I think the one thing I have some sympathy for re Saka and Martinelli is that the change from fast paced attacking football last season to City dullness has negated them a good bit. Imagine them under peak Klopp teams? The same with Doku had Mane selfishly put him off joining Liverpool after World Cup 2018. All of them would be thriving. I know some Gooners will cry about Saka's stats. But plenty of Gooners have said Saka hasn't passed the eye test much of this season.
And look, as a Liverpool fan that applies similarly to Salah this season. It was numbers more than performances before the AFCON/injuries. More age related though the Arsenal guys.
I agree striker market isn't as good as it used to be..but certain factors can also be a factor in why...go back and watch Premier league years on skysports...maybe 15 years ago...strikers had way more space in the box...teams didn't get behind ball all the time when the opposition has the ball...wingers was able to stand up their fullbacks and put balls into the box for strikers..now most teams play with inside attackers.. not wingers...and players double up on players trying to go down wing...teams now want to pass the ball in the net...which means strikers are being man marked by 2 CBs..so yes strikers may not be as lethal in general as they used to be..but alot of factors ad to that...
