Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes star in this hilarious adventure about three professional drag queens on the cross-country road trip of a lifetime. I love this movie with all my heart. Using comedy and for the very first time in a mainstream movie, topics like queerness, homophobia, domestic violence, even sexual assault were addressed. And it showed us how three amazing hetero male actors could portray three very realistic drag queens in a respectful way, making them so lovable to the big audiences. A true film gem.

RIP Patrick Swayze, I really miss his movies. Wesley and John are incredible actors, I'd love to see them in more projects too. This was such a great movie. These men tackled some serious issues in this movie and they did wonderfully.

Patrick said that other A-listers competed for the roles too. I think they saw this type of a role as a challenge. These guys have already done enough action flicks already, it became too easy. I bet they couldn't stop laughing when they did the early scenes of this film, but then it became irritating when dressing up and acting like a woman for several months was a lot harder than doing any action flicks.
If Patrick was still around I'm sure Ru would've had him on R$ DR as a guest judge by now lol😒😭

This movie helped me come out of the closet when l was 18....seeing all the glitz and the glam was fabulous but l just love how much of a stud yet A LADY Wesley Snipes can be hahaha

Whoever did up Patrick Swayze is amazing! I saw him as a glamorous lady, even in the closeups. Vida is the most beautiful and elegant, but her co-queen has the sashay down, definitely a lady, as she walks away. And RuPaul too. Fabulous.

You missed Quentin Crisp. He was sitting beside Lady Bunny. Google him....he was AMAZING. Lived as openly gay in the UK in the 1930s, 40s and onward....the wittiest, toughest man. Then he wrote a book in the 1970s called The Naked Civil Servant and it hit all the best seller lists catapulting him from obscurity in his 70s. Suddenly he was famous and everyone wanted him on their show....he moved to New York where he enjoyed real celebrity and was beloved by many.

He did! His moms dance school was just blocks from my house, and often I’d walk to class. Yes, I got to see him regularly. His mom would trot him out to demonstrate moves and worked with us. I m attracted to brunettes so he wasn’t my cup of tea and he was younger. He asked me once while on a break how come you’re not after me and I made him laugh when I said‘you’re not my cup of tea and you’re an annoying young squirt an all but…’Can you believe it! I’m probably one of the few treated him normal coz believe me, you could feel him in the air, his star was rising and we had no idea he wanted to act! Dance is and was his forte’ so we thought he’d be on stage not a big screen! Ps. I think every girl who had a crush on him gave his love Lisa, a hard time because their fantasy man was taken. Lol petty bitches 😂🙏🏻❤️

This movie never gets old for me. Every time it's as as funny as it was the first time I watched it. 😊
This, Priscilla and Bird Cage are three of my fav movies. Remembering simpler happier times in my life when first seeing these. Wesley one liner to Naomi Campbell's - "I wish I was has beautiful as you" was so funny!.
We also must not forget the late, but excellent Patrick Swayze and Robin Williams who both just mastered their art in both their excellent portrayal of their characters in this movie. Along with John just 'totally' transitioning into Chi-Chi.
If the world has has 'truly moved on', Then I believe all those 'snobby conservative old- out of date grey haired, television CEO's (and the likes!) need to ensure that this is added to their annual Christmas holiday movie schedule. So come on...put your money where your mouths are!.

Wesley NOXEMA bum is amazing
A great story about this film: Patrick Swayze so desperately wanted to do the film when he heard about it but the producers wouldn’t see him because they thought he was too macho. So he got a makeup artist friend to drag him up and he walked in off the street dressed like that to audition, and to prove he could pass as a woman, he took the casting director out for lunch in drag and not a single person knew it was him.
Not only that, but his involvement helped get sponsors on board for product placement, and when McDonalds dropped out, Patrick got Coca Cola involved by doing a free commercial for them. He also said he wasn’t doing the film if it was going to be mocking the gay community, and he was the one who got the real queens involved. Other than the three main actors, nearly all the Queens in the film are real Drag artists from the circuit at the time.
Not only that, but he’s also the reason you never see the three main Queens out of drag during the film. He didn’t want it to be seen as “three male actors wearing dresses” but them transforming in the way real Queens do, and he felt it would ruin the illusion if you saw them in their male forms.
Patrick Swayze deserves to be an icon, imo!
