No worries. It's up to the reactor on how he wants to present his reactions to songs or other topics. What I appreciate is that you've been exposed to other artists you've never been aware of and have broadened your experience. And, of course, you've found a new band who deserves to be noted by everyone.
Well I'll say you fell into the absolute best rabbit hole you could have for what you want to do, how you want to do it, etc. I cannot speak for all Maidiacs, but pretty sure the vast majority have ZERO problem with your unique style, because this band needs/deserves edumacated fellows like you, not cheerleaders. I am not a musician but have always loved music big part of my life's enjoyment. Band Maid hit me hard when I discovered them, and I somewhat didn't know why. The reactors that resonated with me unpeeled the onion musically, insight by insight, and wow I got a free musical edumacation, thank you very much. And I truly heard the music better and more thoroughly afterwards. As Mr. Natural said in my 73 yr old day, Keep on Keepin on young buck!!
Another Maidiac here showing support for the way you do it. I don't watch B-M reactions to hear a whole song for the 1 millionth time. I watch to see a first-time reaction, and get especially entertained when a newbie gets their mind blown, and talks about it. If the reactor sheds insights and teaches me something along the way, even better.
I subscribed to your site because of your serious musical interest and honest appreciation of BAND-MAID and their music. Stay true to your way of reacting. I enjoy your analysis, Mr. Sorenzo.
Totally agree with your point of view The idea of react is to add value to the original video, not just sit and watch the entire thing without pauses 😀
Everything you've said is 100% correct...but Band-Miad loves reactors and is on record stating they encourage people to react to their videos (as long as you are reacting to their official videos). In their bio they mention how much of an impact reactors have had on their success....They pretty much are more concerned about spreading the word about the band then making money. I'm sure they'd love to do both though lol...They have actually pointed out reactors at live show that they recognize. All that being said I have watched your videos on Band-Maid and you are not reacting to them you are analyzing them...which is awesome. You are great at it. I would say most people don't mind pausing the song if the person has something interesting to say - which you do. It's refreshing to hear someone talk about the composition and the musicianship over - "wow this song is fire." I recommend keep doing what you are doing but feel free to analyze the whole song. No need to cut parts out. The band doesn't mind. But I agree just playing the whole song straight through is wrong. What you did wasn't wrong. It was very good. So in short - Do it your way, I will watch for sure. BUT feel free to include the whole song.
Bigger picture! Anyone who does more than Band Maid has to worry about copyright from the bands/publishers. You should try doing your own reaction channel and see how far you get trying to show all of the video of any band other than Band Maid.
@@JAF729 The point I was making is how impractical it would be for a reactor to change his format for Band Maid reactions, then go back to another format for others. If you want to see an uninterrupted video, go to the original site. I am sure all those complaining about this are already familiar with the music and know how to get at the original source.
I personally like the musician insight as I don't have that perspective being so musically non-inclined as I am. I took your 4 video in 1 reaction as just wanting to get a solid starting base of their music. I can tell ya like many have before me this thread that the maids want their videos reacted to as long as it's the official ones they release and very rarely hit any reactor with a copyright claim. In fact my first serving (concert) I went to was in Dallas and midway through the performance they recognized a reactor in the first few rows and was so happy to see him there! Proof that they actually watch reactors to their videos and are thrilled that they helping spread the joy and love of their music!
I am Japanese, and although I was never much more than an amateur performer, I have since worked mainly in the classical and jazz fields as a promotion, publicist, producer, and critic. I am retired now, but it is the music of BAND-MAID and other young Japanese rock/metal band musicians that has sustained me in my old age. So, I look forward to seeing the reactions of people like you who are accomplished performers and have an ear for music. Because sometimes it gives me confidence in my own views, and sometimes it gives me a whole new knowledge and perspective. One of the most distinguishing characteristics of BAND-MAID's music that I personally feel distinguishes it from other bands is KANAMI's (plus all the members') compositions. Their songs, especially in recent years, have a very unique and advanced musical characteristic in that each of the five members sings a unique "song", but they merge together to form one great song. And to this end, every sound and song structure has been cleverly calculated, arranged, and designed in a dense, intricate, and intertwined manner. For example, KANAMI's many solo parts are very significant in the storytelling of the overall song. It is not just a time for virtuosity, but sometimes a bridge, sometimes a “third vocalist,” and sometimes a complement or explanation of the theme of the song. And the performances by the other four members, including the vocalist, can be cleverly staged throughout the song to make the most of KANAMI's solo. So, we need to interpret her solos not in a performance-legal commentary or analysis, but in the larger context of the song as a whole. And it is not only KANAMI, but also MISA on bass, AKANE on drums, MIKU who mainly plays backing guitar and second vocal, and surprisingly, even the main vocalist SAIKI's singing serves as a director and a character to tell the whole story of the song and they instantly take turns playing the lead, co-starring, and supporting roles in the storytelling of the song as needed. In short, all of their individual musical performances are created, arranged, and acted out for the sake of the overall storytelling of the piece. After all, to describe or analyze their performances only in terms of their individual playing techniques is not enough to tell their true musicality at all. I am sure that your ears and knowledge of the music would be able to understand this immediately. I fully understand your thoughts, and I usually agree with it (LOL). But personally, I don't think it is enough to give the viewers an adequate analysis when it comes to the music of BAND-MAID...... Anyway, listen to their music for a while. After that, I sincerely hope that you will rethink what is the most effective way to analyze and talk about their music.
Interesting point of view, and I know what you are talking about regarding their compositions. However I will keep watching this guy's reactions whenever he does one of their songs because I think he has some unique and advanced perspectives technically that I want to see. I mean I already know the song inside and out most likely. Anyway I think that is why I will keep turning in. if he wanted to of course he could let it play through with minimal interruptions and then chop it up after that but I'm totally fine with what he's doing now because it's quality content. PS - I'm old too, lol.
Thanks heaps for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏼 You’re absolutely right about the storytelling and the context of the song, and how listening to the 3rd vocalist (Kanami) within the context of the song matter. Something for me to think about
@@mr.sorenzo Thanks for your sincere reply. However, I just want to add one more thing. Actually, BAND-MAID has a fourth and fifth vocalist.😂They are MISA on bass and AKANE on drums. And sometimes those two even act as the main vocalists.😜
@@Kevin6059 I would like to basically agree with your thoughts. But an excellent reactor like him is very valuable, both to us and to BAND-MAID, I believe. That's why I felt like asking for a bit of a tall order. Please tolerate me.😎🙏
I can only speak for myself, but I get the most entertainment out of reactions from people who are either very observant and catch details, then point them out, or people who know music and can explain the things that I have either heard and not understood or other things outside of my experience and knowledge. From what I have seen, you fit into that latter category, which explains a lot of why I keep watching your reactions and will subscribe right after writing this comment.
Great!!! As a disabled musician of 56 plus years now. I have complained about this for years about reaction channels. I watch reaction channels that are musically trained and have something to add. Yes, Band-Maid has their own management company (MAIDIT). But that still is not fair to them that are using their material to get views and nothing else. Great comments 👍👍🕊️🇺🇸
I appreciate you spreading the word about BAND-MAID I know you fell down pigeon hole by accident reviewing the guitar as I didn't know about you in-till I saw that review so what goes around comes around in a good way
I think most fans of Band Maid (myself included) really appreciate the knowledge that you bring to reactions and when you stop to highlight different things in the music it highlights the things that they are doing. Sooo keep on keeping on. With the few reactions that you’ve done I look forward to your videos.
Anybody who watched the video featuring Kanami's PRS should have realized that you're not a music reactor but a guitar player making guitar related videos. I think it's pretty cool how you found out about Band Maid and I enjoyed the videos showcasing their music.
I have appreciated all your Band-Maid reactions, good to see you’ve found them finally and hope you become a new fan. Even if at first you didn’t know who they were.
Mr. Sorenzo, DO NOT worry about what a few immature subscribers (?) go off on you. I, for one, appreciate your insightful reactions and (at times) legitimate critique on any artist's music. In this world, where free speech seems to mean less and less to some people (except their own), I appreciate what you're doing. I agree with you that if your subscribers like the music of bands you have on your channel, they should check out the bands on their own. That is one of the great benefits of music reactors on TH-cam.
No apologies needed. I stumbled upon Band-Maid last year watching lollapalooza. Right after that i found out about reaction videos. The best ones teach me about the song. Most rock is 4/4 in a major key and maybe a total of 6 cords. But with Kanami and Band-Maid that's never the case. Key and time signature changes all over the place. So having a musician give me a take on the song is why I watch. Thanks
A lot of times it seems like there's a time signature change but there's really not. That doesn't make it any less ingenious however. Kanami is a true master of composition.
@@mr.sorenzo I will add that I watch your, and other, reactions because I am looking for another point of view. I am learning from you about things I didn't hear or see in a song. If I wanted to see the video without interruption I would watch the official video. Thanks for your insight on all of these songs and the songs to come.
I have no problem with your style of doing a reaction. Like others have said, if I want to watch the whole thing, I can go to their page and get that. I'm just glad you didn't feel the need to tell us how much you liked their cute outfits 😀
We've already seen dozens of reactions for each song, and watched Band-Maid's videos tons of time. So it's actually refreshing when a new reactor propose something slightly different, and most real Band-Maids fans (beware, there's a few trolls hidden in the crowd though) will appreciate such a novelty, especially coming from a musician. Now, there will always be those people who eat exactly the same thing for their three daily meals, day after day, year after year and can't stand something different. Their loss 😉. Keep it up 👍.
No I watched your video and liked the way you did it. I thought your reaction was insightful and helped me understand why I liked the music. Number one you brought something new to the table. I respect the fact that you didn't do a full playthrough especially when you did four songs. That would have been a boring video. I enjoyed that video.
Nah, I listen to reactors to get their take, especially musicians. If I want uninterrupted Band Maid, etc. I’ll go to their channel or Spotify or whatever. Keep up what you’re doing, we all learn - thanks!
I watch reaction videos to get insights into the music. If you want to listen to the music without interruption, go listen to it instead of wining about a reactor talking and stopping the video. It's up to the individual reactor and listeners to do what they prefer.
I think this is a perfectly reasonable take. For me, the sweet spot of reaction videos often involves stopping a song multiple times to talk about sections of it, or replaying sections to do further analysis and figure out what’s going on. Your video just cut out the bits that you didn’t do analysis on, which is totally fair. I also don’t care for the people that listen to the song uninterrupted and go “that was great… subscribe and like!” I rarely go back. Also, welcome to the pigeon hole! It’s a fantastic ride, there’s a new album coming next year, hopefully some international touring too. That all said, the ladies of band maid do watch reactions videos and have sorta fangirled themselves when the reactor was in the audience. (There is video of them seeing Mr Rock n Roll in a show and it’s adorable)
"I also don’t care for the people that listen to the song uninterrupted and go “that was great… subscribe and like!” I rarely go back." Ditto that for me +2 Similarly, at key points in a performance, such as immediately after the instrumental part of live "Hate?", the host had better stop the video and say something. Ignoring all of that, and just letting it continue until the end of the song? Come on, now, I'm out.
A word of support. You do it your way. Most fans understand the review process. Just a few trolls complaining about some pet peeve. Showing the whole video AND not talking over the video seems to be very common.
I subscribed to your channel because I like when musicians, composers, music producers, etc really listen to what is going on with these bands and talk about it. Band-Maid in particular is such a rare band that carefully crafts every song in a progressive way but amazingly places information at the surface that is still appealing to people not as deep in the music space itself. It's a master class for about 3 and half minutes over and over again.
Some fans don’t get it, and I don’t understand their complaints. Most reactors do play the whole song, but will pause many times, rewind, etc., especially if they are making informed comments about portions of the song. Even this bothers some small number of fans! Good reactors add value to the original, and are the only ones worth watching and subscribing to. Your analysis of From Now On, btw, was fantastic! Keep up the good work.
I love your take on all things Band Maid ! I don't need to see the whole video or hear the whole song for the 500th time. I tune in to hear your respected opinion...Thank you ! 😁
Exactly its refreshing to watch a musician react to Band Maid. I always look for those type of reactions. I can't stand it when the reactor doesn't even know their names.
PIDGEON HOLE! THERE IS NO RABBIT HOLE HERE! lol But seriously, I appreciate the way that you do your breakdowns. I watch a ton of reaction videos to Band Maid. I think the issue is with some of the fans is that they love the music and them so much, that they want the whole thing. On a personal level, I never watch a reaction video to Band Maid till I have seen the video or heard the song first hand. And there are times that I do like full, un-interupted reactions, but I absolutely love hearing a musicians point of view with pauses and talks about what they do, how they sound etc. So your format doesn't bother me in the least. I have watched a TON of reactions to Band Maid, from all the perspectives. Vocal, Drums, guitarist, production, road shows. Then you have your normies who are just reacting. I love it all. Everyone does things a little different. I appreciate what you do. Also, your reasonings are very sound and well thought out. Keep doing what you are doing and I will keep coming back! Also, I absolutely love catching peoples first time reactions to them, cause I get to see how I felt the first time I heard them years ago. Now, if they come back to the states, I hope you go see them, cause it is worth every cent, and minute. And if you they come to the East Coast, and I see you at a show, I will absolutely buy you a beer!
You're all good. I'd rather watch your style than some of these reactors that stop the video at a very important junction to say something totally irrelevant. When those reactors do that they interrupt the flow of the song and in no way can they appreciate Band-Maid's music to its full extent. The biggest thing I love about all the reactions to Band-Maid is that it "gets the word out" about this amazing, once in a lifetime, talented band. I would also recommend "Alone" (Band-Maids first release of a song completely written by them) and "Non Fiction Days". Even though the Label had control of the music in the beginning, Kanami was very instrumental in how that song was presented. I'm subscribing and hope for success of this channel.
Don't worry, haters gonna hate. Personally I've heard all of those songs reacted to like 50 times, I don't really need a full play through. Sometimes a full play through would be nice, but it's not always needed. For four songs I think editing it down was the right move. Oh, and I've been here exactly since your first PRS Band-Maid video, and BM (and the YT algorithm) was the only reason I found this channel.
As a long time Band-Maid fan I have heard all of their songs a lot. I really enjoyed your analysis because it gave me a new perspective on the song. If I wanted to listen to it I would just go to the video.
I get it. I was totally fine. There's always that few people that don't get copyright law, fair use act, TH-cam monetary policy, etc. Also, it's nice to see an analysis on your page and not just your initial reaction. You be you.
In a nutshell.....the reason us Maidiacs like to have you listen to the whole song IS we get great joy someone hearing this incredible band songs for the first time....and it's so fun to see the reaction on their bewildered face and it reminds us how we felt when we heard it for the first time !!!! But I respect your reasoning and hope that you actually get to hear the whole song yourself !!!!! And just a reminder...check out the most overlooked BM song FREEZER !!!!! I think you'll love jamming to it !!!!
@@mr.sorenzo Yes definitely old school vibe but great song...I also think you'll like Awkward..there is a live video with really cool guitar intro and the song makes some nice changes through out !!
I think at some level, reaction videos can help a band by introducing that band to new fans - and I know that Band-Maid at least watches reaction videos (and I've watched Electric Callboy react to their reactors, so for some bands it's part of the fun) but I can also admit that if I've seen a Band-Maid song like Hate? 50 or 80 times, probably more than half of those views were reaction videos, and I see how that hurts the band as well. I'm sure that's why not all bands are so enamored with reaction videos. On the third hand, I don't watch reaction videos because I'm in the mood to jam out to a song - I either want to see what an expert on a subject (vocalist, drummer, etc) has to say about the song, as I often learn new things, and also it's just fun to see someone becoming a fan of something you already love. (And on the fourth hand, it's very easy to do like you said, which is why so many people do it. The line between producing actual content in the form of good commentary and insight, and just using a band's video to provide the content for your channel, is very thin.) I don't think I can solve this conundrum, but I'm not going to get angry at anyone for deciding to do things a certain way, it's your channel after all. I really liked the video you did checking out Band-Maid. ^_^
If someone wants to watch the full video, it's usually on the band's official channel. I respect your method and technically it's more in the spirit of fair use than playing the full video is. Playing the full video is absolutely not fair use. Playing clips and providing review and analysis is fair use. Most reactors misunderstand and misuse this. They get away with it because the bands/distributors allow it because it's easier to accept TH-cam's solution of giving all or part of the ad revenue to the rights holder than to pursue legal action. I'm not necessarily against reactors, but fans do need to understand that watching the full video on the official channel is always better for the band (the algorithm will push the original video that way). Anyway, keep up the good work. You're doing it the right way.
Respect. I knew there was a great reason I liked your channel. I don't care for the head bobber "reactors" anyway, I came to hear breakdown and analysis to help me appreciate the artistry more as a non instrumentalist. I don't read music, so I rely on experts like yourself to help me hear nuances that increase my enjyment,. Thank you for being a person of integrity.
Mr. Sorenzo, this a thoughtful and reasoned response to push back from commentors. Even more, it gave me a new perspective on reaction videos. I will be watching fewer of them. Continue with your good work.
I really appreciate your breakdowns of the music and explanations of what is going on in the song. Watching reactors like you has taught me much about music theory and composition. I watch reactors for the reactions and to hear what they have to say about the song. I am okay with the music being paused, rewound, or cut up. If I want to hear the song uninterrupted, I will listen to it wherever I get my music. I look forward to hearing your reaction/analysis of other songs and artists. 🤘😎🤘
The problem is that I often have the feeling that the non-technical aspects are not understood. The emotions, the atmosphere etc. fall by the wayside. I prefer those who listen to and watch the song when there is an MV or live version. Yes, I also find the reaction to the video important, how are the artists on stage, does the video fit the song? Not unimportant questions either. But you can't see that if you watch it bit by bit. Then you can go to your area, some go through the lyrics, others look at the playing technique and/or compositional technique and analyze it. I know it takes longer, but if it's done well, I'll take the time. There are a couple who are good at interrupting, they have the timing and feel for a song where they can set it down. But many of them don't have the timing and, quite honestly, I can't really tell. My impression. Listening to the whole CD or the concert is more of a common we have fun together story. It's often live and the chat is open. There is rarely any analysis. You can't compare it with the others.
I have learned so much about music in general and discovered so many good bands because of music reaction videos, so I'm expecting pauses in order to hear the reactors insights. What kills it for me though is when the music is not paused, but cut instead like you did in your first reaction of Band-Maid because you can't really enjoy the music and it sounds messy.
In my previous comment to you I referred to your video as a reaction/analysis because I really appreciated that you brought much more than “wow, I liked that”. It was the analysis part that I thought was better than most. Now, hearing your views on what you want your channel to be, I subscribed (and I don’t do that very often). Keep up the good work. And I’m so happy you are heading down the Band-Maid rabbit/pigeon hole. I can’t wait to hear more analysis of the band I’ve come to enjoy so much. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind REACT to BAND-MAID. Reactors can do whatever they like whether they play the full version, pause frequently, or play only key parts. However, I fully respect your opinion that the full version should be available on the band's own channel.👍
No problem, I didn't have any problem with it because I listen to the songs enough and it is fun watching someone else discovering them for the first time. Plus I enjoy hearing about the construction of the song. A funny story about reaction videos a Japanese group called Gacharic Spin held a contest that they would react to the best reaction videos and it was pretty cool. It is on their channel and worth checking out, and the band themselves are definitely worth checking out too.
I discovered Band-Maid from a reaction (shoutout DrumRollTony), which was kind of ideal for me, as a music enjoyer, but not a musician, and not a music writer. I share a disdain for reactors who just make faces at a song that they let play through, but there is something to be said for a full song reaction and analysis. This is particularly true when you comment about the songwriting, where it's important to contextualize a writing decision. A hallmark of Band-Maid's music, for example, is that they always change it up from the first verse to the second verse, but you can't appreciate how they developed it, unless you hear both. A song isn't interesting just because of some note selection or technique in a vacuum, but because of the writing and dynamics, etc., that makes a choice at a particular time an interesting choice. Or maybe one part of the song in particular really speaks to me, but it's the part that you edited out. It's tough. I think it's less important to worry about stealing a view from Band-Maid, and more about helping people to appreciate their work, so they become fans, and you drive many future views to them. The band members themselves watch reaction videos, and recognized and shouted out Mr Rock N Roll when he came to a concert, who's primarily a make faces at a video reactor. They appreciate how even reactors like that increase their exposure, which is what they really need, which is why they don't generally do strikes.
Some would say it's just semantics, but I personally believe there is a huge difference between a "reaction" and an "analysis" video. I get a kick out of watching first-time reactions (THANKS, Roger Chance), knowing that a part of a song is coming up that will seriously blow them away. It's entertaining and that's the only reason I watch them. They are entertaining and nothing more. If I want to listen/watch Band-Maid uninterrupted, I have CDs, DVDs and subscribe to their Prime channel. After being a fan for over five years, I've listened to every song in their catalog so many times, as well as seen them live, that I can almost sign along with them and I don't speak Japanese. I've spent an equal amount of time looking into what the message is behind the lyrics (as I interpret them). That all being said, the only thing missing is an understanding of the how and why they chose to deliver that message with their instruments and tonal inflections. That's where you come in. I don't need to hear the entire song... again. Since I couldn't carry a note in a dump truck and thought a "bridge" was something I drove over on my way to work, I often need to be taken by the hand (metaphorically speaking) and have things pointed out to me in small chunks (lots of interruptions/editing). That way, I can string all those "chunks" together and get just a little bit closer to an understanding of the genius that is Band-Maid. You analysis is extremely detailed, yet simple enough for me to comprehend (most of the time). Being a fan of basically every song from Band-Maid, I just need you to analyze every song in their entire catalog for me. You've got 2 down. Just another 130 or so to go. Just kidding... but only kinda.
Well, according to this comment section, I guess I'm a whiny immature karen troll, but clearly you are not the reactor for me. Thank you for promoting BAND-MAID.
Salud y Rock and Roll .
you do you, dude. your channel, your rules. there will always be people who think their opinions matter more than your perspective. indeed, making a level-headed response is the way to go, but i personally wouldn't mind seeing adults with a four-year-old's attitude getting scathed online. if they got hurt by what they saw, rub that same hurt some more -- especially those who take the 'shut up, kanami is speaking' humor like it's a maidiac's life pledge.
Unfortunately, many of the people who leave unpleasant comments are not true fans of the band, in fact, they try in every way to give a bad reputation to the fan base of that band. Hundreds of them have already happened in other reaction videos and many of us now know how to recognize them. I really appreciate your way of bringing videos, so much so that you are one of the very few reactors to whom I subscribed instantly. Thanks for the words you spent in this video, 100% I agree.
I agree with most of your arguments and thank you for your honesty in defending artists. I myself support Band-Maid by being a subscriber, having purchased their albums, Blu-Rays, T-shirts and other merchandise like, I think, most of the fans who comment on your channel. However, let me give you my personal point of view. We are able to recognize TH-camrs sincerely interested in Band-Maid among people who simply collect likes. These are often musicians or singers, like you, and share their technical opinions with their many subscribers who also did not know this rock band and therefore helped to increase the Band-Maid fan base. There is a logical correlation in the growth of Band-Maid and the gain of nearly 190K new subscribers this year with the advertising and exposure offered by these TH-camrs in my opinion. The real people responsible for embezzling the money that this rock band deserves are the music platforms that pay artists so little except for a few headliners, which is scandalously unfair. Thank you for your excellent video.
@@jeremydawkins8814 I'm ok thx, Jeremy. Someone has been using multiple acc's to down vote my comments so they get moved to the bottom of the comments section. Haters gonna hate :)
To be honest, I like it when reactors listen to the whole song first, but I also understand on why many don't. Simply because I think the experience of hearing amazing songs start to finish is something special. Overall I think it's more important having people hear the songs and get to discover these amazing bands more then my enjoyment. If I want to hear my favorite Band-Maid song, I can look up the video on TH-cam or just listen to it off the CD, iTunes, Spotify, etc... why expect a reactor to play it for you. Now if your pausing every 10 secs, then it does get annoying because at that point are you really hearing the music or enjoying it.
Mr Sorenzo i like your style & presentation, that's what reactions should be, shouldn't they? P.S I noticed you weren't subbed to BAND-MAID's channel yet :)
These aren't real Maidiacs. IMO, if you want to both to experience the entire, authentic video or song, and you want the Maids to benefit at the highest level, watch or listen to the authentic, original material. Reactors are not there to give you a full playthrough, they are (hopefully) providing additional value. I would not expect a book reviewer to read the entire book to me, nor a movie critic to play the entire movie for me.
If people want a full play-through of the video, they should go to the artist's channel. You react how you react (otherwise it's not genuine). The worst reaction videos I've ever seen are when the reactor (1) watches entire video uninterrupted, (2) nods along or occasionally glances at the webcam, and (3) ends with "what a great song!" It doesn't take a genius to realize they could record that "reaction" one time and use it for a hundred different videos.
Some Band-Maid fans get really weird about Band-Maid and/or reaction videos. There's even a meme/t-shirt "Shut up, Kanami is speaking!" (to not pause/speak during the guitar solos). You do you. I think you have a pretty informed perspective, and I personally don't think you need to play the full MV to keep my attention. For many "reactors", the only reason worth watching is the MV itself - I'd rather watch the official MV in that case.
To be fair, the "shut up" meme came about as a result of Ryan Mear making fun of himself in an early reaction, which viewers picked up on and requested the shirt. All good fun
I'm always looking for someone who shares my love for Band Maid, not some two-bit know-all who interrupts the flow of the music with no consideration for natural music breaks just to crow bar in some inanely obvious comment. It is the shared experience that is the only valuable addition to the official MVs - most reactors don't get it.
I like how reactor Rock Candy does it. He'll play the whole song through once so that we and he can enjoy it as it's meant to be heard. He will then play it again, stopping at various places to make comments about the music. I would think this would satisfy everyone, though it might not fit in with Mr. Sorenzo's view.
Cool you put this topic on the table. Firstly I agree with you regarding people who upload the whole uncut video however, I think you misinterpreted what some of those *very intense* fans were asking for. Most reactors I watch and I'm sure most maidiacs here do listen to the full songs BUT keep stopping when they hear something interesting or impressive or unique, etc. THAT's what we want so the experience of watching somebody being amazed by some of our favorite songs feels like the first time we did. And in your particular case, with all that guitar knowledge you could provide some really good entertainment while also sharing what you know about what's being played. Lemme tell you the way you edited your B-M reaction was not entertaining at all *for me* due to lack of content , like the "conversation" between Kanami and MISA in Hate? Live; I wanna see your eyes popping out through the whole thing. I tried to give my most constructive advice here, hope you don't take it the wrong way. Of course you can react however you want in your channel but don't expect me at least to watch videos that don't entertain me personally. And if in the end you decide to do the full thing but stopping some times along the songs, just two rules: Don't stop every five seconds and Do NEVER stop during a solo. When Kanami speaks the world shushes. Cheers, my fellow maidiac in the making 🤘🏻🕊
They are not mutually exclusive. People can be here for both Band Maid and I. Or seeing me for the first time: neither band maid or I (curiosity on the topic of the video)
There's always going to be some people (keyboard warriors) who think they know best how you should be running your channel and by extension your life, you do you, I would prefer to listen to an actual musician break down music, because i have not seen a vote where these people were elected the gate keepers for music and again , by extension, reactors channels, because of your attitude and heart felt reaction you have a new sub 🤘🤘have a good day and rock on
I hope you don't let a few bad apples deter you from enjoying this band. The worst thing a fandom can do is present new potential fans with toxicity that would turn them away. The reaction videos where they just say wow! or cool! or that was awesome! doesn't really have any lasting impressions. The commenters who frame it as being "disrespectful" to the band are reaching at best. The band does not need those people to defend them. At this point, I'm sure those people have listened to hundreds of reactions yet they still want more of the same. That being said, keep doing what you're doing. Musicians usually give the best analyses and appreciation because they know what to listen for and how to highlight all the cool things they're hearing, and they can appreciate the subtleties or creativity more than regular people will pick up on. I'll keep an eye out for your future videos on Band-Maid and see what interesting things you have to say about the songs you choose. Personally, I can tell you're enjoying them so I'm interested in seeing your journey with them.
Firstly, those aggressive comments you received are ridiculous. Those people do not speak for Band-Maid or their fans. On the substance of your video, reaction videos on TH-cam tend to be copyright claimed by artists, which means they receive the financial benefit of the views, in addition to the publicity. Band-Maid (and other bands, both western and Japanese) have publicly acknowledged TH-cam reactors on several reactors, and it's rare (though not unheard of) for artists to be opposed to them. Where reactors *do* get parasitic is when they place reactions on Patreon, for example, where the band neither gets any financial benefit nor much publicity (only existing fans are going to watch on Patreon). I would encourage people not to support such reactions. But TH-cam reactions - if you watch them you are usually supporting the artists. Nothing like as good as buying their albums, but better than nothing.
I've been watching reaction vids on and off (depends on the bands) for a decade or more ⏳ Some are truly informative (to me, anyway), some are simply entertaining (the reactions, I mean), and many are just people nodding along to a vid 😶 which I've learned to exit 'cause watching the band's vid itself again, is a more rewarding experience for me. The reactors HAVE to bring something to the vid or I don't see the point 🤷🏽♂ which isn't a blatant self promotion via the band their reacting to (unless, again, they're entertaining enough themselves). Another trend I've seen in the upswing is people doing everything they can to monetize their vids. Usually this ain't very entertaining either... seems a number of music pros are getting in on this as income supplement. Fair enough, I guess, if it's a brief appeal but often it ain't brief and seems the main point of the "reaction".
Fair enough. It's your channel and you do you. But I wouldn't be concerned about stealing views from BAND-MAID's channel because I believe most, if not all, of us maidiacs have already watched the originals, probably multiple times. The appeal of watching reactions, for me at least, is 1) the look of amazement upon people seeing these talented ladies for the first time and 2) have someone who is more musical savvy than me explain what is going on in the song. For example, I know when a song is good and I can really appreciate when someone can explain to me why it's good. A bit of band lore: Back in 2014, BAND-MAID would've been broken up by their management and their members moved to other projects if it were not for someone posting a link to the video of "Thrill" on Facebook. The video went viral and got something like 2 million views in the space of a week and, at first, they thought their account got hacked, but it saved them from going defunct. After that, it was basically people reacting to their videos that slowly spread the word of these remarkable women to more and more people. So I think they understand how getting exposure through reactors works for them and all they have to do is put out great music.
Don't pay too much attention to the comments. Every content creator puts a significant effort into what they consider original, personal or potentially interesting. And everyone has every right in the world to decide how to do things. Personally I think there are thousands of "reactor" channels that offer nothing, and there are some that try hard to teach something. Yours falls into the second category so... keep up the excellent work!
4:27 currently at this point of the video. Band-Maid will not copyright you and they will still count as a view for the band even if it is in your channel, is all good on their side. Now, that means you will not be able to monetize your video. So I get the edit part , that way you can still play short clips, make your comments, analysis, etc and still be able to monetize. TBH I could care less how you do it as long if it is a fair assessment of the band and so far you have always been respectful and fair.
Bro.... let me tell you something about any band. They have their fair share of toxic immature people. Please don't fell for that. Do what most do... Ignore them. I for one appreciate every video Band-Maid related. Since that's is how I discovered your channel. I haven't seen the full thing but I have an Idea where is this going.
thanks for the words. But most of them weren’t toxic just passionate. Constructive feedback is great. In this video I talk about how reaction videos really hurt artist
I've been following the band for 8 years. I only saw a reaction censored once and it was because it was a pirated recording BEFORE its release and it had very bad sound. If they haven't blocked it in all these years it's because they want more people to know about them.
@@mr.sorenzo I'm not sure if this the same incident @65anibaldaniel is talking about, but a bunch of reactors got strikes for reacting to a video of the band-maid/warning concert debuting the song show them. It was an unauthorized video from one of the warning's staff. The MV for show them was eventually released. All official video's generally are allowed to play the entire video though most will pause at some point to make comments. Many can do the same for unofficial releases too.
I like when I learn from reactions. I like when there are many stops and rewinding. It must be interrupted. I hate when a reactor listens the whole song. What’s the point?
Many just want to see a reactor going "oh wow, Band-Maid are amazing, maybe the best rock band in the world right now" as they watch the whole MV, and they won't bother with the rest of the reaction video. Of course, those reactors will be exactly the same with all the other low hanging fruit of the reaction world.
Ah I see we've reached the stage where some fans/commenters demand that others not only like the same things they do but that they experience them in the exact manner they want. I'd ignore them tbh. People like that will never be happy, no point in even trying.
You’re absolutely right Lilly! One can never make everyone happy. The point of this video wasn’t to keep everyone happy. But to explain the reasoning behind the way I do these videos. Thanks heaps for hanging out here😊
I think the complaints are not so much about pausing and talking during the song. Most reactors do this and in my opinion that is the point of a reaction. I think the complaints are more about skipping larger parts of the song. But it's your channel and you can do whatever you want.
I prefer hole songs in reaction. But understand your point . Anyway important for reaction is informations, knowledge i got out of them. So in the end it's ok. I like your way.
I come to reactor channels to see the reaction, the analysis, the opinions. If someone needs to see the entire video uncut? Watch the original. The only isolated situations when I’m disappointed is when reactors stop right at a critical dynamic shift in the music. A lot of Band Maid songs, in particular, take you on a ride, up, down, and sideways. Or deliver a completely unexpected surprise that won’t affect you the same way if you don’t hit it full speed. I’ll always give a heads up to prepare them, though. The bridges in “Blooming,” “secret My lips,” and “Moratorium” being notable.
I understand the sentiment, but I don't think you have to edit your reaction the same way. Part of a reaction video is the context which is what was missing. Other reactors will pause the video or obscure the video. This will motivate people to go to the official site to see it unedited. I definitely found your video for from now on to be much more interesting to me. It gave me more context and information than the 4 reaction video.
People be crazy. Y'all, don't watch reactors to listen to the band. Listen to the reactor to hear the reactor's opinion. If you want to listen to the whole song, go to the band's channel and listen to the whole song there. Jeez.
The hell, man? How dare you disagree with me, I'm CLEARLY an expert. That's why I'm here in YT comments, which is a very expert thing to do! ;-) Playing a full song straight through and adding little-to-nothing is absolutely the parasitic behavior you argue against here, and MOST YT reacters are absolutely useless. But I don't think playing the entire song, in and of itself, is bad. If you're pausing, pointing out/explaining/rewinding to hear again... I mean, that's fair game to me. We're literally engaging in a kinda-parasitic/kinda-symbiotic act ourselves, trying to sip away some of that introductory wonder and relive the thrill we had when we first heard certain songs/artists. Reaction videos DO introduce people to a band's work, even the shitty reacters. It's literally how I discovered BAND-MAID, The Warning, Asterism, Sleep Token... and I've purchased various items/shows from all those bands. That's income they wouldn't have had without some reacter introducing me to them. They're on playlists they wouldn't have been on. So I think what you in particular do, even if you ended up playing the entire song (by connecting all the bits which played around your pauses/comments), is NOT the problematic issue you seem to think it is. Even with that disagreement in mind, I respect the intent and the comment on the type of channel/"ecosystem" you want. I honestly love the fact you have a vision and you're actively making choices to bring that into existence, and that you took the time to talk about it. To engage the discussion. To NOT be just another "I'm just here to clock in, beg for money, watch some video, say something inane, make a cutesy face, and beg for money" reacter. And then they beg for money again, while clearly thinking to themselves, "Acknowledge my hustle! Do you know it took me a whole 5m to edit this?"
I knew you weren’t a regular “hey let’s watch a MV together!” Reactor so I didn’t get upset when you didn’t show BM’s videos in their entirety. But I know “our maids” appreciate you. There’s a fan video where they recognize a reactor in the audience. I think it was “Mr. Rock n roll” or something similar. lol In fact there’s a TH-cam short from the ladies of HANABIE, (they’re a whole different animal!) ASKING for more reactions! lol Someone once commented that “Maidiacs” may seem upset sometimes, but it’s just passion! MISA and KANAMI definitely make me want to learn guitar! Am I rambling? Sorry, you’re doing great in conclusion!
Don't worry, I like it when someone passionate about music listens to Band Maid.
Sorenzo.
Firm Handshakes Mr. Cox🤝🏼
You're doing just fine!!!! The more you dig into Band Maid the more you will appreciate their contribution to keeping proper rock music alive.
Totally agree with your point of view
The idea of react is to add value to the original video, not just sit and watch the entire thing without pauses 😀
🤝🏼
It's refreshing to hear someone talk about the composition and the musicianship over - "wow this song is fire."
I recommend keep doing what you are doing but feel free to analyze the whole song.
@@DAVID-io9nj I was only talking about Band-Maid
@@JAF729 The point I was making is how impractical it would be for a reactor to change his format for Band Maid reactions, then go back to another format for others. If you want to see an uninterrupted video, go to the original site. I am sure all those complaining about this are already familiar with the music and know how to get at the original source.
@@DAVID-io9nj "Try doing your own reaction channel" - yeah, it's a tough old life leaching off of the content of genuine creative people.
@@DAVID-io9nj I don't think you read my whole comment. I said for him to do what he thinks is best.
Thanks heaps for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏼
You’re absolutely right about the storytelling and the context of the song, and how listening to the 3rd vocalist (Kanami) within the context of the song matter.
Please tolerate me.😎🙏
@ 😂
I can only speak for myself, but I get the most entertainment out of reactions from people who are either very observant and catch details, then point them out, or people who know music and can explain the things that I have either heard and not understood or other things outside of my experience and knowledge. From what I have seen, you fit into that latter category, which explains a lot of why I keep watching your reactions and will subscribe right after writing this comment.
🤝🏼 thank you sir
@@CAPTCHAZ 🤝🏼 thanks heaps! 🎸
Appreciate you, man!🤘🏼
Anybody who watched the video featuring Kanami's PRS should have realized that you're not a music reactor but a guitar player making guitar related videos.
👍🍻
🍻
No apologies needed. I stumbled upon Band-Maid last year watching lollapalooza. Right after that i found out about reaction videos. The best ones teach me about the song. Most rock is 4/4 in a major key and maybe a total of 6 cords. But with Kanami and Band-Maid that's never the case. Key and time signature changes all over the place. So having a musician give me a take on the song is why I watch. Thanks
Thanks for sharing your story!🙏
A lot of times it seems like there's a time signature change but there's really not. That doesn't make it any less ingenious however. Kanami is a true master of composition.
@@mr.sorenzo I will add that I watch your, and other, reactions because I am looking for another point of view. I am learning from you about things I didn't hear or see in a song. If I wanted to see the video without interruption I would watch the official video. Thanks for your insight on all of these songs and the songs to come.
@ 🤝🏼 thanks Terry!
💪🏼🤝🏼
You are completely correct. Don't listen to the Karens amongst the fanbase.
Noble sentiments, A rare quality. I approve.
A good reminder of how TH-cam works. Band maid deserves this respect. Thanks for them.
It didn't bother me at all. As long as you include the bits where you have an actual reaction, it's fine. That's what we're here for.
Movie trailer vs the actual movie, that's a great analogy. Love your insightful analysis of the music. Please keep doing it your way.
🤝🏼 Thanks for the kind words! More to come.
"I also don’t care for the people that listen to the song uninterrupted and go “that was great… subscribe and like!” I rarely go back."
Ditto that for me +2
Similarly, at key points in a performance, such as immediately after the instrumental part of live "Hate?", the host had better stop the video and say something.
Word.
I don't mind your edits. You give quality analysis, and I've listened to so much B-M that I don't need to rewatch the whole videos on your channel.
This.
Thanks heaps Dave!
"Kanami was very instrumental"--I see what you did there! Wish there was a word "guitarimental."
@@jwoodjapan Couldnt help myself. They Maid me do it.
You be you.
🍻
In a nutshell.....the reason us Maidiacs like to have you listen to the whole song IS we get great joy someone hearing this incredible
band songs for the first time....and it's so fun to see the reaction on their bewildered face and it reminds us how we felt when we

but great song...I also think you'll like Awkward..there is a live video with really cool guitar intro and the song makes some nice changes through out !!
Thanks a mil for the kind words and the insights🤝🏼
Respect. I knew there was a great reason I liked your channel. I don't care for the head bobber "reactors" anyway, I came to hear breakdown and analysis to help me appreciate the artistry more as a non instrumentalist. I’m good with your reaction/review 🍺😁
Thanks!
Thanks heaps for the kind words! More to come soon!
Keep doing what you are doing. Your comments are insightful.

you do you, dude. your channel, your rules. there will always be people who think their opinions matter more than your perspective.
indeed, making a level-headed response is the way to go, but i personally wouldn't mind seeing adults with a four-year-old's attitude getting scathed online. if they got hurt by what they saw, rub that same hurt some more -- especially those who take the 'shut up, kanami is speaking' humor like it's a maidiac's life pledge.
Unfortunately, many of the people who leave unpleasant comments are not true fans of the band, in fact, they try in every way to give a bad reputation to the fan base of that band. Hundreds of them have already happened in other reaction videos and many of us now know how to recognize them.

Great analogy!
Im disappointed from this rude behavior from the fans. This is your channel and you run it how you see fit! Thank you for discovering Band Maid ✊🏿🎀
For many "reactors", the only reason worth watching is the MV itself - I'd rather watch the official MV in that case.
firm handshakes 🤝🏼 thanks for sharing!
To be fair, the "shut up" meme came about as a result of Ryan Mear making fun of himself in an early reaction, which viewers picked up on and requested the shirt. All good fun
I'll also add that Kanami's solos are very short anyway and cohesively written so pausing is not only unnecessary but also a bit disruptive

Well, at least you'll know who's here for you and who's here for BAND-MAID.
They are not mutually exclusive. People can be here for both Band Maid and I. Or seeing me for the first time: neither band maid or I (curiosity on the topic of the video)
There's always going to be some people (keyboard warriors) who think they know best how you should be running your channel and by extension your life, you do you, I would prefer to listen to an actual musician break down music, because i have not seen a vote where these people were elected the gate keepers for music and again , by extension, reactors channels, because of your attitude and heart felt reaction you have a new sub 🤘🤘have a good day and rock on
Thanks for the beautiful words and rock on my man🤝🏼🤘🏼
I hope you don't let a few bad apples deter you from enjoying this band.
You’re right, that’s unless they counter the claim. A lot of people get away with it.
I've been watching reaction vids on and off (depends on the bands) for a decade or more ⏳
Some are truly informative (to me, anyway), some are simply entertaining (the reactions, I mean), and many are just people nodding along to a vid 😶 which I've learned to exit 'cause watching the band's vid itself again, is a more rewarding experience for me.
Amazing insight and background! Thanks heaps!
Thanks Juan🤘🏼
A lot of reactors wait until after the video to talk about it, rather than stopping it over and over.
If they haven't blocked it in all these years it's because they want more people to know about them.
really? Someone pirated their music before release? That must’ve sucked for them. Did they end up releasing that song?
You seem like a cool dude. I apologize on behalf of the Maidiacs for the rude ones.

I don't mind you cutting out bits. It might get people to actually watch the band's own channel.
