Real story Met Mac 3x in my life. When he had to post up at the federal housing on 4&T. in Sacramento. I was a Young Teen. The called us over and popped his trunk. Handed all 12 of us a The Rompilation album. I just remember thinking this man must be trippin to call us over. Not going to say we the worse kind of people. I will say we was ambitiously young. Yeah not going to lie we definitely was looking , but the man just was real. He spoke the language we understood. I remember the big homie. Showing him respect and just walked off. Later on telling us Dre is to be given our respect. 2nd time real story went to a house party in Frisco. I was 16-17 years old. Dre remembered my name. I met him 1x like 3 years ago. Told everyone that respected the way he was treated in the hood and I was to be given the same respect that he was given. I remember first time I ever got that faded. This older mexican dude told Mac that he can out drink him. They was talking back and fourth. The Mex pulled out his wallet with no lie more money than I can count. It got silent I remember thinking that man was going to get robbed. Instead Mac went in his hoodie and dropped all $100. I jumped up off the couch hella excited. Never seen some shssh like this. Mex and Dre was negotiating rules and some how I ended up behind the bar pouring these shots of moonshine that some family member brought from Alabama. This Mex looked like he can drink and after I lost count of the shots and both of them had went into there pockets and pulled more cash. I hate to say it, but I can tell Dre was hitting his limits. 100% the man that showed me respect 30 second after stepping in his presence was not going to win. I remember grabbing the glasses setting the down below the edge of the bar. I filled the mex shot glass with the shine and I noticed a sealed water bottle. Dre's shot glass filled it with water. Put em up. Mex immediately took it. Dre took him around 2 minutes before even putting it took his lips. We all been in this situation you know your not going to win, but you know you have continue. Kid you not He swallowed it bracing for the burn. Till this day I remember his confused face of WTF. He looked up at me. Man I never smiled that hard in my life. I stood there silent while everyone was shit talking, cheering and doing whatever they was doing. Dre just started laughing his ass off. In this moment I met MAC DRE. He looked at his boy told dude hand it to him. The man went into his back pocket with $100's. When you picture Mac Dre and think what it would be like to actually go all out at a party with the legend. Yes I seen it for one night and it was epic. The shots didn't last much longer and in true movie fashion Mex leaned back to take a shot and just kept leaning back. Straight as a board went out. absolute Legendary. I never was given any of that money, but I didn't care the rest of the night was even more insane. The mex was out cold and Big mom's of the house told Dre he did it so he needs to take him home. Dre's homies went into his wallet and got his address from his ID. Went into his pocket snatched the keys. Picked dude up and drug his ass outside and pushed the panic button on the key. Mex was rollin in a brand new Jaguar. They toss em in the back. Both of DRe's homies jumped in the Jag. Dre jumps in the 96 Impala. Next thing I know Dre pulls up to the drive way looks at me and said nothing. I already knew Jumped in he put in a tape said this my new new coming out this year. The man starts wrapping over the stereo. Never said which Album and I was so f'd up I only remember bits of the song it was a moment in time, but i would want to say it was Stupid doo doo dumb. In Frisco Driving with Dre listening to his upcoming album hell I get it I wouldn't believe it. We finally get to Mex house at this point I'm dam near passed out. Dre and the 2 homies carry mex upstairs. They come out and they conversating in front of the car. Dre comes up to the window and asks if I can drive like drive drive. Confused and 100% lying I said yeah. That man throws me his keys and tells me to follow them. I start the car he pops his head out the Jag and asks you know where the gas station off Geneva at? I said yup He said meet us there. Then the man gassed tires spinning Dre was gone full gas. By the time I got there Dre was trying to do donuts in the intersection. Sitting there at the stop light dam near forever watching a single man sideshow in a stolen jag. After that I done lost them. Ended up at a pay phone called my auntie for directions to get to her house. Ended up taking the car back to the house we partied at went in Moms was cooking DRe was in the room with her daughter sleep. Put the keys on the dresser wrapped a burrito and left. 3x and the last went to a lowrider show. over the speaker They was announcing the rapper that was in attendance and would be on stage. " Special Guest Mac Dre" Less then a minute later this man sees me in the crowd. Jumps off the stage walks through the crowd and shows love. We ended up backstage. everyone talking I remember Dru Down some how had a lit blunt. After noticing the rotation of such blunt Dre nudges me and started to gesture something. I thought it was like No, but I couldn't understand. My mind was focused on smoking with Dru down, Dre and some other rappers. I go to reach for it and Dre stepped in and grabbed the blunt. I didn't know what to do, but then I noticed Dre was holding it. Never hit it and after awhile he passed it on. He just continued with his conversation. I realized what that man just did for my 18-19 year old ass. Never will I say what rapper was about to hand me that laced blunt. I will say the lowrider show was helled at Consumnes River College. Mac Dre wasn't scheduled to be a performer, but was there and did perform. Look at who was scheduled to perform and you will know,. No doubt That man saved me from a hard future. Changed my life and thought process. Never did he speak about that night with Mex. Never did explain why he intercepted the blunt. Never brought up how much money that man won. What happened to the Jag? All I know is When he needed someone to step in I intercept the glass and gave him water. When he saw me needing someone to save me from a horrible mistake. Dre was there. I met my wife the next day and am still married to her. That would've never happened if I hit that blunt for that I am sure of. The big Homie was right he deserves Respect. I have told my wife and my kids this story. If it wasn't for the 40 bottle you signed just like everyone that read this. More then likely wouldn't believe me. Dre was one of the realest people I know. I respect this man so much I wouldn't lie. Dre I wish I could've introduced you to my wife and say thank you, but after just those 3 random encounters. I know nothing needs to be said. This was my story of Mac Dre and yes it was insanely true.

Also, don’t know if Nickatina reads these but you were (aside from J Diggs on “Don’t Snitch” the only rapper that held your own presence on tracks with Mac Dre - you did that consistently on every track you did together, often bringing the best out of each other in the process. Thank you for this and thank you for contribution to music
@Mac Mike I thought they did Andre N Andre together? According to youtube, it was release before Mac Dre died
@Mac Mike Im not talking about the posthumous album but the one song called Andre N Andre which was released on a Andre Nickatina album from may 2004..and Dre died in november
@Mac Mike See, people are still normal. You are a nice person g big ups.
The song was recorded long before that album
Crazy but the Andre n Andre song is on the album bullets, blunts and a big ol bankroll by Andre Nickatina from 2004. Jus sayin
Much love from the Bay Area ❤️ MAC Dre we miss you !! RIP 😘 💯
Yeee
@@albundygaming Town Bizness!!!!
I remember getting his cassette at a small music store on ocean and mission here in San Francisco.
The part at 07:09 when he's talking about how he loves seeing people from different walks of life vibing to his music, singin word for word. Well fuck, that's me. Shit brought a tear to my eye.
❤️❤️❤️ I'm a 40 years old woman now in 2023 and know Mac"s lyrics word for word, and I learned them 15+ years ago, and NEVER forgot them 🙏🏾
Young Black Brotha will always be my favorite album of all time.
all of our main ones are gone. a memory. a story. a conversation. thankful for these videos.
One of the biggest tragedies in Hip Hop history was the loss of Mac Dre!!! R.I.P. Andre Hicks!!!!
I remember this man was in the rich one day, hopped out his car and yelled out to “i fuck with the rich! Yall got that good weed!” And jumped in the car and dipped hahaha
You can’t mention the Bay without mentioning Dre! 🙏🏽

Mac Dre even helped the sound guys! Humble Man!
As a white boy raised in the Midwest I first heard Dre in the late 90’s and loved his music. When I moved to the bay in 08 I was worried as a white dude bumping mac Dre might be a problem. The 2 years I was there was nothing but love from all types of ppl. Mac Dre brought all races together with his music. RIP king
🙏🏾
I had the same experience moving to the Bay from Redding. Oakland, San Leandro took me in like I was their token white dude. Taking me to a side show but the rolling 30s 40s and 50s. Made some great friends in Oakland.
I love this guy man. Seemed to be really down to earth and he was just out there making music and having fun. R.I.P Dre
My prayers have been answered! I was hoping the HD version of the interview would surface and it did. RIP Mac Dre. I wholeheartedly believe he was gonna be a worldwide superstar.
Thanks for putting this out to the world. Mac Dre will never be forgotten.
A1 since day 1 Dre Dog always an inspiration
Man, that was definitely a hidden gem. Mac Dre was super humble in this interview. Genuine and natural. He never tried to hard to make a good song, it was all natural to him. God bless your soul and thank you for the gift of your good music Mac Dre. Thank you Andre for sharing this.

Why does this look like a Chappelle Show skit lol
this is how all the media looked in the early 2000s lol. Chappelle's Show captured it perfectly.

Glad to see this... I wasnt really up on his music before he passed but his movement is still poppin today
" Special Guest Mac Dre"
Less then a minute later this man sees me in the crowd.
