    How to shoot HDR photography
    First I will show you the different ways to shoot HDR photo at the actual photo location.
    JPG HDR vs RAW HDR
    I will go through the Sony rx100 vii HDR settings both for auto HDR and for bracketing photos that you the merge in an HDR software. You will see the advantages and disadvantages with both the methods.
    In this video I merge my HDR photos in Lightroom, but the HDR process is similar programs like Aurora HDR and you can use a similar workflow.
    How to make HDR photos in lightroom
    I will also show how to make HDR photos in Lightroom and how to enhance the Lightroom HDR effect using my Lightroom HDR preset.

    Very helpful! Sony rx100 VII seems fine for this task. I have lightroom 4, but I'm uncertain which version(s) of Lightroom would do the job.

      Thanks! It was a few years since I used Lightroom mobile, and at the time It wasn't possible to do HDR in Lightroom mobile. I'm not sure if HDR is possible to day. Otherwise, let's hope it might come as a feature in future.

      I’m not sure about your specific model, but if you can shoot bracketed it will work.

    Beautiful Marievik! I would love to get your lightroom presets for sunsets if that is still possible?

    • @gadgetsandtech

      I don’t know if I still have it. But basically I increased the contrast and saturation. Then I enhanced/offset specific colors. But that can be different in different sunsets and sunset presets. Cheers!

      I used the Sony rx100 vii when I was talking to the camera. In the scenes where the Sony rx100 vii is in frame I just shot it with my iPhone.

    What metering mode would you generally tend to use when you are shooting raw bracketing to do HRD? I'm guessing you meter for the full matrix vs spot or zone?

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the scene. You can spot meter the brightest highlights and the darkest shadows to see how many steps there are in the scene. Maybe it’s not even necessary with HDR photography at all if the scene have 8 steps and your camera covers nine steps. Otherwise I’d say since most of the photos in the series won’t be correct exposed anyway and you will get details in most parts of the merged HDR photo it’s not that important. You can use eg ”entire screen avg.” unless you have a very important object in the scene that you want perfectly exposed. I must admit that I normally don’t change my metering method as often in my point and shoot camera. I change it sometimes for a specific photo and the I forget to change it back, so I use the same setting until next time I really have to change because of bad exposure :-) Long answer but to sum it up: HDR photography in its nature is very forgiving when it comes to exposure.

    I read that some people are making 16 x 20“ prints or even 20 x 24“ prints with iPhones. From what they say as long as you stand back and view in the entire image the image still looks very good for exhibition purposes. I just purchased a Sony RX 100 V. What’s your opinion on making large prints with these two cameras? It would be interesting to see some kind of a test comparison between least two cameras in terms of if the quality is acceptable for exhibition purposes a 20 x 24”?

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exhibitions might have higher demands on quality than if you just hang a print on the wall at home. I would make one test print first and see how good the quality is. There are also new AI software for scaling up photos. Maybe that can be a solution in case the quality is insufficient. But my gut feeling is that it would be enough if you stand back a bit and view it.

      I have a 20x30" print of a picture I took with an RX100I on my wall. The vast majority of people would have no idea (and wouldn't even know what to look for to try to find flaws).

      Another consideration: One thought that freed me from worrying too much about this sort of thing was the fact that 10 years ago or so people were literally putting pictures taken on 12 megapixel cameras on billboards.

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly don't know. I believe Lightroom is using it's own format for HDR images. Or do you mean the Sony RX100 VII RAW? It uses ARW 2.3 which I believe is 12 bit, but I'm not 100% certain. Cheers!

      @@gadgetsandtech Thanks for your answer. I have one request. Because you love Sony cameras, I would like to see how it is possible to stabilize a footage while zoomed in 100mm or more. I am interested in the rx100M7 and a6500 or a6600 cameras. So the test should try out all combinations of SteadyShot, Gimbal, and Monopod. No post stabilization allowed, and the camera should demonstrate smooth zooming in, panning 60 degrees, and zooming out. Which camera is the best for travel videos. Thank you.

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@intrametaarchi1015 I don't own the Sony a6500 or a6600, only the Sony a6400 which has no image stabilazation. Regarding the Sony rx100 vii I have done a few videos where I test the image stabilization. Not at 100mm but wider. No image stabilization made in post. I hope that still will give you a rough idea of how the image stabilization works.
      I would say that the Sony rx100 vii is best for travelling, depending on how you travel and how much you are comfortable of carrying. My wife brought her Sony rx100 m1 to the top of Kilimanjaro, so it's really a camera that you can bring everywhere.
      If you are travelling more in cities and can bring a camerabag, then the alpha cropsensors are better. The a6600 has the best autofocus, battery life and it has IBIS.
