cope these guy have low lean mass and also every one on the video height is guarantee to start with 5'. regardless i like gymnastic because i stop carring whether or not something is comsidered manly or not and i am now just be myself and pursue my interest no matter what!
102 (in time 3:30 - 4:16) is Alois Hudec from Czechoslovakia, this is his Gold Medal Performance (9.8pt) on 11th August 1936 at Olympics in Berlin, it's not a slow motion, he hold all positions more then 2 times then necessary because it was his last exhibition and Nazi got lower marks to Slavic people, so he went there ready to show them something extraordinary... That's why Leni had to put it into the movie...
dorothy tai Especially rings, pommel, and parallel bars. I'd love to see the return of the one arm handstand on parallel bars! 102 on rings certainly doesn't look like what you would expect of a gymnastics routine from 80 years ago.
When I first saw this, I wondered if Riefenstahl had slowed the camera speed but in the rings routine, the people walking in the stands in the background seem to be walking at pretty much a normal speed. Very impressive rings routine. Back then, the strength positions were held for a longer period of time than now. Can't tell if 102 did a full butterfly to start the routine.
Мне 70 .Начинали ( и еще 3-5 лет) на открытом воздухе( стадионы,площадки,опил,алебастр для ладоней..) Маты - роскошь( для сборной) Народ собирался - любовался .1966/67
actually, it is not. #102 is Alois Hudec from czechoslovakia. Member of lower rase (at least for germans before WW2) and referees did everything to shorten his points in every other disciplines which he attended. So he held all the exercises (or figures or as its called) double time than says the rules
Well I'm usually called optimistic but for the sake of sports I have to say that the "progress" of skills in sports is more and more full of excess. The main problem is that the more top atlhetes are skilled, the less they have different styles, flaws and assetts, so with decades you feel more and more watching clones. Also, the daily life devotion, pressure and competition became unhealthy for atlhetes psychology in many sports. I guess it will sound even more inhuman in 70 years. The only cons I see is that as you said we can see amazing things and what our organism can do after tryharding something. I'd love proffessional sport become again healthy, blooming and balanced but I don't know how since it's industrialized like almost everything in this massive society. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't stop watching pros to get less and less used to amazing skills then being able to enjoy amateur again. Amateur sports are full of surprise, more different styles between atlhetes, more different genetics. We can contemple there the versatility of humans, we're oftenly surprised by some atlhetes, we always can dream and expect the next one will be very different or amazing, sounds exciting and healthy :)
If the world is still around in 70 years, gymnastics won't have changed much... certainly unlikely for the better. They've gotten worse in the last 30 years alone.
did you see how packed the stadium was? i'm so glad gymnastics of my day was so much more advanced. can you imagine what will be required of gymnasts in 20 years? wow.
yay, they handstand like me :D surely bending the back like that though makes it so much harder to hold on the rings? the the ring sequence is slowed down, you can see by looking at the straps when they go slack. the floor routines were... interesting. a lot better to train outside i think :)
i dont know look at the scenes in "slow motion" where crowd is behind. people are moving normally. if it is like this then those guys were much stronger that today gymnasts? just my opinion i dont claim thats true
@@Alvin_Vivian in most cases yes. Doing a trick in slow motion needs quite a lot more strength and balance, so not only the main muscle groups have to work harder but also the underlaying muscles. Just try a handstand press quickly and slowly and youll notice the difference.
Lolwa Allunicorn Yeah I got the joke lol... I didn't think you were a "hater" (and even if you were I wouldn't care :). I'm actually on YT all the time watching videos. I just don't upload stuff anymore. So not sure it's worth subscribing haha... Thx for stopping by!
I'm just writing this here because I have no idea how soon the Rapture will happen: repent! Turn to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins while you still can. The end of the world as we know it is fast coming closer.
102!!! Give him the gold! That inverted cross to iron cross is so badass even by today's standards.
he had gold :) Alois Hudec, look him up
This has got to be one of the manliest youtube videos ever.
cope these guy have low lean mass and also every one on the video height is guarantee to start with 5'.
regardless i like gymnastic because i stop carring whether or not something is comsidered manly or not and i am now just be myself and pursue my interest no matter what!
these guys are so respectful! doing routines like that with that kind of apparals, with no protections and no grips.. they were so brave
Interesting how apparently straight arms were not a requirement back then.
these day these guy would disqualified for too much bent arms
It was but they just couldn't do it

OMFG that's my bday!!! August 11!!!!
Lord of the rings.
Thanks for sharing. Very interesting :) inspirational
Why are you spreading false information? At 4:21 you can CLEARLY see it’s slow motion and the people in the background walk in slow motion too
Simon48 Read what he wrote instead of talking
Calisthenics ever will be the most beauty gymnastics category for men. Yes, I really believe that.
Very interesting to see the changes and where it has evolved from. I was really impressed with these gymnasts.
Ring routines back then were still BA
the sport was completely different because most of gymnastics was held outside. The technique and form is totally different.
What kind of BS is that
Wow the floor routines had alot of yoga poses back then.
It also looks like what they have you doing in wrestling except with less flips.
That was classic!
it seems men's routines didn't change as much as women's..

This is absolutely incredible, they are doing it with such ease and make it look so smooth!

It's cool how they did it outdoors back then, it would be cool it they did that now days.
There are outside events for gymnastics, but it's rare
Cosi virile, pulito ed elegante, magnifici. E che inquadrature. Meno è meglio, senza dubbio, almeno quando c'è lo stile.
Those dudes are ripped.
cool video, thanks for posting it.
That guy with 102 in 3:27 is Czechoslovakian Alois Hudec who pissed of Hitler because he defeated Germans and won olympic gold by this performace
most hardcore (and similar to today) are the rings
Number 102, rings, Alois Hudec🥇🇨🇿❤️

amazing
Was some of this footage used in the Rammstein Stripped video? I think it was.
吊り輪の102番の選手、素手であれだけできるのはこの時代で凄い。
Seriously, has the pommel horse changed all that much?
Some of this is quite impressive, even by today’s standards.
wow they had a big crowd there for gymnastics
Yeah
Really cool.
Oldy but goldy
that was awesome, we have come a long way in 70 years! imagine what they will be doing in another 70 :)

It is look like a bit of slow pace of modern gymnastics , or slow motion maybe 😄. Nevertheless it is still incredible
Is the floor concrete? No wonder they couldn't do much tumbling.
did you see how packed the stadium was? i'm so glad gymnastics of my day was so much more advanced. can you imagine what will be required of gymnasts in 20 years? wow.
damn how do you feel about gymnastics now lol, only 4 years to go
Wtf
aye mate you still alive ?
This resembles the more gymnastics we see today. Number 102 you are a bad mamma jammer!
except 4:01 - 4:16
the inverted down to cross straight body was sick!
I think that I just tore my bicep watching guy #102
😂😂 I tore my triceps. Watching insane routines is a dangerous sport...
yay, they handstand like me :D surely bending the back like that though makes it so much harder to hold on the rings?

a lot better to train outside i think :)
my warmup
they had slow motion in 1936? damn
i dont know look at the scenes in "slow motion" where crowd is behind. people are moving normally. if it is like this then those guys were much stronger that today gymnasts? just my opinion i dont claim thats true
So you're stronger if you move slower?

a lot of yoga poses on the floor routine
WOW... I say bring back the one armed handstand on pbars! lol. All up I reckon that was level 2 floor and at most, level 6 for everything else.
but some of them must be in slow motion especially where those guys are jumping or swinging
lol the pommel circles have no stretch at all
Gravity defyinh gymnast♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
i cant believe its outside!

By that time Bruce Lee had not yet reached his popularity and as a result people were more clumsy overall

当時は屋外だったのか。
@SuperNonhuman it's not that old
I wonder if those gymnast still alive 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Little Kitty they would have to be 100+ years old by now, so probably not.
Nevertheless, it is so beautiful to have watched what they worked so hard for and left for us to admire. so much respect.
why it so slow
Hudec to byl pan gymnasta ✌️
Reckturnen noch ohne Flugelemente...
created in the bronx
sigh...those were the golden days before corporate sponsorship, performance enhancing drugs and celebrity media ruined sport
straight white anglo-saxon protestant man bro gymnastics was gay af
How was it better back then? Low difficulty is better? Or dangerous form? Gymnastics just became extremely difficult sport that requires perfection
lol yeah it does doesn't it... :D
and outside with no spring mats, they should it like the old days again. Doubt these kids can take it though :-)
haha yeah... gymnastics has advanced so much since then.
