Well done with the shed Luke. Just one thing I would consider - leaving epensivetools in a shed is not a good idea. Shed theft is a thing. Love your house even before you get the reno plans underway which sound grt by the way.
I would suggest you have someone draw up a simple garden design. It will give you focus on what you want in your garden. Don’t worry about finishing it the first year. Water feature made from recycled materials would be nice. Keep in mind perennials are plants that come back every year and annuals usually don’t. Just remember gardening shall be fun-relaxing and a learning experience so enjoy the journey.
Luke after 30 yrs in my house I’ve realised the Garden is the most rewarding room! It keeps on giving, you will make mistakes, but how do we learn without making mistakes?? Enjoy it, I think you will be a natural - however, invest in a new shed and get more of those shelves 😊
Hi luke, give "DAINTY DIARY'S " a message she's was like you a novice gardener and now she does a Sunday weekly vlog on gardening..zara looks very sophisticated in here new glasses..have a great week ahead
@@jilleljadi5496 shouldn't be a problem when they fix up the fence and the foxes wont be able to get in,. i usually put the eggshells at the bottom of the whole when planting a plant in the ground.
So wonderful to have you open your kitchen door out to the garden. To have Maggie just walk out to her garden. No more stairs up and down to go outside.
Move your pots out to the edge of the patio so you can see them from the house - so many lovely plants 🪴 Get familiarised with the garden (like making a new friend) over the summer and decide where you want things to go . It’s exciting to see you improving the space even more 💕
Luke Well Done. The More Gardening you Do You will Get Hooked Definitely. It's a Real Pleasure Seeing Everything Growing. The Garden Will Look Nice With Some Borders and Plants and Bulbs in. Xx 😊😘
Luke, you did a great job on the shed. It's looking very organised and uncluttered. The nice thing about gardening is that you can always experiment, learn as you go and change what you don't like fairly easily. I think it's just about enjoying being outside and taking pride in the fact you've contributed to nature. Your mum and my little grandson share the same birthday. Happy Birthday to your mum!
Forgot to say Gardners World on BBC 2 Starts in 15th March with Monty Don, so inspiring to watch, So looking forward to Chelsea Flower Show, this year, Happy Gardening Luke. x
You are doing an amazing job, Luke.Everything you have both achieved so quickly since you've moved in....amazing.Well done. I think you're going to be an excellent gardener too.❤
We’ve been buying Soundcore/Anker speakers & headphones for years now! They’re by far the best for sound quality. We’ve also got the silicone lightning charging cables & I’d recommend these too.
Luke, you are doing everything just right! I do hope you are able to soon find a way to keep the fox away for the safety of ALL of you. One shed suggestion: I would buy one large tub that is airtight for the tool cases and other things (small motors, power tools, tool sets, etc.) 😊you want to keep dry. This will keep them safe from corrosion, and they will last longer! Keep on gardenin' pard'ner!
Hope you don’t mind me suggesting, save broken pots to put a piece over the drainage holes in the pots then add the compost. This will still allow drainage, however, will stop the compost seeping out. Also, scoop the leaves up in the shed and put them in a plastic pot weight down with a brick/stone and put behind the shed. The leaves will break down so you can use this next year as mulch. I wasn’t a gardener until I bought my house back in 2009 and learnt about gardening over time and still learning. Some plants thrived others didn’t. All depends on type of soil, conditions, light and shade in the garden. I learnt a lot from watching Gardeners World on a Friday evening with Monty Don, he has some good ideas and tips. Look forward to seeing how your garden plans develop.
Be careful of Maggie with lilies as they are poisonous to dogs & cats. Gardening is hard work but worth it when you can sit & admire all your grafting xx
Lovely video Luke, varied 😊 Good job replanting, they should all grow. Also good job on the shed, at least things are protected from the rain now 👍 Maggie was having such fun with that squeaky ball 😁 We're all looking forward to some spring and summer now, our grass is sodden and I can't walk on it yet 😞
Hi you guys I've just come in from the garden to watch you with my lunch. Luke plants will find there way into your trolley it's just what they do. When you do research though some are not pet friendly. You will surprise yourself at how quickly gardening grows!!!! On you. Once you see a section come together and thrive it spurs you on to the next and before you know it you have a well established garden. I only have a small cottage garden but every nice day I at least spend part of my time in it. A garden is never completed as you will find yourself moving plants to new spots and introducing new ones and then come the structural items lol. But you know what it is the best therapy just switch off and immerse yourself in your own little piece of nature and the mood is lifted. Look forward to sharing your garden journey with you. Zara those glasses are stunning love them . Big hugs for Maggie xxxxx
Hi Luke, Zara and the gorgeous Maggie 🥰. Great video Luke. Your garden will get there just keep doing what you’re doing Luke and always good to watch some gardening shows too. You’re doing so well with your house and garden. Your dinner looked delicious 😋. Thank you for the cinema recommendation definitely going to see that I could with something funny to watch. I started to watch breathtaking but it was too sad so had to stop it. Have you watched too good to be true on channel 5? I enjoyed it. Have a lovely weekend and happy birthday to your mum she will be getting spoiled having Mother’s Day and her birthday on the same day. Mother’s Day is very early this year. Looking forward to your next video ❤️
Bless you Luke ,gardening is not easy it is tiring and hardcwork ,but well worth it ❤ nothing more inspiring than seeing your garden coming back to life, just magical ✨️we've just bought a composite shed ,not cheap ,but again worth it ,your garden will look beautiful and your house is so gorgeous, it will all look so amazing when you finish everything you want to do ,good luck my love ❤
Love listening to jazz and and puttering(or pottering) in the garden. Awe precious Maggie and her ball! Zara's glasses are lovely, and with the outfit I'm getting a sassy librarian vibes! It will be wonderful to watch all of your home and garden transformations.
Luke, Home Bargains sell a very reasonable potting bench which you can do with to save your back. It's not in shop yet but probably will be when gardening starts and the weatherwarms up. X
Hi luke great vidio I grow sunflowers every year and they grow 15 feet every one at my allotment c9ment on them just to say its a bit early to be sowing them as you cant put them out side untill the last frost you will be potting them up into bigger pots till May
Hi Luke congratulations on being bitten by the gardening bug! It's hard work but very rewarding when your garden is in full bloom. Take your time,it's not an overnight thing to do and as another comment suggests lock your gardening equipment away safely.
Love your vlog Luke. You are doing a great job, I think you will really enjoy your garden when you get stuck in. I love your taste. Great ideas. Look forward to watching you when you vlog. I'm 60 and love my garden. Keep up the good work and enjoy your life.
Rather than keeping those leaves in the shed to 'dry out' and you said, I would put them outside to rot down. They are then great to compost into the soil.
Lukey Luke (as you are know at my house) I don't normally comment but you will SO need to replace the shed with a bigger one! The laws of homeowning and gardening are set in stone no-one EVER needs a smaller shed. Actually a shed that covers the whole width of the garden at the end is easier on the eye and once up you won't miss the ratty bit of space at the end of the garden next to the existing one. As a professional gardener I wish you luck, may I advise is it's better to have three or five really big pots or containers for plant showstoppers and seasonal and put everything else in the ground. Plants in small pots fade quickly, dry out quicker and don't have the impact that a curated big pot group has. The Bay Tree will really reward you but make sure you put it into the bigger planter and in summer watch for the bugs that get into the fresh leaves and make them go distorted and curly, They can be safely sprayed with an organic insecticide. Best wishes Richard
Hi luke, zara & Maggie, don't worry no one is an expert when u start gardening u learn as u go & make mistakes that's the fun part, that's a good idea about the pot feet coz slugs r a right pain when the pots r sitting on the ground, miracle grow is great plant food & so is tomato feed ur garden is gonna be great in the summer, have a great weekend lots of love to u zara & Maggie 💞💞💞
You gave me a good chuckle when you asked if that was a mint tree. Mint does not get to be tree sized, but it will run like crazy so never, ever plant it in the ground. Don’t even put a pot of it on the ground. The roots are very hardy so keep the pot on a hard surface like a patio or deck, or at least a paving stone.
You can plant in ground now forget transplant Luuk. They will grow fast so give them plenty of room. Just slap a roof on shed, sheds don’t have to be perfect. Shelves looks really good. Zara looks so cute and studious in vest!
the two red plants from iwan are red robins! new leaves as you cant tell are gorgeous bright red once in the ground they grow pretty fast and the one i had i was forever trimming to keep in shape lol if you want coverage for a fence border then they will thicken up more you trim etc x enjoying watching you learn about gardening x
Get a plain hardwood bench for outside, you can use it for potting plants and you can also use it as a bar and/or buffet for outdoor entertaining. Absolutely get rid of that shed, brand new kitset sheds aren't expensive and you'll spend just as much fixing the broken bits. It's much better to do it now when you're not having to empty years of accumulated stuff out of the old shed and work around established planting. I'm glad you got a bay tree, it's so nice having fresh bay leaves for cooking.
How Special to Start Your Video in your own garden listening to Birds, exciting times, And Yes we did have a Suprise Snow ❄️ Fall in Chipping Sodbury last Saturday, looked Beautiful, just to say there are lots of garden plants that are Poisonous to Dogs, We All Love ❤️ Maggie. x
Well done with the shed ,totally agree with one of the comments expensive tools need to be inside the house .Sadly having being burgled twice it's heart rendering!! Please get yourself a potting table safe you'd back & knees .Fabulous job & lovely to see Maggie outside ! How did you manage in the flat ! Summer here we come with your plants ❤ x
In case you are interested, the shrubs Iwan gave you are red tip photinias . They used to be everywhere in the South when I was growing up. My neighbor here in the Pacific Northwest has a hedge of them too.
great video Luke good job sorting the shed, plants will thrive better in bigger pots. I am just in the process of watching Breathtaking too its certainly an eye-opener to what the NHS went through during COVID-19. xxx
Oh I can’t wait for the spring/summer now Luke to see your garden bloom Doing a great job and the shed well done 👍 very brave in that rainy weather x x
Loved this video sweetheart.. nice to see a normal day in the life of ♥️. Love your enthusiasm for the garden I think you will become a very knowledgeable gardener xx once again great vlog and must say dinner looked amazing …can’t wait to see the recipe xxx♥️😘
I could not watch that breathtaking, i avoided contact with everyone during covid and just before the vaccine came out i was rushed into hospital for an operation it was so so scary
Lovely vlog Luke ,when I first moved to my house I just concentrated on flowers in pots, making the patio look nice and kept the grass tidy until I’d been there a year and then progressed from there ,theres no rush Luke especially as you want to change the shed gardens take time & money just like our homes ,food looked amazing btw 😊🌸🌺☘️🌿
Love all your blogs and thought perhaps this might help. I am qualified in horticulture and my husband taught horticulture and we ran a landscape and garden design business before his body gave out and he decided to teach using his qualifications. Measure your garden. Make a list of needs and wants. Eg garden shed storage maybe a need. Look online to see what sizes sheds are and make a paper size square or rectangle and move it around on a back garden paper plan. Think about where the sun hits and what type of soil eg clay, sandy etc. is it wet or boggy or dry and slipping or does it have lots of dips. Once you have the needs sorted use the paper plan to move things around until you are happy. Think of width of paths to enable wheelbarrows and bins movement/storage; ugly but necessary. Next think perhaps seating/ dining area. Again size of table and chairs and allowance for moving chairs in and out from table. Plants tend to be the lovely thing but really the last thing to go into the garden. Note some plants hate being relocated so resist putting into the ground unless you are certain you will not need to move it. If you have established trees or shrubs always wait until autumn to move and prune hard before moving to reduce chance of damage to the plant. Let me know if I can help best of luck Jeanette
Hi luke love your new home just thought I'd let you know the two red leaf plants Mr Carrington give you are called photinia fraseri or (Red Robbin ) they thrive in a sunny part of a garden and there resilient in cold frostie weather when there settle into well drained soil if you remove the leafs with black spots they will reward you with beautiful red colours all year round there a beautiful plant 🌿 x
Hi Luke! Good job on temporarily patching up the shed roof and organizing it. Well done! Assume you guys will eventually just replace that old shed. I predict by this time next year your garden will just be absolutely lovely. Keep at it. 😉 Have a great rest of the week ahead! Much love from Fort Worth, Texas! 😊🏡🌱
Nice to get into the garden Luke, makes you feel good when you have done all your jobs, she'd looking a lot better give it a chance to dry out, l put grit on the top of my pots, looks good and helps to keep moisture in, the plant off Iwan is called a red Robin, the common name for it anyway, your pots are looking good l am sure everything will come along nicely x
the one tip ill offer up to you today is,, use v shaped pots, so when needed its easier to pull plant out and re-pot it compared to barrel shapped pots, and always read the labels, cause some plants become huge , love your videos, ❤❤❤
I don't have a garden, since we moved last year. I do miss having a garden, and being able to peg washing out. I had to leave my daffodils behind and my fuchsia.
Soundcore makes great speakers! I have a smaller one than this and it's fab! The one you have is looks great. I will have to check out their earbuds. 😊👍 Greetings from Toronto 🇨🇦😊🏡
How exciting! A new garden, and not one that has been loved, so it's all down to you guys now!! Our local small garden project needed a shed, after much research we went for a metal one (surprisingly light and green in colour) that was easy to erect, let me know if you need details. Loving Zara's new specs.
My tip would be to read up on the conditions your new plants require and check the size it will eventually grow to. Have faith and BELIEVE that tiny plant may eventually grow into a 30' shrub and give it enough room to grow and spread. It is difficult to do because you want your garden to look full and not have a few little plants dotted around with lots of bare soil. l still struggle with this even after years of gardening ☺️. You could always fill in the gaps with annuals.
You get the gardening buzz. Its so rewarding! I can't wait to get back into my garden but it's so water logged with all the rain we have had. Thank goodness for pots that you can still tend to! Can't wait to see how your garden looks in a few months. Well done Luke great work and glad you are enjoying it 🎉❤ xxx
I have a balcony that gives me colour and bloom in the summer. In southern Ontario 🇨🇦it has been unseasonably mild. May 24th is our planting date for gardens. Woo hoo. Snow drops are up so are the green bits of daffs, and lots of pussy willow.
My birthday is the day before your lovely Mams on the 9th of March. It is lovely seeing develop and love gardening. I was thinking that as you and Zara must eat a lot of veggies if would make sense if you got a composter for your garden. They make wonderful free compost. Your local council may have a scheme were you can buy them. I have 3 and a wormery. I get wonderful compost. Happy Birthday Mam on the 10th.❤
Don’t leave anything ‘good’ in the shed ie tools. Unfortunately people aren’t as nice as we want them to be. Love your enthusiasm for gardening. Don’t forget to look at all the green mold on the outside corner walls of the house. Give everything a good scrub down. It’s an ongoing maintenance thing unfortunately. Home ownership is a lot of endlessly work 🤷♀️
Glad you enjoyed ‘Wicked Little Letters’! I too thought it was fab… Story was set in Littlehampton (where I live) but filmed in beautiful Arundel (just up the road and Worthing!) You, Iwan and Kate should definitely visit. Lots to see as well as Ford car boot (Sunday and Thursday) its amazing and often featured on TV. Fabulous area to visit with seaside, river, castles and the downs.
Please get a hardscape done first. Figure out where you want your paths to go, space for dog, if you want any other build in planters. You need garden planed before you start buying plants. Some wants more shade, some needs more light, water, etc. You’ll probably loose time and money before you get it right. Ask how I know.Get a compost bin , something with tight closure, and get your food scraps, leaves, cardboard, paper in it. You’ll get free food for your plants. Also, that shed can get reused. Cut it in the middle, and use those half’s as a lean to on the side walls, opposite each other. Then you can build either pergola in between or some other feature to look at from the kitchen window.
I have a bay tree it was fully grown when we moved in 30ish years ago, ours like a shady or partial shady spot have nearly killed it twice moving it to a place it didn't like. Don't despair they are quite Hardy ours revived even when the leaves all fell off.
You could buy a aluminium cupboard for your tools that locks . especially if u are getting rid of the shed...instead of buying the shelves..cant wait for the garden renovation.
Hi luke so spring is on the way and what a great size garden you have so lovely to see your red robin doing well and maggie loves her garden too do you ever consider a garden pond with a fountain and a waterful your size garden would fit the bill it woud look great❤😊
When choosing plants check that they are not poisonous to dogs as i found out one day that the plant i had in my garden was and i got rid of it. Had to laugh at Maggie with the ball, my dog used to do that when he was younger, he is 11yrs and doesn't play as much now.
Well done with the shed Luke. Just one thing I would consider - leaving epensivetools in a shed is not a good idea. Shed theft is a thing. Love your house even before you get the reno plans underway which sound grt by the way.
Yeah he needs cctv front and back
He does not need CCTV, just a sign nothing worth stealing in this shed! 🤗
@@JoJo-Hamilton makes no difference cctv a must , most folk have them especially in the front I disagree on that HE does need it
No he does not! Believe me...💋
Home insurance covers loss.🤗

With the shed, even tho the tarp is temporary, you have a 'skylight ' now!
Great vlog thank you for sharing x
A lovely garden to work and relax in 🍹🍹☕️☕️
I don't have a garden, since we moved last year. I do miss having a garden, and being able to peg washing out. I had to leave my daffodils behind and my fuchsia.
Hi Luke ‘Fatsia’ is a great perennial, it’s evergreen, looks tropical and is trouble free. Good luck. Peace 🧚
Love Sara's glasses..
Soundcore makes great speakers! I have a smaller one than this and it's fab! The one you have is looks great. I will have to check out their earbuds. 😊👍 Greetings from Toronto 🇨🇦😊🏡
Foxes can jump really high, I used to have them on my own garden. They look like small dogs but they can jump and climb like a big cat.
How exciting! A new garden, and not one that has been loved, so it's all down to you guys now!! Our local small garden project needed a shed, after much research we went for a metal one (surprisingly light and green in colour) that was easy to erect, let me know if you need details. Loving Zara's new specs.
Busy time ,lot positive areas carried out ,love the glasses ,look great😊
My tip would be to read up on the conditions your new plants require and check the size it will eventually grow to.
Gold bars are elite, in saying that i haven't had one in years. It can be my weekend treat 😂 We have them across the pond here in Ireland.
Just watching and wanted to say well done on fixing the roof xxx
Fertilize new plants after planting. Potted plants use liquid fertilizer every few weeks
Home ownership is a lot of endlessly work 🤷♀️
love the film wicked little letters. It's based on a true story
Great video luke thank you 💙had the gold bar it was yummy 🥰
Good she'd repair and great plan ting.
Gold bars are the best. ❤
Thanks for the movie recommendations, am always looking for something new to watch 📺 🖥
Breathtaking, came out in NZ January, too sad 😔
Greetings Luke from the Treasure Coast of Florida. No sun here gray and cloudy. ❤😅
Hi Luke, Iwan has put a video up of a new B and M that has opened recently, plenty of gardening items featured and looks good value too !
You could buy a aluminium cupboard for your tools that locks . especially if u are getting rid of the shed...instead of buying the shelves..cant wait for the garden renovation.
So nice having a garden to potter in and learn gardening. I think the plant that Mr Carrington gave you may be a Peony?
Good job done on the shed, enjoy your gardening. Went to see Wicked Little Letters today too, really enjoyed.🐞
