i come from the uk i come to gambia every year for holiday . its a wonderful amazing place so friendly . it breaks my heart seeing this people just trying to make a living in bad times its disgusting my heart goes out to all people who are effected or will be in the near future . people have no heart
You are from uk right great then try and bild a store or even a table on the street of uk then we shall see what the outcome will be uk my foot. Maybe you are trying to fool others who are not here in Europe or elsewhere in the west
There should be safety training for those workers. Why are they demolishing a structure and standing under it? Very dangerous. They have no hard hats just in case something fell on their heads. Safety should always be first priority. 😊
It is painful to look at, but these demolitions are part of a plan to improve infrastructure and create prosperty and happiness for all. Not just for those who have built their shop on public grounds. My respect for the public servants who courageously carry out their duty, in spite of all criticism, to create a better future for The Gambia. And how patient and competent the public officer is.
Why can't the government negotiate with the owners and charge an extension fees for temporary structures and collect revenue from it living the people to do business till its needed for development. Make sense
Still sympathize with the affected vendors but i believe it's a right move towards a better safe and healthy environment for all.The whole country, especially the urban areas is all congested and has been turned in a whole big ghetto.
A lot don't know what these operations means forbthis country. To me it mesns killing small businesses contrary to what the current government says they are going to empower small business. Again it means adding more frustration to the masses of this beloved nation. Increase in crime rate as the people would do everything to survive out here. This government is not even taking records of the individuals and businesses affected. Every single detail like names and places of everyone affected should be taken to measure the impact these operations have on them , then mobilise funs to build new open market places to do the least.
Even develop countries there are conor shop all over...this is what happens if the government is run by foolish people... demolishing places that have no connection with the main highway
Media team please be professionals. Remember you are not on the side of anyone, so what ever the affected victims say about the operation you have to be mute and do your job accordingly. Not to be responding to peoples expressions.
Am sure she knew about this project going to happen, she should have dealt with it before they turn up. I live in England and knew about it since February and owners knew before
I was also in Gambia in may and going about you can see the big X’s on the wall and building highlighting where you have to break from and if the owner didn’t they would come back and do it and it’s not for free. Gambians pretending they never heard about it is a lie.

After this exercise, Gambia will find out how much the informal sector has contributed to Gambia's economy. When there is a decline in GNP.

But you should let the girl sell her food.
A demolition team without proper safety gear such as helmet, gloves and proper boots. Why don’t we value standard?
Let's get the girl a mic so she don't have to use water bottle. She's really trying lol
The news lady in red jeans is such a cutie.

Stop with the sensationalism. You don't need yellow journalism to get people to tune in to this story.
Sabismall policeman you don't have to talk to this woman is not your job
You have to know your job to learn your job
