Yup, orchestral stuff definitely comes last! I'm also writing symphonic black again and I legit write the orchestral stuff when the guitars and drums are locked in.

Man I’m in trouble with that. I composed a whole album with my partner which is keyboard guy. Everything is ready and we need to replace the drums and a guitar guy is just jumping in. We just realized it lacks the opportunity for good riffs and drums conventions and more creativity. We will end up recording many parts agains with different arrangements if necessary.

Great video, man. Keep them coming.
I'm very curious to see how you handle the orchestrations with the guitars, to prevent the distortion to sound like pink noise. \m/

Crazy, with my cymbals I bring the velocities down to around 70 and in between 95, only on crash, splash and china's on the beat will I put the velocities above 100. Just sounds more realistic to my ears that way.

I need to figure out the harmonies I put into that outro solo in the Mariana Trench recording. Because those were pretty sweet.

One question: I always separate my L/R Kick, to separate kick layers(b1,c2), I am programming drums . I also separate any Snare hit on the beat between 2 layers(d2,d3). Why do you not do this? It just seems that it makes it easy to see how hands would be humanized in relation..
