a masterwork for the ages, but just consider the creators that put in the work.
Alastair Hadlow not only that...i have scrolled thru several comments and the creator of this video (or creators, to be correct) has very patiently noted that there is a link in the description to a seperate video with the same content, but no narration. he said it in the video also. no one has the right to tell him to hush or stfu when he obviously made it so you didnt have to hear him talk if you didnt want to. i on the other hand greatly appreciate the commentary. the only 2 of these i had seen were surf and this will destroy you. the others are to be watched soon.
I clicked on this because of the awesome looking fractal face portrait. I wanted to see how that could be a course for line rider. But it's not even in the video. WTF!?
wow this is cool it would be great if i could get like 10s of the track without yall talking so i can actually make the connection between sound and visuals.

Wow. I never knew Line Rider had such a distinct following. I've haven't see this much attention given to some classic writings. Good job I think

Whaouh, nice to see that LineRider is still living after all these years. It's been a long time since I've built Colossus ;)
Simply great video. Imo you're one of the best youtubers of all times.
I watched the #2 track more than once last year. I would enjoy similar tracks from that artist.
He's working on a new one I hear!
TBH I want to see more of his Rube Goldberg machines as well. I mean, that's why I subscribed to him about 5 years ago. I'm just glad he introduced me to both communities!
I think it's out, right?
Yep it came out! "Fade"
And he made a marble run synced to music. Glad to see he's doing at least screenlinked RGMs with LR!
The first ever line rider vid I’ve ever watched was “this will destroy you” and boy was that SOMETHING
Thanks!
I really like the first "I will destroy you" song it's really emotional if you start thinking about Everything you can achieve if you just tried
Wtf this is a random game I played year's ago- it has a full community????
#2 is the first one that introduced me to how intricate line rider can be.
This is a whole form of art expression that too few people know about
I just saw the Mountain King video which brought me here and i'm baffled that Line Rider is still kicking.
omg im number 7 wut
Surf from pokemon gen 3, i love that you used that song
It was really good!
thx :)

WARNING: #1 is VERY LONG! almost 1 HOUR!!!
Every one knows tech dawg should be first place everywhere
sadly he hasn't released anything since like 2009
@@LineRiderReview and still holds the record!
......mhhhh.....bla bla.......mhhh blaaaa
but HOW?!
Think you're deluding yourself with number 5 lol
stove on
How did #8 even make it into this video?
wow
I don't care who made them, or why, I just want to watch and listen
9:40 Dangerous Cargo was Not the Imposter
I wached this will destroy you befor this
missed revival :)
rabid here - in retrospect, my biggest regret with this series is not including it in this video tbh
@@LineRiderReview oh, don't worry ;)
The series was still in it's starting phase
the fuck am i doing
it sucks if you dont like that album tho lmao
POST A NEW VIDEO
Sorry .-.
Too bad flash is about to be gone forever I just found out about the game 2 days before flash doomsday
none of these were made in the old flash builds, linerider dot com for example uses HTML5
😃
"how to begin describing this"... Pretty crap? Number 2 wins easily.
Por que hablas
Youre taking line rider and yourself too seriously
Carson Nelson lol
Excuse me what the fuck?
It is impossible to Mountain King don't appear here
I clicked on this because of the awesome looking fractal face portrait. I wanted to see how that could be a course for line rider. But it's not even in the video. WTF!?
It's in #2, Dangerous Cargo by OTDE. It's in a brief moment during the static section.
wow this is cool it would be great if i could get like 10s of the track without yall talking so i can actually make the connection between sound and visuals.
Like we said in the intro, you can watch them without commentary here:
