A great tip I use, is to slide over some suitable black heat shrink tubing that covers the tying thread on the front hook. Warm and shrink it in place and the hook will withstand a large amount of pike attacks and the wire will be held in place perfectly. This is far easier than UV or epoxy coating the thread and more durable with the right kind of "hard" tubing.
