You rock mom! I tried my best to install good rock & roll as well as many other genres. Took my son to Black Sabbath for his first concert. That was like 15 yrs ago. Not many people can say thier first concert was Ozzy with Sabbath.
I'm really digging how Robert's voice has been aging throughout the years - he's never lost the boyish tone and charm, he just adapts the songs slightly to fit his modern range...really strong!

scott upton Maybe hire a car next time and get off the tourist trail. If the weather is fine, the north west counties of Mayo and Donegal have some excellent scenery and there are some really excellent boutique festivals featuring indie bands for the surfing crowd. I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

I was there that night, it was a fantastic gig and I was so happy for them seeing as the 20000 were really into it. The last time they play Dublin was at The Point in 1996 and struggled to sell 2500 , place was empty. But it was my first cure concert so I was in awe.
I am 63 and I dismissed this band as soon as I heard their radio hits. I thought they were a poppy, mopey, jangle band. A couple of months ago, on a whim, I watched a video of their fortieth anniversary concert and was blown away. Apologies for my sneering rejection of The Cure, they are fucking brilliant!
That song is burned, tattooed, etched, and bedazzled into our brains. Anyone who lived in ancient times when this was on radio devices cannot escape immediate and heavy waves of nostalgia along with an uncontrollable urge to go back to that one epic party where this was playing and do it all over again.
Boy, cure of 2019 is really full of energy! Then a discovered I had playback speed still on 1.5 from last video (I do that with talk-videos). They sound great and energetic on normal speed as well 😂

The reason is because he always sang this way nice and clean. He never added distortion to his voice or different effect like axle rose ac DC grunge sound. Most of those singers who sang like that they can barely sing today.

Lucky to have been there. Robert talked about how the cure lived in Ireland for year and how he visited some of the old places he used to go to. I was in a yellow hiking jacket right up by the stage, amidst all the goths in black haha
I live in Chicago there's a DJ here who's been on the air since the late 60s she said Robert is one of the most fascinating musicians she has ever met.

I was a classic rock/metal head guitar player graduating high school in '87. All the "weird" kids wearing black clothing and thick eye liner were crazy for The Cure. The snotty popular rich kids liked them as well. I wanted no part of it and thought nobody will remember this band in 10 years. I had no idea what I was missing. Robert wrote incredible stuff.

@@MarioPBCSa The Cure came on at 8.25pm and finished at 10.50pm. Malahide Castle is in the middle of a residential area so they can't play past 11pm, and it's bright in Ireland until well after 10pm. Although this affects the light show, it didn't affect the performance. The Cure were amazing!
Was there that evening, the sound was a bit off for first few songs but saw the guys crawl on stage to sort it. Brilliant after that. Robert was in great form, cracked a few smiles and jokes. 2.5 hours almost, and a 7 song encore! Well worth the money!
What a concert! What a band!! Best version ever of "Just one kiss" and best version of "Never Enough" since Show, in 1992. The CURE, I couldn't love you more!! ... waiting the band plays "Maybe Someday" and "Waiting" > "waiting that maybe someday they play " LOL

That was the first thing that I noticed also. Recent concerts that I have attended, the artist will play for an hour, say goodnight, then collect the money. This band is working their butts off.
