I think you are spot on with going in deep on a country/region rather than surface level all over the world in one go. The channel will grow if you are consistent. I spent 11+ years outside the US travelling the world, came back during the end of COVID. Now that I am back, it is extremely difficult to acclimate back to life here. I find myself often lost, depressed, alone...no one to identify with. It's difficult, each day is a challenge.

I highly recommend longer stays in a given country. Renting an apartment for 2 to 3 months in a city will be cheaper than staying in hotels unannounced/unplanned. Looking forward to your future journeys!
