I love how you can see how Queen progressively gets more and more annoyed with sanji. Yeah post timeskip sanji is really fucking bad for a while. He gets a little better later, or at least Oda calms down with the horny gag.
Yeah, that pervy nosebleed gag ain't even that funny. For the first episode into the time skip it was funny, but when it became an actual plot point, is when it was annoying.
The Koala cleaning scene never EVER fails to make me cry. I literally can't explain it but every moment from when they introduce her to when they drop her off just hits my heart so hard.
I love this arc so much, I don't think Oda has ever gone into such a painful issue in a way that feels so close to reality, and so in-depth. Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime are true legends, her scene saying to drop the weapons because children are watching is one of my favorites in all of One Piece.
Fishman Island, like Skypiea, is a very underrated arc. I'm glad that you're seeing the nuances that this arc is provided to the series as a whole and I hope that more people will take note.
Only some pacing problems at times but the main issue is the villains I guess, in skypea except for Enel (also underrated villain) the priests were not interesting nor fun nor cool nor entertaining, rather boring and the villain in fishman island give the same vibe, boring, not special, not interesting not fun. But both Skypea and Fishman islands are great, both are important arcs, both have good themes. Can't believe people don't see the good parts of the arcs instead of getting stuck on the less good.
I don't know if you noticed, but at some point in this arc, it is said that the children of fish men tend to have very different appearances from each other and from their parents. They are even shocked that humans judge others by their appearances, since for Pisces men diversity is something very common and natural.
My emotions were running high throughout this arc. One of the most well thought and provoking arcs that Oda penned down. I can feel the pain of the oppressed, not just in this story but in real life too. And my heart explodes with all the emotions every time I watch this, to the point I almost could not get through it the first time. But here I am, watching it again and still bawling my eyes out. Peace is what we want, peace is what we will get if everyone does their part.
In hindsight, I love this arc more and more for how powerful it is. It's easier to look back and be fond of it, than to 'like' it in the present, when you're first experiencing it. The real world parallells, with slavery, bigotry, racism, hatred... The change has to start with someone, only the strong can make it happen. Otohime called herself fragile, but she was one of the best. Jinbei, too, is simply amazing. I find it so interesting, and admirable, how Fisher Tiger held so much hatred, yet he didn't let it cloud his hope for the future. He was justified, and his heart full of conviction, even more than the hatred that ended him.
I know Koala said "Because I don't know you people" in response to Jimbei asking why she's afraid of them for the sake of the narrative, but let's be real. She had good reason to be afraid of them after having her life (and the lives of all humans) threatened and being sucker punched by Arlong. LOL
The amount of "tough love" that there is in One Piece is quite alarming. Oda was most definitely beaten up as a child :D. Jokes aside, this flashback is one of the best.
This arc is really deep and meaningful. The storyline between Fisher Tiger and Queen Otihime proves that. And everytime I came back to this arc, Koala's backstory always makes me cry😭 This is also a suitable arc for Nami. We know how much she hates pirates at the start of the show, but then forgiving Hatchi and then forgiving Jinbe? Thats a character development! This also shows the contrast between Arlong and Nami. Both of them experienced the slaveries between their people. Arlong generalized all humans are evil and became the creatures that he always hated which furthermore spreading the racism-slave cycle, while Nami with a simple understanding and forgiveness stoped the racism-slave cycle!
And this is why Fisher Tiger is my favorite character to this day! He believed in a better future where there is no hate between humans and fishmen and he knew it was goung to take time like otohime said, he saw hope in Koala. And even if he could no longer be saved from his hate to the point of choosing to die before having himan blood in him, he never spread his hate to the next generations ❤❤
Stanley yelled at me today This arc was amazing to read years back, hearing all this tragedy. Neptune locking himself away was a particular neat part to see. Preach peace and forgiveness but if it's your own kin, your own loved ones that need avenging it only feels right to take it...rough reality.
It's fascinating how he can make us fall in love with a character in only a few episodes I just LOVE Otohime so much🥲 And also There is nothing without a reason in One Piece, even a silly singing and dancing like what the brothers always did and the reason for it...🥺😭
The long history of the fish-mans, many questions was answered, can you imagine how long it took to know about this Jimbe and Arlong for who started OP from the beginning lol
19:24 He kept that promise. No matter what else we can say about him (and his prejudice is at least founded on something understandable), he kept his promise and kept his men safe. And he didn't let that prejudice overcome him and let other humans suffer the way he did.
Also it has never been stated in the series iirc. But fish have very small eggs irl, so thats the option im going with, instead of pushing out a monsterbaby xdd
well it's a mermaid after all, she got only a fishtail down there and not legs nor a vagina, she can not possible birth a child like humans do and there is no way a merman and mermaid could have sex like humans do so everything must be done like fish do it
lol! I remember being so pissed at Luffy that he missed all that. It's OK though, as he is probably the only person who could not have heard the story and still understood. Luffy is a sleeper of character judgment. He just needs the moment he's in to read people and know what they're about. He doesn't judge on past or future, but what someone is like in the moment. I love that about him, and think it's a huge part of what makes him such an interesting character, despite being so seemingly straightforward or simple-minded. He's just a big gumu-gumu-no-balloon of instinct. I think we could all stand to be more like Luffy and judge people just as they are, without any preconceived notions.
My favorite reoccurring theme is Luffy never being there for backstories or lore drops. He wasn't present for any of the lore dumps about Nami on arlong park. Or any backstory here. I love it
Fun thing to keep in mind: Arlong didn't keep the marines in his pocket to avoid them. He did it to avoid Jinbe. If jinbei caught wind of what arlong was doing, he'd have killed Arlong himself.
The difference in what Hatchi said about Arlong and Hody is why I think Hody is the most irredeemable character in One Piece. Future events will tell more
Oda so delicately and beautifully shows the cycle of hatred/revenge/racism and has the best full understanding of it. Its like a deadly game of tug of war. It doesnt matter who started it, because now you have two sides pulling in order to kill the other side and save themselves. Each side can only see victory achieved by pulling the rope. But pulling the rope means you're actively killing the other side. Both people now in the wrong, but also justified for trying to save their own lives. The only way to save both people would be to call a truce, but the amount of trust needed on both sides to just BELIEVE that they both will stop pulling is insane for the person who has been actively pulling this rope for decades, how could they possibly trust this person who has been trying to kill them by pulling their end. The end of that level of hatred requires us all to live together in non desperate living situations where we can see for ourselves that there arent major differences between us. But for the people still pulling the rope, they could never see a world in which they live hand in hand with the person or people at the end of that rope. But children arent born in this world with a rope in their hands. Their parents and their society determine if they pick that rope up.
27:52 It's still risky. If he doesn't come back his "daddy' (that rat-mutant) may send those knights or the navy to go look for him. We don't know how they'll act or if they'll believe everyone else if they say he died in the crash.
4:36 I guess Shirahoshi was small when she was born and then over the next few weeks suddenly became huge - babies do get bigger in the first few months anyhow, just not like that.
I love otohime saying "there shouldnt be a place in this world we can't go" we are ALL humans and even so theres barriers that don't allow us to travel abroad without doing hella procedures and having money. Wish we were a free world
Stanley yelled at me today. Had to hold back the tears for a lot of moments on this one, woo. So many views of non-violent vs violent protest, extremist and radicalism/terrorism, etc, it's a lot but done so well. Among that it's good to see people who can understand (Like Nami) and those who don't care and just judge people (Like Luffy). We also see that the princess has powers?...interesting. We have the history, and now it's time to deal with Hordy. Thanks for the video!
A lot of people deny the themes in this arc because they don't want to think Oda thinks this way. There's another, very specific mention of that era in this arc. You won't know it when you see it. Few people have heard of it before watching One Piece, but some of us who are caught up know of it, now. For me, choosing to mention that here tells me everything I need to know about this arc. It is nothing less that what is portrayed in it. All that said, have you noticed, or has anyonr mention that Fishman Island is directly beneath Marie Geoise? That's a messed up place to live to be entirely honest 😭
I feel like the message of the flashback is even more important now in these times than it was when it was written (polarization of political field, war that shall not be named in YT). People are so obsessed with justifying hate and violence that the actions or piece are just trembled underneath.

@@Rude_Boi Didn't help on top of all the other issues.
36:46 And now Hordy is killing those who won't step on her image......
@@alvdansen7172 Because the bad parts outweigh the good parts.
@@Sephiroso.disagree
This is the first time I see a reactor hate Sanji like I did instead of laughing his shit off thanks Queen you're the best
I know Koala said "Because I don't know you people" in response to Jimbei asking why she's afraid of them for the sake of the narrative, but let's be real. She had good reason to be afraid of them after having her life (and the lives of all humans) threatened and being sucker punched by Arlong. LOL
Love watching your reactions! Im going through the story again thru these videos and im crying all over again!
The amount of "tough love" that there is in One Piece is quite alarming. Oda was most definitely beaten up as a child :D. Jokes aside, this flashback is one of the best.
Arlong made Arlong Park (his base in Nami's village) like Sabaody park because they always wanted to go there as kids
This arc is really deep and meaningful. The storyline between Fisher Tiger and Queen Otihime proves that. And everytime I came back to this arc, Koala's backstory always makes me cry😭
This is also a suitable arc for Nami.
Stanley yelled at me today
This arc was amazing to read years back, hearing all this tragedy. Neptune locking himself away was a particular neat part to see. Preach peace and forgiveness but if it's your own kin, your own loved ones that need avenging it only feels right to take it...rough reality.
It's fascinating how he can make us fall in love with a character in only a few episodes
I just LOVE Otohime so much🥲
And also
There is nothing without a reason in One Piece, even a silly singing and dancing like what the brothers always did and the reason for it...🥺😭
The long history of the fish-mans, many questions was answered, can you imagine how long it took to know about this Jimbe and Arlong for who started OP from the beginning lol
19:24 He kept that promise. No matter what else we can say about him (and his prejudice is at least founded on something understandable), he kept his promise and kept his men safe. And he didn't let that prejudice overcome him and let other humans suffer the way he did.
Also it has never been stated in the series iirc. But fish have very small eggs irl, so thats the option im going with, instead of pushing out a monsterbaby xdd
well it's a mermaid after all, she got only a fishtail down there and not legs nor a vagina, she can not possible birth a child like humans do and there is no way a merman and mermaid could have sex like humans do so everything must be done like fish do it
Yoooo we eating good today!!! Thanks queen 💙
Good to see a long reaction video but sorry Queen I think I'm addicted and I need more ASAP.
Oda was going all out with this backstory.
Stanley yelled at me today.
omg.. i just watched these episodes yesterday ! the timing is crazy 😭❤️
I love your reacts, you have a big fan from Brazil ❤🎉
Thank you!!

My favorite reoccurring theme is Luffy never being there for backstories or lore drops. He wasn't present for any of the lore dumps about Nami on arlong park. Or any backstory here. I love it
3:26 I don't think I have ever seen such an appropriate reaction to how bizarre otohime slapping the kid is lol
Fun thing to keep in mind:
Arlong didn't keep the marines in his pocket to avoid them. He did it to avoid Jinbe. If jinbei caught wind of what arlong was doing, he'd have killed Arlong himself.
18:28 Queen remember when I said Fisher Tiger said that there is something dark in his mind about humans.
This was that thing and it killed him
The difference in what Hatchi said about Arlong and Hody is why I think Hody is the most irredeemable character in One Piece. Future events will tell more
Nami standing like on instagram vs normal standing
😂
Yeah the kiola part made me cry as well
25:41 lmaoo 😂😂 Queen always paying attention to detail.
About seven-eight episodes! What a record breaker in your channel! Imagine you do about 10-11 episodes soon.. 😂 💀
Whoa, you got the most emotional bits out of the way in one go! 😭 Nice! 💪🏾
27:52 It's still risky. If he doesn't come back his "daddy' (that rat-mutant) may send those knights or the navy to go look for him. We don't know how they'll act or if they'll believe everyone else if they say he died in the crash.
The sons dancing while crying 😭
Luffy is like that, he doesn't care about the past.
Fishman Island isn't the most popular arc in One Piece, but many will agree the flashback is one of the potent with its real world parallels
Also mind you, Queen Otohime said those kids were sneaking to see Sabaody Park. 20,000 meter round trip, that’s crazy
When you reacted to the Sabaody arc I was worried about this arc, cause it can be too much. The story is beatifully written but hard
I always wanted to hear your perspective on this, big hug to you 💙
10:06 That guy's name is strawberry and no that's his hair going so high up
His head is just THAT long😂😂😂
The fight is almost here so it's one of the best entrances of One Piece, can't wait to see it again
8 EPISODE REACT LETS GOOOOO!
25:46 Scoliosis 😂🤦
LONGER EPISODES WOULD BE AMAZING 🤩 YESSS
i think we all had a hard time picturing her pushing that baby out
25:50 toei loves to do toei things. Oda draws beautiful women and toei says oh you mean bimbo
4:34 since they are merpeople Shirahoshi and her brothers were probably born from eggs, so birth wasn’t the same
A lot of people deny the themes in this arc because they don't want to think Oda thinks this way.
Te amo QueenBlaze! Gracias por todo! te mando un abrazo!
"Let's dream about the Sun together"
my god i love Koala
xD Ngl, with the size difference between the queen and Shirahoshi, my brain goes immediately to Futurama with Fry and the mermaid.
Me too 😂😂
17:11 LITERALLY MY EXACT REACTION READING THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME
This is the best part of fishman island besides what goes on towards the ending
12:16 they bounty thing gets all one piece fans especially in like.....300 episodes :D
This the arc I don't stop crying :)
I feel like the message of the flashback is even more important now in these times than it was when it was written (polarization of political field, war that shall not be named in YT). People are so obsessed with justifying hate and violence that the actions or piece are just trembled underneath.
