Definitely wasn't expecting this video but I was pleasantly surprised. As for my experience with VII, I didn't start out playing the game since I never owned a PS1 or a PS2 until many years after it had come out and even then I didn't know it existed until I was introduced to the series by a friend in 6th grade. She was super into VII and had me watch Advent Children with her and I didn't understand the story, didn't know who the characters were, but I ended up falling in love with Yuffie's personality and character that they show and she became my favorite character from the series. Also add on Reno and Vincent becoming two of my favorite male VII characters and yeah, I was having a good time. But I didn't play the original game until after I had tried to play Dirge of Cerberus, big mistake choosing that one first. And this was after I had the major story beats of the game spoiled by the old Completionist episode series on VII that went over all entries in the franchise, including the movie and unfortunately not including Before Crisis due to it being shut down on obsolete phone models. However, when I played VII, I found parts of the beginning really tedious and kind of frustrating as someone who wanted to try and complete the game. Because you had to play the mini games perfectly if you wanted the best items for Cloud to be chosen by Corneo; and the dialogue options were not frustrating but confusing because of how I wanted Cloud to have a close relationship with Tifa like you'd expect him to despite them having been apart for so long. Then there came the big moment in the Shinra company building, where you wake up to a trail of blood outside of your cell door and you followed it throughout. Dread filled my stomach because I knew who had left it, I knew who killed all of those people in the building. But to see his katana stabbed right there the president as he's pinned to his desk? In that moment, I was terrified of Sephiroth as a villain. And that is exactly what I'm looking for in a good villain in any RPG or JRPG. Make me fear them, give me a reason to find to be apprehensive about facing this big bad evil guy who is driving the party to where they need to go. I got past the first disc and moved on to the second disc but never finished it after getting to Corel prison under the Gold Saucer. I got lost and couldn't find my way out or where I needed to go, which if I were exploring without any issues then there would be no problem. However, I kept getting into random encounters and had to keep going back to the save point to heal after a while. I talked to every NPC, I talked to Coats and got that scene with Barrett and the party in that one house where he tells them about his and Dyne's past. Yet, still, I was lost. I don't ask that a game hold my hand, but a better sense of direction and letting the player know where they need to go is always appreciated. Especially when they aren't roadblocking you from exploring by saying "Come on, we have to go this way to escape!" When you know where you need to go but you're just trying to explore and see all there is to see in the area. So, yeah, those are my thoughts on Final Fantasy VII. I think it's a pretty good game overall, one of the biggest twists in gaming history still gets me but then the more analytical part of my mind is like "But why didn't you just use a *******?" But yeah, thanks for the awesome video and have a good day Aussieroth!
Bringing this question to FFVII's front door...A risky move. Personally, whether it's nostalgia or a genuine love, VII will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my introduction to the franchise simply because I was a kid in KB Toys and saw a game cover with a dude holding a HUGE sword. I loved every bit of it that during one playthrough I did one of the earliest forms of let's plays, recorded it on VHS! Jump forward to college and I ended up doing a fandub on here for Last Order! And to this day I'm always looking forward to modders making graphical mods for the original!

Honestly, I loved the hell out of it for mostly the same reasons as yours. Also, because it's the only FF game that I have ever beaten. lol
